Which Fairy IS better?

I like everyone's thoughts here. What I've tended to do lately is use Eos mostly on steady, letting her auto-use embrace because it's too much of a pain to hit steady all the time. And then I just use rouse+her other bufss/Aoe heal whenever the whole party takes a big hit, and that helps me get everyone back to full health relatively quickly. Once I'm comfy with everyone's health again, I put her back on Steady.

After reading this, it seems like a better plan is to use Selene for most of the fight, then switch to Eos when I know things are about to get dicey. My only worry would be using up my swiftcasts for faerie summons and not resurrection...but I guess the other healer can handle that.

If I had to choose, I'd say Selene.

Heres why:

1) I can pull mobs to my group with her.

2) . . .well. . .just 1 really lol. .

To be honest, both are pretty good. Just fool with them to match your play style/situation. People can argue with you and throw faux math, statistics, reasons, testimonies and whatever else you can think of but at the end of the day, if you're not having fun with it then theres no point.

I like Selene, not because, "oo man, DPS go faster!" but because, "ooo. . .I wonder if I can make Selene grab those three mobs and bring them to my group before the one they're fighting dies!. . .yup~! hahaha"

I personally prefer Eos. I tend to run Cleric Stance when doing dungeons like AK or WP, so having Eos to heal the tank while I'm spreading my DOTs is my preferred method. I feel like I can't justify Selene's buffs over the additional DPS. Her silence is nice though.

Like I pointed out, Selene's buffs are a DPS increase. What Eos buff is allowing you to Cleric Stance that Selene doesn't have? over 20 seconds, Eos will put out 3000~ more healing than Selene with WD and Fey Illumination. Over the next 40 seconds, their healing is identical. And you'll dot the mob faster with Selene than with Eos...

Unless you bring in specific counterexamples or counterarguments, you are contributing nothing to this discussion. Citing yourself as somehow having advanced knowledge of stats does not help. In fact, your lack of substantiated claims along with your self-reference to profession is a contradiction worthy of ridicule.

The obvious and most glaring omission is the consideration of MP. Chain healing puts me out of MP within a short period of time.

This is the critical division between Selene and Eos. Yes, Selene boosts your rate of output by a greater degree, but Eos' effectiveness is an MP savings rather than Selene's MP sink.

Fey Covenant carriers very little utility but again, it results in MP savings rather than letting you spend MP faster.

For this reason alone, Eos is not trumped by Selene.

I'd also like to argue, conceptually, that making fights faster is not always superior. For example, in high-movement encounters such as Titan, being able to land large cures at critical moments (Fey Illumination) and being able to AoE cure (Whispering Dawn) can be highly useful if you don't have the time to cast Adlo/Succor.

You really are on a mission to tell people how to play aren't you? hehe. Why not make a video with a premade and compare times? 1 with Selene and 1 with Eos. Sometimes it's best to show people instead of telling them ^^

To be clear, I don't think chain-casting is necessarily the way to go. The issue is that, with Eos, the buff is only up for, at maximum, 8 casts. If you're not chain-casting while it's up, half of Eos benefit is nearly wasted. Considering again how, in content like BC, the name of the game is to keep your tank topped off, the 20% for 20s is going to have very, very little actual impact.


While sure, it increases your healing per MP, is there a difference between a 1000 hp heal and a 1200 hp heal when the tank is missing 1000 hp? What about when they are missing 2000? in either scenario, you're casting the same number of heals. While FI is nice, what you give up to get it is a pretty bad trade-off.

For FC, when would you ever use it? On Titan, Plumes and his Astral Flow are the only magic attacks. Pre-Turn 5, I'm not sure what, if any, attacks are magical.

And for WD, like I had said, it's only really useful if you're trying to solo-heal Titan (or are healing Titan/Garuda with an undergeared partner). The HoT is too small to be depended on in progression content.

Well I don't mean to come off so strong! And if someone really wants to play with Eos because they like a blue fairy more than a green fairy, then awesome! But I keep seeing things like "I'll switch to Eos for more healing etc" when, in reality, any healing increase is marginal if it exists at all! Honestly, after some soul searching I'm agreeing with Rainsford. I used to preach Eos Eos Eos, but that was mostly complacency. She's not that necessary, especially with how I was using her (save cooldowns for WD, which you also save).

By contrast, I couldn't tell you that I feel the difference with Selene, but hell it's better than nothing and (in the case of AK) her manual silence (assuming you have her on Obey) seems surprisingly responsive. I just need more practice with keeping Light/Glow uptime going.

At this point, I only plan on using Eos if I need her for temporary supertanking (Demon Wall adds, random tank-less moments, Garuda sisters to an extent). Otherwise it's all Selene. However I would definitely invite new SCHs to try both (played well; not lazy "no place, no Steady/Obey/whatever" style) and make decisions for themselves, as I did.

Selene all the way because relyin on a fairy buff to do great heals is somehow silly / bad.

Your paladin can make you heal better, your monk can make you heal better and anyway in both cases you still have both supervirus for your party and eye for an eye for your tank in order to calm things down.

Except on the Succor case I don't truelly feel that the healing boost of Eos is worth the usage and it's once per 2 minutes ... but in Coils, for Turn 1 - 2 - 4 depending of your tactics, any dps boost is more than appreciated when its done in an appropriated way.

Let people in the raid buff you. Havin to chain use steady to save 1 cooldown that will be up for 20 secs every 2 minutes isn't worth the hassle imho
