I had a hard time trying not to laugh out loud just from reading this...
If you don't know what the first word means I suggest you stick to the actual name of the dungeon. But if you do then I /brofist you, after all that dun is full of succubi :v

The more times you run it, the better you get. Whenever I suck at a trial/ dungeon, I run it over and over until I'm better than most, lol.
I'm a WHM too and used to be the same with Titan - my first run ever, I was knocked off within the first 30 seconds and an Arcanist carried everyone through to the end while I lay there... the shame.
Now, even on the harder versions I breeze through it with barely any effort. Most of the trouble comes from the DPS who regularly get caught by the bombs and WoLs. :p
Boyfriend and I got bored today. XDQuote:
You cast Cure II.
Critical! Kallistra Noblus recovers 18129 HP.
[EDIT] Not really a horror story, but I'm sure we could have done something much more productive than trying to get the biggest Cure II crit for 3 hours.
Titan is fine once you get used to his animations. Landslide especially is really slow he does this slow turn before he does it so you can move away when he faces somebody. He'll crouch with his hands together like he's doing squats when WotL is coming up. He also does the exact same attack rotation every time so you just learn what comes in what order eventually.
So another day, another titan ex try.
queue pops, everyone gets in.
Other healer: hi first time in here
random person: Well did you read the starts beforehand?
other healer: no?
We then explained that with goal (or whatever the name is) the healer that gets targetted has to run to B and the all the rest keeps hugging his ass.
3 times in a row when i got goaled first the other healer was standing next to me followed by getting thrown off.
We had people flying off constantly, from dps to tanks to the other healer. Then 1 tank left and we got another one which just ran to the walking disaster the second everyone has respawned.
Never got to the hearth phase today.
SOMEDAY i will kill this primal and it will be glorious...but it was not today.
Why is it that somedays my reflexes are slower? I never had problems with any dungeons until Coil, but today i let people die to trash at Stone Vigil NORMAL. WHY??
And why do DKs take so much damage? OMG
There needs to be a DPS horror story thread, because I just got a major one today as a MNK. Though the healer involved was probably cursing the Tank under his/her breath at the final boss so I guess this... sorta counts?
So I land Satasha HM for High Level Duty Roulette... again, for a third time in a row. Entire dungeon is mostly smooth up until the final boss. We engage the Kraken and things proceed smoothly at first... until I notice I suddenly get the Kraken's aggro not even half way into the fight. The DRK takes it back for a little while as I go around killing the Kraken arms along with the SMN, and then go back to destroying the Kraken itself. Once again, I get aggro. I'm beginning to wonder "WTF" over here, as the tentacle arms once again start attacking me. I then actually pay close attention to the Tank as I move over to attack the Kraken again... to notice the Tank is only auto attacking. AUTO ATTACKING! Not even using his other attack skills. Just... auto attacking. I don't know if the Tank was having connection problems or what, but I never saw a disconnect symbol by his name every time I looked at him, so I assumed he suddenly got lazy.
So I have to turn on Fists of Earth just to stop taking so much damage from the tentacles, which of course isn't enough being a MNK and all. Second Wind, used. Still losing HP pretty fast. Bloodbath, quick start attacking the Kraken arms again to get HP back via attacking. STILL LOSING HP. I run back over to get in range of the SCH, who was dumping Lustrates on me now to keep me up. I die anyway.
What happens the moment I die? The Tank suddenly starts attacking again. AFTER I DROPPED. SCH swiftcast raises me and I start mauling the Kraken again, opening with a LB2. The moment I got back up? Tank stops attacking again. I began to wonder if he secretly had a personal vendetta against me, or was trying damn hard to troll me. Moments after the Kraken dies, both the Tank and the Healer quickly leave. (Tank leaves a "gg" though before leaving) I clearly wasn't the only one who noticed that the Tank was only auto attacking the Kraken though, as the SMN called it out too after the Tank left. "He did nothing to get aggro off of you. :/" ... something along those lines.
