Got a positive one, whoa!

I've been queuing all night tonight for Malika's Well (Lv77 dungeon) over and over, grinding SMN and RDM to 79. Most of them are pretty meh, but nothing to write a complaint about.

Then suddenly I get an in-progress queue, 2 minutes in progress. Oh lord, what fresh hell is this going to be? It turns out the other 3 people had queued together, were all on lv80 jobs, were only there so one of them could get the Triple Triad card drop, and they had no idea why the 4th left. It was barely 3~4 minutes into the dungeon as I ran up to catch up to them, and all the trash was already dead by the time I reached them. Amazing! It's the fastest run of that dungeon I've ever had. Max pulls, fast kills, excellent all around!

The person looking for their Triple Triad card didn't get it :(

When you're spoiled by playing mostly in premades and forget how PUGs are so different.

Just finished a Mt Gulg on my freshly dinged 79 SCH with a PLD who did not use a SINGLE defensive cooldown. Not when he mega-pulled at the beginning (and only the beginning, baby got scared when he dropped low and only did tiny pulls afterwards), not when he refused to step out of the AOEs on first boss, not for any tankbusters. He died on the first boss due to his own stupidity but I managed to keep everyone alive during the res. Somehow. I barely had enough resources to heal everyone else during all of the AOE damage because I had to keep spam healing the stupid Au Ra. Oh, and he never used Requiescat, and spammed hardcasted Holy Spirit/Circle during FoF. Sigh. How do these people reach 80??

Got zero comms at the end, I'm sure I was blamed for any hiccups since everyone loves to blame the healers instead of the absolute dumpster fire tanks.

Doing my dailies on my RDM and drew The Lost City of Amdapor. While things seemed a little bit "off" in the healing dept, I didn't think nothing of it at first as the only things hitting the dirt was the mobs. I noted the healer was a sprout, so I just wrote off the shaky healing as inexperience. She was clearly trying as I was seeing both heals and dps going out, so I left well enough alone.

Until after the 2nd boss and people started getting hit with Paralysis. I was too focused on why I wasn't getting cleansed to notice the tank died. Not that I could of done anything about it I suppose, RDM's don't get Vercure till 54 and this was a level 50 dungeon.

I decided to chance saying something and typed out "Are you aware you are able to cleanse Paralysis with Esuna?"

Almost immediately as I hit Enter the healer asked "What was keeping me from casting?"

Ah, that explains much...

What followed was a brief explanation of what Paralysis was and what icon to look for. I made sure to tell her to cast it on herself first so she could get heals off as needed between cleansing others.

Fight after, she struggled a little bit getting Esuna on herself, so I remarked if she wants, she can go ahead and swiftcast it off herself first if needed so she could at least heal and cleanse if needed.

No further issues with that until we got to Diabolos. It was evident after 2 tries we didn't have the DPS and Healing power to just ignore the door mechanic and burn him down, so I got a lesson (FINALLY) on how to do that boss properly. Our little Sprout healer turned out to be very good at memory games and handled the doors on our successful run.

I didn't mind that dungeon taking a little longer - it was nice to see a newbie so willing to learn.

I could have hugged the guy who told me, at the end of a low level dungeon run (not sure which one, I was leveling my WHM): "Btw, in case you didn't know, Esuna will clean poison". I was immensely grateful. If you havent played other games like this one before, the tooltip "removes one detrimental effect from target" doesnt makes much sense to you... until someone gives you a clear example. I am and will always be an avid how-to-play tip devourer!

I’m healing and we’re almost at the end of a dungeon where we’ve been doing big pulls and the tank says “I always feel safe with a Scholar who’s paying attention.”

Just as a tip, any and all debuffs you can Esuna have a little bar on the...I can't recall if it is top or bottom offhand...That shows how much longer the debuff is on. Any you cannot Esuna won't have it. It's actually really handy in new instances to know when you can just ignore the debuffs, unless you are like me and Esuna every time you see red in the buff bars.

Sort of a shame the other thread on "how to word advice nicely" has mostly concluded in "kick them immediately" and "don't bother trying". Posts like this prove that offering help can make a difference for some players. It'd be sad if rude players have ruined that for those who appreciate it.

The problem is there less players like Oichi that appreciate stuff like that, than those that don't.

