Personally I don't see the problem with this idea as long as it's implemented well. What I mean is, I see a lot of people saying that this would only be viable if the rewards were vanity items or level 50 items. However I don't see the problem with some of the drops (ones from the harder enemies anyway) being gear that is on-par with say Darklight or even Mythology/Allagan gear. It would give us some variation, at the moment every class between every person is played exactly the same. My main is a Summoner and apart from Summon preference (Ifrit/Garuda) they are played exactly the same, there's no variation. Surely you've noticed this on other classes? where as if we had a bigger pool of gear to choose from that all offered just slightly different stats it would give us so much room for variation and give the game in general a much bigger feel to it as you wouldn't just see hoards of characters all wearing the same gear and all fighting the exact same way.

The problem(s) with this idea are the following:
• In FFXI, you were able to claim if you had the latest bot.
• This waste of time & braincells got the worst of the players participating.
• Most of the LS dramas were happening because of leaders making favoritism, or ppl stealing LS bank.
Somes EG players allow themselve to have a very bad behavior, imagine raising that kind of competition again in FFXIV, for these same players? thats absolutely ridiculous, no one should be told "ahahaha you're gimp with your full DL, now you need to get in a HNMFC & wear this HNM armor/shiny." Because you can say as much as you want that it would not happen, you honestly know it will.
This is not about us not wanting others players to advance, its about us not wanting to be told one day "You need to camp this HNM if you want to join my group."

I vote no to Timer spawn NM
Force spawn like abyssea or Voidwatch would be cool though. XD

NMs and HNMs in this game sounds like a HORRIBLE IDEA. If you haven't experienced lag from Behemoth or Odin, then I don't know what to tell you. The only method which someone mentioned earlier that made sense, was farming "coffer keys." Farming sub-items to do a dungeon sounds great. In 1.0 you had to farm mats to fight the primals, remember that? I wouldn't mind entering an instance for a fight after I farm mats, but I can't see myself camping another stupid Fate.

It was to my utmost horror that I saw this topic on top of the forums again.. But Thankfully the nonsense the OP tried to force down my throat did not return. It's good to see there are like minded individuals with reason still in this world.

Don't know as much as a lot of you, but in my short time playing final fantasy "14" I've noticed that pulling mobs to another group doesn't exactly work. So wiping a group using childish means isn't possible.

Both of your points are good. I'm also a veteran FFXI player. Played 6 years from release date. Participated in all NM and HNM events. All I have to say is this isn't what I want to do anymore either. I was fine with it back then because I was young and have the time to invest in camping. But not now. The competition to get claims is no joke. We would camp 12 hours straight for adamantoise Faf and behe. Point system in LS so whoever shows up and puts the most hour into camping gets more points to bet on drops. But what darth said about it is also true IT IS A LOT more fun then just sit in town waiting for queues or do coil over and over again every week same shit and it's true u never know what's going to happen when u log in haha. but that's why there's going to be more patches and more content for ffxiv.so just sit tight for a bit longer.

Long live HNMs and FFXI-like content, hell yes.