I'll pray it was connection issues over a troll attempt, but I have no means of knowing which it was exactly in this case.
Got another one. Though it's not so much a "horror story" as a "facepalm story."
Ended up with Satasha NM on DR where all the players were new to the dungeon, so I took the lead, gave them advice, etc. When we got to the large room with two sets of doors (you go through one to get the key for the other) I took them around to the right, avoiding the deck where most of the pirates were, just because it's a little quicker, and it shows them another route they can take. It's right before this that our archer decides to BRB, and he comes back just as we've made our way to the other side and have about four enemies pulled. Mr. Archer then sees us on the other side, and instead of looking a bit too his right (or even waiting for a minute), he immediately charges RIGHT ACROSS the middle of the deck, pulling every single pirate on it with him. (ꐦ ಠ皿ಠ )
Not sure if facepalm or horror... queued for leveling yesterday and got Ifrit normal. From cutscene viewing/other indicators it seemed the other players were new.
DRG immediately runs in without waiting for buffs or tank. I heal, buff party, tank gets aggro. Tank reminds everyone to focus nail when it pops. ARC and I did, DRG kept attacking Ifrit, we wipe.
I asked DRG by name why he thought we wiped. No response. We respawn...repeat opening scenario, he runs in, pulls Ifrit without waiting for buffs, ignores nail. We wipe. By this time all of us are making pointed remarks in chat calling him out by name.
Third attempt, he runs in. I buff the other party members and ignore DRG. When nail pops I dps so hard the tank dies :((((( but we passed that phase. DRG dies because I stopped healing him due to his idiot behavior. ARC kites Ifrit and I keep her healed while keeping up dot and hitting Ifrit as healing allows and we finally cleared.
DRG goes back to watching cutscene while probably thinking the whole thing is my fault. I commed the archer and got a comm but felt bad about the whole thing.
Thanks for the advice! I know I need to do it again until I can do it well... but I'm so nervous! I was the same with Brayflox, I had a couple of bad runs to start with, but now it's one of my favourite dungeons.
Thank you for the advice! I need to face him again and learn these little tics. I think my nerves got the better of me both times.
Venting here because I'm a bit frustrated and upset.
I got my first ever kick today on SoF. I had to solo all the mechanics by myself - I was the only one on cannons, then I had to release both snares and run all the way up the tower to the DK. No one else even tried. Half way through, I got a snarky "uhm why don't you try casting heals" (because the other healer was on low mana and no one else seemed to have figured out to teleport back to the start.) I said my co healer could handle it, no one else was on the mechanics, and to reset back, and he just called me retarded. Aaaall right. We got to the very end, someone randomly said "I hate you rin" and someone else said "kick her." I said I was the only one actually using the mechanics and handling everything by myself, and we failed with 2% to go. When we got back, I asked why no one else was on cannons, and I got my first kick.
It's a silly thing to get upset over, but I've had a really rough time lately and it just got to me. :(
=____=
I just got out of Qarn NM as a Tank...
The NIN... would only use AE... and not even bother with the actual positional; wouldn't follow numbers... so if I didn't catch a bee first... well, I'd had to eat the hit... (2nd boss was a pain)
The BLM... wouldn't use AoEs at all... they did once... when I had like 5 enemies on me... like 3 times and that was it... always making their goal of their life to target whatever I was not on...
The WHM... if I got hurt by 100 points... CURE! for 500... oh? walking to a boss? REGEN ON YOU BEFORE YOU EVEN TOUCH IT! DAMN you got hurt by 5 points?! CURE for 500!!
heals were coming on me faster than my heart beats :/!!
And I was a PLD with Sword Oath... (damn you lvl synch... damn you)
Managed to pull through but daaaaamn... they were a pain.
Well I wasn't healing, I was tanking, but the healer was using ironworks gear (not augmented) and the thyrus Novus in the lvl 59 dungeon. Was horrible wiped so many times.
