It really is shocking not a single person on the dev team thought to ask "hey, should we maybe dial it back just a bit and let other characters have their time in the spotlight?"

Honestly, regardless of the quality of writing, any one character being pushed that much would become unbearable eventually.

Honestly. I could of tolerated Wuk Lmao more if she wasn't in my face all the god **** time. Doesn't help her English VA is obviously not up to par with the rest of the cast especially when she's trying to be forceful or emotional.

It reminds of the old WoW narrative. The heroes did most of the leg work and heavy lifting, and it usually will be an important NPC swoop in the last minute to delivery some dramatic speech and claim the credit. The things is ... when WoW does that, the NPC tend to have a very big presence so it kinda make sense.

They did exactly that in the DT's 90 Trail as well. Also Wuk's entrance feels like a rip off from Zeno's entrance vs Endwalker. The thing is most of us cheered "MY TRUE FRIEND" when Zeno made his entrance, here I think we were like "oh no, this stupid cat gonna come and steal the show AGAIN won't she?"

Throughout the entire story I can't remember seeing any creative spark or unique about Wuk.

- Her seasick/nausea was basically Alphinaud's hydrophobia.

- Her insecure is basically a copy of Ryne.

Wuk is basically a combination of cheap knockoff of all the "cool things" the writer have read before and execute in the most obnoxious manner. The point is, the narrative style they chose for Wuk isn't new or invalid. But to do it successfully, you need to have a very strong character to successfully carry it out. They should introduce Wuk at least as a 6 or 7/10 character than grow her to a 9/10 to 10/10. Instead, they decided to introduce her as a 1 or 2/10 character and grow her to a 5 or 6/10 at the end. That would be fine for a side character, but not enough for a central character. I think Wuk would be ok if she was the Amerric of DT instead of trying to be the Esteinien/Ice Heart of DT.


I fully admit she does grow a bit and less annoying at the end, and I'm probably overly harsh. But I'm a human, I have prejudice, I can't help it. First impression is important because you only get it one, and Wuk's first impression is so fatally low that it makes it impossible for me to objectively judge her at the end. The writer should have account for the psychology effect, it's a very human thing. Frankly, I hope they don't try to salvage Wuk in the course of this entire expansion. They'll need to let time pass and hope her bad impression fade away, than in 4-5 years down the line they can try to pull a G'ahara 2.0 to give her come back. Because at this point, the more they try to fix her, the more they gonna make it worse. Not even Ishakawa can save Wuk's character in this expansion.

Zero was miles better. It's a real pity she didn't stay.