White Mages who don't holy. Red Mages who use their single target rotation on double trash pulls. Why must you be the way you are? When I have 12 mobs surrounding me I have no idea why I'm seeing jolt on your cast bar.

I was mass pulling skalla and at that one really big pull before the second boss I burned every cooldown and every resource and our dps couldn't even kill one monster in that time because their damage was atrocious. To give you an idea, the samurai never once used any iaijutsu besides midare and the black mage didn't cast a single fire IV/Blizzard IV/Foul the entire run, that bad.

At first I thought they were bots until they called me toxic for mentioning how our dps was low. Only the healer (an ast) was doing any real work. I blacklisted the two dps and feel bad for any party that groups with them.

Kinda ironic considering most red mages spammed scatter on single targets last expansion.:P

In Carbuncle (Japanes data center), Using duty finder for first time fighting Ifrit in MSQ

The fight went relatively easy, After watching the after-fight cutscene, the rest of the group was still there cheering and congratulating me, made me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Better to have JoltMage than HardCastMage.

Last expansion someone lost their mind that I didn't start a countdown for them because they queued for sigmascape 1.0 with their zeta relic on. Now I start a countdown as barrier goes down for alphascape 1.0, all of 10 seconds, cotank immediately turns on tank stance despite mine already being on and pulls (and they had a bonus).

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Please continue attempting countdowns, there's nothing more annoying than not knowing whether or not to expect one and being forced to start hardcasting veraero then interrupting the cast as the tanks just stand there then hardcasting it again and interrupting the cast again because the tanks are still just standing there. You get to picture. The sooner tanks make their intentions known the less i have to deal with that bs in normal raids

I learned today a valuable lesson: 1) It's a bad idea to heal (or gain more routine in healing) when you are still kinda sleepy. 2) It's even more a bad idea if the dungeon is Quarn xD and a DRK not aware of his defensive CDs (as I tend to forget them in sometimes as well, I'm not blaming here). The poor (experienced) MNK had to solo the last sliver of health at 1st boss due to 1). I don't know why, but it was a weird mix of my heals feeling rather weak-ish and the DRK's HP dropping during rather biggish (I think?) mob pulls fsat enough that full-time healing was necessary. Luckily, it worked out 99% of the time :o I guess my gear wasn't the "best" for my this level range.

Oof, I just remembered this one lol. Did Bardam's to level my DNC a lil yesterday and got the most confusing sprout SAM ever. They would randomly stop attacking, die in almost every single trash pull due to standing in AOEs, and my crystal ball told me that they only did an avg of 600 dps. On trash pulls. To compare, I did around 3.5k or so -I think?- per pull. They never got over 900 dps the entire dungeon. How is that possible? :<

I convinced a friend of mine to start playing FF14 and yesterday, after she finished the novice hall as a Conjurer, she was ready for her first dungeon. I couldn't accompany her but I watched over her and told her not to worry, as the community is usually very friendly, especially to Newbies. Or so I thought. The dungeons starts and she was the only sprout, watching cutszene, there is a newcomer-bonus, she is on their first class with level 16, but while she was still typing a "Hello" into the chat the PLD immediately dashed off, pulling everything they can pull. Still wondering what's actually going on she tried to follow them, even using the dot on the enemies like I told her to and keeping the tank alive for a while until the last big room before the last boss (the one with all the pirates) where she panicked and they wiped - with the tank immediately lashing out at her, faster then they dashed through the dungeon.
I mean, I get it. It's Sastasha. It's boring for experienced player so you wanna do it fast and move on. But there is this new player on her first class, joining in her first dungeon ever in this game, without much of a plan what's going one. Is it too much to ask to consider this for a bit and maybe not masspulling everything straight to the exit? And then even criticising her for not being able to keep up with your speed-run?

Obviously. Because after I asked her if she wants to continue, she soldiered on and a little bit later she entered the very next dungeon, Tam-Tara, where exactly the same thing happend again. Well, the results afterwards where clear with her conclusion: "Well, this game looks fun and I enjoyed it quit a bit, but I don't ever want to go into any more dungeons, thank you very much."

I offered to take her along with me and my friends in the future so she can actually enjoy the game some more, but I guess I was lucky when I did my first dungeons as the party was way more nicer and took it slow. I don't know if I would have continued with the game if I had received the same treatment either.