Even better. Not too long ago, while dragging my Astrologian through Dusk Vigil, I had a tank who was in an unholy mix of lvl40~ white gear and Ironworks on the left side, along with full Dexterity accessories on the right hand side.
Buff up, set up a shield, switch back to Diurnal, Cleric Stance to get some DoTs going... "Wait, why in the world is the tank already at 1k HP?" *panic healing*
A moment later "Uh, how in the world is it possible to only have a max of 5.3k HP at this stage of the game?" *inspects gear* *eyes widen in horror*
Kill the next Mylodon, I mention that the tank should really visit the armour and accessory shops in Ishgard after we're done with this Dusk Vigil. They only reply with a "fr" to me. The DPS lol and I shake my head, looking for the nearest pillow to muffle my screams with. To add insult to injury, we had a lot of tanking gear drop, yet the tank didn't equip a single one of those items.
I... I felt so dirty carrying them. They didn't die, but they kept losing aggro, didn't use a single cooldown, kept running out of MP... It was horrifying having to heal someone that can drop dead in 10 seconds tops. The damn Bard was more durable than the tank. And now this loldrk will go on to terrorize other poor healers, thinking that their performance was just fine if we got through Dusk Vigil without many problems. D:
Just have to gripe....
Running an FCmate through Alexander T2 normal, me as a white mage. Adds dying slow, phases not being killed off before the next show up pretty much from the start and adds not being picked up fast enough so hitting everyone. This is with me doing holy spam for the first half as there's not that much healing that needs to go on. Get into the later part of the fight and there are just too many of them wandering around that should be dead and a lot of damage with a squishy tank.
We die and the tank immediately says that healers should be focus healing only and the other healer (scholar) says he was solo healing. This despite me throwing up asylum and regens before holying, throwing out medica's as appropriate. The scholar claimed that I was mana starved (never got below 2k MP and had assize and shrouds almost ready at that point). There was a point I threw out a benediction on one tank, tetragrammaton on the other to save both.
Next run I'm a little annoyed so I heal, and when everyone is at 100% health I keep regen up on the tanks, asylum as makes sense and sit on the ground to make a point until another hit comes since I'm not supposed to DPS. They don't seem to like this and the tank says I'm a CNJ so should overheal....while they're at 100% health with no hits incoming.
Go to the third run and I notice the scholar throwing stoneskin up in the middle of a phase with people still taking damage so this was not a healign downtime. Somehow he thinks that's more useful than a cure. There's a time and a place for a stoneskin.... But really? It's not even 18% HP anymore for the WHM, 10% with a slow cast and high MP cost. But I'm the one wasting MP by holy spamming and stun locking everything.
Lol I've done that sit on the floor thing in a sulk a bunch of times. Sometimes people make me so angry that I just refuse to heal at all. I'll work my ass off for people trying their best even if they are not very good but if they are bad and want to blame me for everything when I'm working my ass off then they get the sit on the floor and sulk K.R
Carried a level 60 co-healer in level 50 Daystar armour (?!) who seemed to think his job was to be dead through Urth's Font yesterday. ಠ_ಠ I can't even....
Went to the gubal library using DF.
Everything seems fine beside tanks taking a little too much damage but nothing I can't keep alive. Then we arrive at first boss, the giant book thing that cast the disclosure attack that OHKO.
Then it was nightmare. Every other party member never dodged any of the aoe resulting in them taking unecessary damage and making me spam my clean debuff spell rather than helping with dps. I mean they didn't even try !
Hopefully they knew they had to get behind the book when it cast disclosure.
Fight goes like this for a few cycle then tank and one dps suddenly decide they don't need to dodge the disclosure attack anymore and get oneshot resulting in a wipe...
Then I asked why none of them were dodging the aoe attacks and all I got for answer is : "It's our first time"
Seriously ? All the game from lvl 1 first quest to max lvl and last raid is about dodging aoe that pop under your feet. You need to do a boss a few time to learn again this fact each time ??
