Hasn't that always been the case though? I don't recall any Solo SCH clear for any Savage Raid tier, much less an Ultimate fight, while WHM and AST have several under their belt. So if the player base got to such a point that Solo Healing Savage Content was the meta, SCH (and possibly SGE) would effectively be left to the side lines while AST and WHM would be pretty much the only healers worth playing.

I'm not sure about any tier of savage this expac but SCH has solo healed TEA. I think more to the point it really highlights the state healers are in if a cohealer isn't even required for the hardest content in the game.

Yup, she's pretty boss as heck, and one of my favorite Healers. Shoot people to do damage, shoot people to heal damage. Grenade that splashes down and gives massive healing boost and increase, and makes enemies take more damage. Her ultimate is Nano Boost; making an ally turn in a monster of destruction, attacking faster, running faster etc.

Do what a RDM does, and know when to and when not to be in melee, I suppose? being a melee healer wouldn't imply they're like a MNK and go the 'no ranged skills whatsoever' route, just that their niche would be going in melee range, even if only temporarily. It's not like our aoes arent point blank range already, and SGE even has a gap closer, for whatever reason - this theoretical melee healer could simply have a disengage like RDM /shrug

Healers are meant to be the easy mode for tough content. It's just how the game works.

Small thing to add to this since it's purely a visual identity thing, but I would really like for Ruin II to also get different names and animations as Scholar levels up; with the new expansion, Scholar is going to now have three traits that increase Ruin II's damage without ever changing the name and animation to further separate it from Summoner.

Its not like they could have done much about SCH, amirite?

Aftee watching several videos of game journalists struggling with the basic concepts of SGE, I fear the new shiny toy will see an onslaught of new players rush to it.

They will struggle to heal and we'll see a huge wave of Tanks and Dps players complaining about their personal health batteries being defective, causing SE to dumb down healers all over the board yet again.

RDM having to delay it's Melee combo can severely impact its damage. Not to mention, it's only ever in melee range for 5-6 seconds. A healer whose primary source of DPS forced it into melee range would be near impossible to balance as it'd either wind up far too powerful in fights lacking range mechanics or comically weak having to constantly lose damage when the other healers didn't. It'd basically only work in double Caster comps, which are nowhere near as prevalent.

I wouldn't worry too much. People felt similarly about Gunbreaker. While we certainly had plenty of meme tanks, it eventually balanced out when people got over the "shiny new toy" syndrome and ran back to their old jobs.
