I believe it's a mod. Quite a few people have been posting mods in the official forums lately, which is brave considering that SE gave warnings to some mod users from twitter (or so I heard a while ago).

They might as well add it into the game, NieR is a SE property anyway. Maybe a crossover event like they did with FF XIII.