I felt so discouraged by this that I didn't have the will to play anymore. I left and went to sleep -_-.
Shame on me for leaving but I couldn't take it.
OH gosh! That's a nightmare!
I would have to say... My worst was...
It's Heavensward early access, day 1. Tank in iLv130 gear decides to take on Somn Al by over-pulling the start of the run, doesn't dodge AoEs and dies within the first 90 seconds of the dungeon. Gets pissed at me for not healing hard enough. =_=
I remind him that I'm not a white mage and I don't have burst heals once I burn through aetherflow.
The party continues to give me pats on the head for the entire rest of the run.
I got no commendations.
(also first post here, woo!)
^
I would have just left. I don't like people using patronising emotes and mocking me when something happened that isn't my fault. Tanks seemed to forget at that point they were not over geared anymore. The only time I want anyone patting me on the head in a dungeon is to tell me how cute I am.
Had a BLM in Fractal who didn't move out of any AOE. I even believe she managed to hit some cones on the first boss twice. Asked her after the first boss (and healing through it) if she's lagging since not dodging anything and get my head chewed off on how I am the HEALER and my job is to HEAL the HIGH DPS that she is.... Mind you she wasn't even that geared, few i170 pieces with greens.
I admit I let her die a few times during that run, would have let her die more but the other dps was a a fresh 60 and things were dying slow as it was :(
most runs are turning into healer horror stories now, everything 50 or lower is "just burn", you know how much more pressure this puts on me. everything 51-60 is getting to be "just burn", again follow f**king mechanics.
tanks in f**king str gear, a DRK in floor 1 12k hp, "oh it's not needed", died 3 times.
what do I get for keeping all your mangy arses alive? no loot no coms no ticks towards exclusive mounts like the premadonna tanks in the wrong gear.
Ran floors 1-4 as healer, 0 deaths, came out with a total of 1 comm, ran trails roulette on my drg and came out with 4. go figure...
Alwaysreapp, full STR PLD with at best upgraded law pieces; decided after first boss (after killing initial 4 enemies to degate the next area) it would be fun to pull all 4 bees, the tree, and the 3 things before second boss
IN SWORD OATH
bonus we had a blm who barely met the ilvl req, and a melee dps idr which kind so aoe wasn't that strong
double bonus this was first run on first day of AST buffs so i had no idea what it would be like
somehow we survived
somehow
i can only assume the tank did pro CD usage while i threw out syast'd bene 2's
I'm still in shock over the whole event
I'm a bit leveling my Scholar atm to see how this class works.
So I went to "Brüllvolx Langrast" last week (I really dont know how this is called in english x.x)
I didn't have to heal, for my fairy did all the work. So I've spent all my time for DPS....at the first boss I've had to help her healing twice. Everything was fine....but then the whole Party started makeing fun of me.....something like:
"Healer is just lol" or "omg the healer is just rubbish" (to say just the nice ones <.<°)
So I asked them what's going on and what's so funny?
there was one answer given:
"the moment you realize that your fairy heals better than you do!!! Learn how to heal noob"
ehm......whuuuut?
I really didn't get it x . X
Noone has died or even was in danger to!!!!!
So I didn't know what to say and they got along laughing at me....my reaction to it was that I stopped DPS, just stood there doing nothing......pretty sure they would kick me...and they did! ^^
So just to be sure....here's my question:
Have I done something wrong? Isn't it the meaning of SCH to be in Cleric all the time when fairy can do all the healing????
Assuming that your fairy was able to keep the group alive without any deaths, you were playing exactly right by contributing dps. You even said that you stopped to help the fairy a couple times when it was needed. I haven't seen it very often personally, but some groups and individuals take exception to healers dpsing. Had a co-healer on a Dhorme Chimera long ago that started to demand I leave cleric stance, even though it was early in the fight and I set up regen before starting (no additional healing needed). It sounds like they were a premade if they were ganging up like that to mock you when everyone was alive.
