The people that think that, still think they are playing XI. There is a lot less grind in this game then there was in XI, to an extent. Sure seals take a while to get if you're a casual player, and sure DL has a low drop rate so either the lucky or the committed obtain what they want, but in comparison to XI, this is much more of a "game" then a "job". Even a casual like myself can make a couple of relics and cap out most jobs. This game is hard bro.

My point? The system would not only reduce RMT activity, but also reduce the need/want/care/temptation of people using third party scripts. In saying that, it has actually been confirmed that 2.0 will allow add-on support - which is in fact third party scripting (although limiting I am sure) - is still considered "illegal" in the current game state.

No I do not bot, and do not encourage it/have the desire to use them. I play this game because I want to play it, not some automated program. But yes they exist, and it's a point that shouldn't be ignored.

RMT currently is illegal, so is bots.

The PLEX system does not reduce any RMT activity it however makes RMT activity safer and more affordable - meaning it will increase the demand of RMTing because the price is now lower. It also allows players who dont have the cash (maybe a teen or something) the ability to farm for a while and pay for their game.

Scripts that hook into the game are illegal both in ARR and now - addons wouldnt hook they are nothing like windowers or the such.

The gear worth fapping over will be untradable. Sure there is a possibility there will be a gil element to the questline, noting that it will be untradable - simply proves that there will be a large percentage of it that is done by beating content.

Relics as an example - there are only 2 major gil elements to the path, out of the whole questline. Which truthfully is nothing compared to relics in XI as an example. (The class weapon, and the beastmen coins). If you are about to say Hamlet Defence - that is a big lie, it takes less then an hour to get top 20, and maybe a few weeks to get all of your seals depending on playtime . That being said, both ways have cheaper methods of getting this done - which involves time. People who have that extra time, are usually the ones with higher game time ("hardcores" or people who don't have a job), and the people that don't have that gil have real life money. This gets balanced out with an in-game system as posted in the OP.

To me, the achievement that made me "chuffed" about getting both my relics was definitely not the gil aspect (yes I farmed it like a normal person), but it was the skill/defeating content aspect~ (17min runs/garuda/ifrit). I couldn't care less how people obtain the gil required because I look at a relic and think "cool, they were able to beat the harder game content".

Don't worry, despite your petty assumptions and insinuations (it' really funny how low you can get. Comedy gold at its best), I'm very used to work towards things. Important things. And that's precisely why I don't really mind if someone else can get some virtual item easier then me.

Good for them. People do that all the time anyway (even just by being carried by their linkshell), and it doesn't affect my experience in the slightest way.

Assuming that only teens can't afford a monthly fee or need that money better placed elsewhere shows a rather incomplete vision of the world. I suggest looking out of the window. It's very educational.

I am one to admit I am not very familiar with the system on other games, so won't push my points too hard, however I don't see how it would increase RMT activity, as it is essentially reducing the temptation for Mr. RL-rich to go out and purchase in game currency, as they can obtain it legally - and in game. I don't understand how being able to purchase gil from another player (by paying for their subscription fee - ie, that money goes to SE and not a RMT group), would increase RMT activity. That point to me makes very little sense.

If your point is it increases demand because people will buy gil from RMT's so they can purchase their monthly subscription, then wouldn't they just pay for their own subscription anyway?

I need to put this in a little story to get my own head around it - otherwise I will get confused.

Joe blogs is poor and buys his subscription from an in game item with gil.
John Smith is rich and sells a subscription item.
Where can the RMT get involved in this? I am failing to see where they can interfere. I am sure there are ways, but please enlighten me.

As for scripts hooking into the game - yes I can't see automated "bots" being legal, however I can see graphically enhanced add-ons like displaying HP% and what not being perfectly fine. If they aren't then what kind of "add-on" is even possible viable? I never played WoW because the comic graphics didn't ever appeal to me, but apparently their add-on system was quite good.

Lol, you work with the laws of assumption, and judging from what you say, you never ever set foot on EVE Online or Tera, so you don't even have a basic idea of the results and workings of the system.

The laws of economics are way more complex than the flawed concepts you used. I provided all there was to be provided, and from the development side, people that have worked on MMORPGs professionally for a decade provide the rest.

But i do find absolutely hilarious that you think to know better of the application of economics to MMORPGs than the whole development teams of two different MMOs.