I remember I had really unpleasant runs of Castrum Meridianum and Praetorium the first time I tried the game. I considered unsubscribing after beating Ultima Weapon, but I wound up sticking around for the story.

Last night, I get into Holmester to level my RDM.
Group was a DRK, WHM and MNK.

We start off with the DRK pulling everything in the 1st room and is almost instantly killed just as they get to the last pull. Now, I had somehow pulled aggro on the bear during the pull so I imagine the WHM had stopped momentarily to heal me as we continued the pull as they had been a bit behind when the DRK had reached the end of his pull and he promptly died as a result of the healer being too far to heal them. Its a wipe but I sort of just brush it off. DRK and MNK comment that the healer must be new so they proceed to do small pulls, although the DRK was a bit snide in his remark. Now, we do small pulls but I notice that I'm getting a little high on the aggro meter while doing my AoE rotation for these single mob pulls until I eventually pull hate several times from the tanks, which is when I start looking at what this DRK is doing. No AoE emnity attacks, MP mostly full 90% of the time, No CDs, nothing. Now, I do feel that the healer was largely inexperienced (using medica 2 when only the tank was taking damage, using cure when several people were hurt, etc.) but they were at least trying to make use of their CDs as much as possible and healing us so while I do believe that the big pull would not have been possible with them healing, I don't think the snide remark was necessarily either after witnessing this DRK failing their job in equal measure so I was a bit ticked off by it. After the 5th or so time I rip aggro from this guy, I just had to comment and being the smart A that I am I state, "Damn, making fun of the healer when you can barely keep aggro". No reply from anyone but after that, DRK decides to actually AoE and never lost aggro to me for the rest of the dungeon, which we proceed to clear with minimal issues apart from the WHM dying to the last boss but a quick Verraise and we cleared.

I get upset when people call out a player when they themselves are so bad at their job that they have to deflect blame onto others for their own failures. I don't tolerate that type of behavior and will call you out on your own failures rather than fall for the shade you try and throw on others.

You know what's more fun than Titania with parties that wipe? Titania with parties that wipe where the Tank instantly pulls the second the barrier comes down without discussing a thing. Even when the "One or more players is new to this duty" thing flashes on the screen.

Because blindly pulling worked so well the first two pulls.

Overly impatient tanks...
Had an E4 run with the tank typing "insta pull lol" and sprinting towards Titan. We had three new players, one who typed "just a sec, interface issue", one who asked when he had to run to the "long side". Imagine how well that went...
Anf after we wiped he said "jeez it's just normal".
I appreciate every tank who initiates a quick ready check before trials/ normal raids and sets a short pull timer. Even if it's just 5sec, it's nice to know that the fight is about to start pretty soon. Those 10sec for everyone to click ready plus pull timer won't hurt anyone.

sorry but you were ready when you accepted the duty pop but I will give you a few seconds to summon you pet and do your preparations but I will never use ready checks, those annoy me.

Then you're a bad player.

80 level rotations require set-up, so NO, DPS are NOT ready when they click yes to accept a duty. Please learn what other classes need, at least minimally, and don't pull without ready checks in high-level/high-end content. Not able to properly start a rotation is more annoying than a ready check.

Edit: Guess who just ran into a healer who said "go nuts" to big pulls and couldn't handle them?

When I accepted the Q I was ready to enter a duty, not for someone like you to screw over my rotation. Some classes require time before pull. Some people need time to properly load in. That's exactly why ready check and countdown exists. Especially in raids.
If you don't have time for that, avoid raids at all cost because respecting others annoy you.

thats why I said I give you a few seconds, I am not waiting 20 seconds for ninjas to get another ninjutsu ready, they can use kassatsu for trick attack at the beginning like I do.

Please never raid then. At level 80 I have a rotation I like to use even in "easier" fights so I can be efficient when I really need it in Savage. It's not hard to be respectful to others.

yes but it requires for people to read what their skills do or be willing to even place it on their hud, same reason why you never saw ninjas use goad or any enmity skill.

Wow. When was the last time anyone saw a wipe on Livia in Castrum Meridianum? Both healers were taking turns not bothering to heal throughout the entire instance, then apparently both decided to take a break at the same time. And then someone else who'd died and run back found a pair of colossi that hadn't been killed and dragged them in, too. It did not go well.