So recently I decided that upon reaching the Heavensward content I wanted to change roles from my DRG to an AST for my friends. So I go to my old friend DF to help me level and gear up (crafting what doesn't drop as I go)
But I think DF is trolling me because it keeps giving me paper tanks in Haukke Manor.
So Friday I get Haukke and think "this will be great, nice and fast with a chance for me to work on adding some DPS to my healing." Queue the DRK made of paper who didn't touch a single defensive ability the whole run. So I have to run after them and the two DPS to even throw on a Protect. No worries, I think to myself, they just want to speed through... And proceed to get hit with everything while doing so. One of the DPS was either lagging or distracted as they kept falling behind or stopping while the rest continued on. First two bosses go fairly smoothly as they are not really much beyond having to heal through the extra damage the group is taking. But then we get to the final boss and they all decide that as badly geared as they were they would ignore the candles, the adds and the AOE's. Tank dropped dead halfway through as I could not keep up with all the damage he was not mitigating or stepping out of and while I was swifcast rez him the ranged dps drops. I concentrate on shaking aggro and keeping the three of us alive until swiftcast is back and get the ranged DPS back into the fight. We barely beat the boss and everyone takes off as I am trying to collect my thoughts and wonder if I could have done better on that run.
Then Saturday I get almost the same thing save for the fact that this DRK doesn't use any aggro abilities so the moment his health dips and I cast a heal I get half the mobs on me. The only bright spot was that he decided to use his defensive cooldowns during the boss fights so they went smoother.
So then Monday night I'm thinking that it can't happen again and bring up DF to get my daily bonus and get Haukke one more time. Luckily by this point I had WHM high enough to gain Stoneskin so when the tank and DPS decided to stand in everything I had an extra second to keep them up though no one wanted to wait for me to cast anything before moving.
I am very much enjoying my AST and I know that I made a good choice to play it but I hesitate going back to DF for fear of yet another Haukke Manor craziness.
k so i was just in the aery leveling my ast, this summoner that was one of the dps, didn't use bane, didn't react in time enough, on nidhogg they didn't react fast enough or use bane on the mobs wiped 3 times i died twice to fetters cause the summoner wouldn't attack in time, and the summoner just barely dodged aoes after going down to almost no health, so i left.
Trying to level up my dark knight, rolled dusk vigil. I pull the first set of trash mobs and I was getting no heals at all. Healer says something to the effect of "I thought I was WHM" (he was AST). Next set of trash mobs, I die AGAIN and the healer said they weren't used to DPS stance dancing and they were also bickering with the DPS. I knew this run was gonna suck so I ate the penalty.
The real horror story is for someone else so I'll preface with a mere headache story from myself.
Last week I was leveling AST and got Haukke Manor with a MRD (not WAR) who was clearly trying but was really struggling to hold any kind of aggro. I had to wait until the poor lalafell was almost dead before starting to heal (essential dignity) to make sure they had a firm lead on aggro. I would still end up with at least one thing on me before they died.
The two dps also occasionally had aggro. It was slow and kind of a headache but we got through it.
So last night I got into Aurum Vale as MCH and thought we were going to have a similar situation. The PLD seemed to know something of what they were doing - they managed to put on shield oath after several bad macro attempts that announced it was on (it wasn't). But the instant the healer started healing them, everything except the one thing they were on went after the healer.
The first healer gave up quickly and we got a nice AST who proceeded to help us struggle through the first room. But the tank seemed to just keep getting worse. They seemed to think that the reason we wiped several times was because the dps weren't focusing on a single target and not because they ran through the middle, aggroing 6 things, 5 of which immediately went after the AST.
I don't know if they didn't get that healing generates aggro... Anyway we made it to the first boss. I was willing to stick it out if they could keep aggro on a single target. Nope. Three heals in and the boss is on the AST, who goes down, followed by me (yes, I was ahead of the tank on aggro). At that point I gave it up and left.
