I was the bad in Aurum Vale.
I work at a computer and I've been getting wrist pains for about a week, nothing severe but I figured I should probably find a way to rest my wrists a bit while playing. Cut the mouse where possible. So, I decided to try going controller while playing and while DPS has been fun and in many ways easier, healing and tanking less so.
I rolled Aurum Vale on Warrior, the healer was a sprout, I believe first time in. I warned the group I might go slow because I was learning how to play the job on a controller. But, I've ran it many times so what could possibly go wrong? Everything on a knife edge, it seems. While nobody died we had quite a few near misses.
One time I managed to turn tank stance off, don't know how because that button is buried on my sub hotbar. Didn't notice, aggro flew everywhere. Then with the Diremites, I managed to switch my main hotbar out and was stood staring at my hotbars wondering where my buttons had gone whilst the poor sprout healer was having their face eaten by a pack of diremites and I was trying to figure out how to get my cross hotbar back. It was rough and sorry if the healer gets PTSD for AV in future. lol
I did not realize the second boss in Lapis Manalis dungeon insults you if you fail/eat mechanics after beating her until the other night.
First time in any game I've PvPed willingly - heck, my only shot at a PvP game ever was HotS when a friend dragged me into it - and it's such a rollercoaster. This probably isn't a big deal, but man I love this simply for the "demon Lalafell summoning Bahamut on you and thrusting rocks in your face" memes.

Last night in Eup my groups tank was eating Vun stacks like hot cakes. He no doubt was thinking "MMMM TASTY!!!"
Had a slightly weird Lapis Manalis this morning. The healer was pulling all mobs ahead of the tank and the tank would not rotate the bosses away from the rest of the team. I suppose in terms of weird duty finder experiences this is not that severe, but it was so early in the morning I kind of had to take a minute to realize what was happening, because something felt off.
Wait, what? I need to run that more. I've never noticed that, even when I did eat mechanics in my first few runs of it....experimentation time!
Sometimes it's easier to eat the vuln stacks(especially during the frogs/treemen fight after first boss) and keep everything grouped together nicely. Last night I got up to 7 or 8 stacks on that, on WAR, without a problem
Here's the 6:30 AM mentor roulette experience:
>instant meridianum
>tanking because the worst tanks and healers seem to play between midnight and noon
>pre-pull Regen messes up pull
>stops healing entirely for the last 30% of the first boss
>die right as the boss does
>raise macro
>meridianum pops again two roulettes later
Only 230 more runs to to go.
So my curse continues. What curse you may ask?
The curse that, if I were to say 'I'm going to die,' someone else dies instead.
Decided to run BLM (I'm unbelievably rusty and rather undergeared with this job) with a couple FC mates to get more astronomy for crafting mats last night. FC mates came as another BLM and PLD. We get a SGE for our random healer and get Lapis Manalis to pop.
Things go pretty well (second boss' speed is still a bit much for my hamster dps brain) up until the last boss. Well, he starts doing his zoomies when I parked myself near some red and realized out loud 'I'm going to die.' I had a vuln stack, and normally anything else will most likely kill me.
Co-BLM FC mate dies legit 3 seconds later the moment I said that in discord chat. Like full to zero.
Co-BLM FC mate cries at me saying I cursed him yet again. PLD FC mate is laughing too hard to do some of the mechanics right. He nearly dies but lives because tank privilege. We clear and I get told to just stop doing that.
I can't help it. D:
I broke my streak of having an unbroken Portrait again today. It hurt to see. But things have mostly been uneventful in the Roulettes I do so that's pretty much the most interesting thing that happened.
To the DRG we had last night in the latest trial:
If you're going to just afk the entire fight, please don't queue. He took much longer to drop since you weren't participating in the duty. You weren't accepting rezzes either after a certain point, and if you don't understand mechanics, please speak up instead of just giving up and being the pro floortank.
Sincerely,
One very annoyed whm that dumped way too much mp on sustaining you and the party.

