Again, the problem is not a video existing. but forcing the player to sit through it being unskippable. It's not just console players that don't understand how to customize. Yet forcing that on any player isn't exactly helpful. There's just a lot to absorb in the game while you're playing it. If it was an option, I have no problem. I have a problem with it being some you force especially on a console player. It does kinda come off insulting, and PC players have ways of getting around something that would be obnoxious.

Linking to a popup like the help tips where one can visit it is great. Linking a video in the Character Configuration also great. Making it some kind of unskippable video...gross. XD

It's a pointless thing to ask to be completely honest with you.

The point of a discussion forum is to discuss. Asking "why are you guys discussing this?" is a waste of time because that question can easily be answered by just reading people's opinions on the topic and also if they are posting then...I guess they are discussing because they want to.

All people are doing is using the forum for what it is there for. Now if there is a lot of harassment or name-calling etc then yeah...those people should stop doing that, but the others who are discussing civilly cannot be blamed for the actions of those people; so if they continue to discuss then no problem.

It's your opinion that everything that needed to be said has been said. Others might not share that opinion. So asking them why well...obviously if they are still posting/discussing then you know why...it's cause they aren't done yet. It is a question that automatically answers itself. As for the other post it's the same problem "why is this thread still going"...it answers itself. It's still going because obviously people aren't done discussing it, and all you did was bump the thread to keep it up top and still going. /shrug

So how high is this thread going to go? Will it break triple digits like the last one?

In the end you can't force players to do what you want, However i do agree people need to try harder at their jobs and quit being so vindictive. The whole point is to not waste more time on the daily grind than you have to. Healers help achieve this, its also more fun than to just stand there.

I try to DPS as much as I can, but sometimes can't. Just this weekend I found several tanks that would never use a simple Rampart, even when they decided to start pulling big or after being reminded cooldowns exist. So when I have to heal through a tank pulling that whole room in Stone Vigil or pulling as much as he can in Sohm Al or pulling all the corpses in Dusk Vigil I just can't find the time to heal, use the card system and dps, so I stick to the first two.

It's not really your opinion; I think anyone can read through this thread and see that everyone is just repeating the same things over and over. This "discussion" has been happening in the FFXIV community for years, there is just nothing new to be added to it anymore.

Some things do get repeated, but that is because not every person saw or participated in every healer DPS thread that ever existed. Also new people join the forums and then they don't know the history.

Just because some things get repeated doesn't mean all of it does. Simply, yes, it is your opinion that there is nothing new to be added.

I mean that is like attending a debate class and half way through someone's speech you get up and tell them "okay you are done obviously, nothing else to be said" when you literally have no idea what they might have said if you hadn't rudely interrupted them.

Who are you to tell others "you have nothing left to say so you should just stop". Sounds pretty rude right?

If you do not like the topic of the discussion you have the option to not join it. You shouldn't join it just to tell others to stop because you personally think nothing else needs to be said. It serves no purpose because the forum is here for discussions even if there are some discussions you might not like. If people want to discuss on a discussion forum then yes it is pointless to come in and say things like this.

It is fairly easy to, I think, accept that there are topics not worth discussing anymore. It's clear you have a lot of emotions on this topic, but the fact is that the vast majority of players simply do not care. Something on the order of 6% of players visit these forums. It's your opinion that this is worth discussing, for some reason; it's mine that this is absolutely pointless because literally nothing is going to change.

It's been the same points parroted over and over and over and over for four years. It is literally a waste of time to keep talking about it, and all it seems to achieve anymore is making people upset. I get that you want to have some debate over this, but a lot of people are extremely sick of seeing these threads clutter up the forums, shout chat, Facebook groups, and god knows wherever else. It's easy to avoid this particular thread. It becomes less easy to avoid it wherever else. Everyone thinks they have something unique to add to the conversation, I did too earlier, the fact is, none of us do anymore.

Also, if someone was actively participating in this debate, and has the objection that their opponent is just repeating themselves, it's not exactly rude to point that out.

Uh... you are making a lot of assumptions about me here. I am a very laid back person and while I enjoy a good debate to exercise my language skills, keep my WPM typing skills up, and keep my mind healthy I generally don't have extreme emotions about very many things on this forum. I mostly just do not like rude behavior.

If you have the opinion that the topic is pointless and a waste of time and nothing is going to change why do you waste your time posting in here or posting just to tell others to stop because you don't want to see it? If I don't want to see the stars in the sky I won't look up at night obviously.

It is not "literally" a waste of time it is just your opinion it is a waste of time. It is just a fact it is only your opinion and I know you know not everyone has the same opinions on things. I mean I've been a gamer since I was a very young girl and I've had people make fun of me for it and tell me to "stop playing those games, its a waste of time". So to them gaming is a waste of time but it isn't a waste of time for me because I want to play them.

I personally don't feel strongly either way that this topic is or isn't a waste of time but I am not going to tell other people not to discuss it simply because of how I feel about it.

If people get upset simply over people discussing something civilly then that is their own fault for reading it or participating in it. I get the problem with harassment name-calling etc, but you cannot blame everyone else and deny them the ability to talk about something just because some people are rude about it.

I mean sports IRL lots of people like debating their favourite teams and etc, just because one guy takes it too far and starts insulting someone else for liking a specific sports team... then others cannot discuss sports anymore? Does that make any sense? Punish everyone for the actions of some?

I don't really care that much actually; if you notice I rarely start topics I just sometimes participate in them when I am bored or when I feel I need to keep my mind active. I just have opinions like everyone else and sometimes I choose to share them, and sometimes it is fun to have a good debate and it keeps my mind healthy.

If you, or others, are sick of seeing the stars then don't look up at the sky at night. If you absolutely have to look at the sky at night then you'll have to just deal with seeing the stars because the stars aren't going anywhere since you have no power to get rid of them.

You are entitled to your opinion on this being a waste of time, but it really is pointless to go and tell others "don't discuss this because I think there is nothing else to say and because I don't want to see it" I mean if you want to spend your time going into discussions and telling people to basically shutup then, okay do it; I can't stop you. Just pointing out that no matter how you try to say it it comes off rude.

People having a civil discussion between each other is not rude simply because you don't like the topic of the discussion.
Coming in and basically telling them to shutup because you don't want to see the discussion or because you personally think there is nothing else to be said is rude.

Who said it was rude to point that out? I said it is rude to come into a discussion and tell everyone else to basically shutup because you think there is nothing new any of them could say and because you don't want to see it.

Also keep in mind in a debate things do get repeated sometimes because sometimes people simply don't understand, misunderstand, or simply ignore the points of someone's argument so they repeat it in a different way to clarify or to assist in helping someone understand what they are trying to convey. It is your opinion, again, that they are just repeating things but they may have a good reason to do so.

PS. I understand you or others didn't literally tell people to shutup, but in the end it is the same message you are trying to convey just hidden in nicer words...which does nothing because everyone knows what you were basically saying.