Their gear, btw .. they had the level 42 GC weapon, all the level 45 quest stuff, and a level 40 store bought body piece. The jewelry was just a mess.
The other dps was a monk who was actually wearing the swimsuit top. It wasn't glamoured .. they were actually wearing a lvl 1 piece of armor into AV.
Was leveling my ast on... Monday?(I think) and got brayflox for my leveling roulette, the party was a mrd, a mch, and some other dps that bailed when they saw the tank, we picked up another mch afterwards. So healing this dude is hard I'm spamming bene 2 to keep him alive, we get to second boss, he dies and didn't know how to release. (He had the green bud icon next to name only reason I was still doing this) so afterwards we go clutch mode with the tank dying on the next 2 pulls. We finally get to the last boss, I said to the dude, you NEED to dodge everything you can here, after a grace from the stars above with bole after Bole we make it out alive with me at 0 mp and the tank at like, 10% hp.
Atleast I got a level!
Edit: I was only 32. So no aspected bene
There used to be someone in my fc who wouldnt glamour, just use the equipment. They were one of the worst players I've ever met. Would just up and afk during any fight. Also a huge source of drama. We finally got rid of them and they stalked us for months, even under alts. They would ome hide behind the armorer furnace in our fc house, as if we couldnt see their name.
Those people are so stupid. Somehow they think the amount of mana you have equals how much your contribution is. Often get this as a WHM too I guess it sounds more ridiculous to say it to a SCH but even so with anyone I have these situations where the other Healer is constantly starved for mana and I'm doing fine then they start screaming saying I should be doing more and they are carrying the party. No I just have control and mana management skills so I juggle what I need to do with my mana regen CD's. Being constantly starving for mana doesn't make you good or useful it makes you terrible.
I've had people in Alex normal get mad at me (as AST) for having more mana then the whitemage who was spamming Medica/Medica 2 for 1 or 2 people being injured, even with me tossing Ewers at him, attacking and single healing those who needed it. People just don't know how to control themselves and feel if your not out of MP, your doing it wrong.
I got one last night. The Aery. I knew something was up because I'd forgotten to uncheck "In Progress" after doing some PvP. 5 seconds in, I can already tell this is going to be a doozy. The tank didn't dodge AoEs. Not a single one. Didn't even try. He also couldn't hold aggro off of the targets he marked as 1. He's losing them to me. The Bard won't use Wanderer's, nor will he stop singing Mage's, or Army. With everyone at Full TP/MP... The Dragoon liked to stand in front of everything, and eat the same AoEs the tank wouldn't dodge out of.
Boss one. Bard won't get on the boss to avoid the roomwide AoE, nobody except me is even touching the add, which is nomming on my face... The DPS passed preys not to the statues, but to me. Who then had to run them to the statues with adds still nomming on my face. That's if they didn't spawn on the tank, who would just eat them.
Boss two. DRG takes 4 poisons stacks to the face, and I'm the only one even touching the bomb. Bard is doing... whatever the bard is doing. They certainly weren't doing DPS. Tank is still squishy as hell.
The tank manages to get himself killed on the way to the third boss, when he decided to eat three conals. I managed to take all 3 mobs, dodge AoEs, and keep myself alive, so I didn't even bother with the raise.
Final boss. We survived it. Thankfully, I could make up the damage the bard couldn't do, so we managed to save the DRG. The DRG, while derpy, was at least high on DPS, so we didn't wipe. The bard was pretty much useless, the tank couldn't hold aggro on anything, and I had to pop every single CD/pot I had to keep my MP up, because the Bard decided now was a good time for Foe, even though I was the only caster, and spamming heals on the squishy party...
Great job keeping the DRG alive on second boss, with so many stacks. At 4 stacks, I don't even try healing anymore as a swiftcast raise costs me less mana than spamming cures on whoever has 4 stacks.