JUST LET ME HAVE MY BATHROBE OF VICTORY.
Wanted to do a level 90 dungeon to finish my khloe book.
Asked my GF to join me, so I invited her. She was not immediately ready, so I clicked a bit through the PF.
I saw 2 DPS looking for a 3rd DPS and a Tank for expert roulette.
Of course we joined with me as a WAR.
The dungeons can be fun and quite challenging when you don't have a healer.
We did two rounds, both about 15min with in total of 4 death's in the rounds, all 4 due to laggs.
When I did it earlier that week I had one run that took 30min and it had a DPS who complained about not getting healed enough.
I got the Striking/Aiming tops last 2 weeks because for many they were not appealing, at least for me I glam as the nerd punchy character.
I am trying so hard to not spam this raid for the healer/caster top though because I know the desire sensor is real lol.
Only done 2 times this week's raid for the maiming chest piece, I want to apologise to the healer for eating all the aoes in the 2nd trash fight, the floor is just so hard to see x.x
I have seen every single top and pretty much know most of the mechanics to the fights... enough so that I can do it half asleep. I just want the healer top so I can stop running it. Because by the time I'm done at this point, I'm pretty sure I can augment all of my current healer gear and my tanking gear on top.
I know this is super petty, but watching half the alliance raid tell themselves good job in chat and pat themselves on the back while the other half of the alliance is dying to random adds that the tanks are picking up(and healers aren't really healing, had a tank die themselves due to it) just... burns me.
But I'm also tired of having to be the bitch that speaks up and says that things aren't okay, so I just let it go.
Queued for EX roulette, got Lapis Manalis. Loaded into a group with what I would quickly realize was a low tier FFXIV YouTube personality and frequent lore forum poster. The first thing they say to me is that I will be kicked if I take any amount of avoidable damage at all. Normally I'd just leave after reading something that dumb at the start of a dungeon, but I was in a hurry and just wanted it done. So we get to the first boss. What happens? Everybody but me eats a bunch of mechanics and bites it.
I ask if they'd rather I die on purpose, as it will probably take longer if I solo the boss. They say to go ahead and try to kill it, because "Lapis Manalis bosses can't be soloed" and "WAR players are all bad at the game anyway." Easy solo clap, to the surprise of no one with a any amount of neural activity. I get kicked almost immediately afterward, which also shouldn't surprise anyone.
Not exactly worth the amount of wasted time, but it was still pretty funny.
If you got your shiny weekly drop, for gods sake don't leave immediately and help finish the damn duty.
Had one in Syrcus Tower last night with 2 people from my FC. It was rough, I was tanking - second time tanking an alliance raid, first time tanking Syrcus. I posted this on the Reddit TFDF, so link to screenshot. Im summary:
Slightly early pull from one of our group on the first boss, I take aggro and the other tanks come and start fighting for aggro. When the adds spawn nobody deals with them so I let the other two duke it out and go to help with adds. There are some deaths as a result.
After its down, our healer asks tanks to deal with adds, Alliance B's tank starts mud slinging.
Alliance B's tank and both of our healers end up arguing for the entire raid while people die left and right and I'm left tanking bosses using a Storms Path rotation to stay alive. It was super rough.

Feels odd posting in this thread - I usually visit it expecting to see someone post about the poor performance of a team I was in!
Anyway, I've been levelling Reaper and queued for a Levelling roulette earlier. The Aurum Vale popped and I joined, hoping for a smooth run as was slightly against the clock to leave for work IRL.
Joined the team and 'Hi there's' were exchanged. Two sprouts, one mentor and me - a Warrior, White Mage, MCH (the Mentor) and a Reaper (me)
Sadly it went to pieces very early on. I mean, I guess the sprouts need to be given a pass for the most part, as they're new..... but the (sprout) tank kept planting themselves in the goldbile puddles and dying. The healer didn't seem to have a grasp on 'healing' and seemed to favor trying to DPS the monsters instead. Both died repeatedly from DOT and monster attacks, leaving me and the MCH to fend off the monsters - and I'll confess that both myself and the MCH ended up overwhelmed and died too. This happened repeatedly.
And to be honest, as guilty as I feel about it, I ended up bailing on the instance. The same mistakes kept being made, the recommendations to not stand in puddles from the MCH, and to eat the fruit from me, were not acknowledged and in the end I didn't see that it was worth being late for work to complete this. :(
Healing really so boring this expansion that nobody wants to heal? lol

So apparently this week I'm not supposed to run Alliance Roulette. Every time I have queued for it since Tuesday I've gotten one of the CT raids, which are always an instant nope from me since I am sick and tired of getting them. Good thing there is crafting I can do to rebuild my stock of materia for melding.
Same although healer usually insta-queues anyways while tank takes a few minutes. The AIN bonus doesn't usually update fast enough.
Anywayssssssssss...
You have to sometimes wonder why the devs went through so much trouble adding buff icons for things like raises in the party member list. Half my party wipes in an alliance raid. I swift raise my co-healer, start working on slow raising the last party member in the list that wiped. A couple seconds before finishing co-healer swift raises them, ignoring the other dead party members. Was a bit fumed but didn't think anything of it.
Later on co-healer also decided to start yoinking me to my death on the last two bosses later on. I asked in chat, got ignored. Someone else noticed and asked the second time, and they spoke up to deny it and literally no one said anything about it for the rest of the raid. I didn't res them later on in those bosses, and they didn't say anything when I left them dead either, but one of our SMNs/RDMs or someone from another alliance res'd them eventually.
Bothered me enough that I reported it post-raid, but I am taking a bit of pleasure in knowing they probably did it because they were upset that they were eating the dirt after every other mechanic.
So apparently I caused a healer in Mt Gulg to raise an eyebrow because I dared to start some trash pulls with hallowed. How dare I give them an opportunity to do damage with an invuln whose only downside is its long cooldown.
They also are probably why the dungeon felt marginally longer because they did not holy very much in trash pulls.
…They also sometimes healed me with Cure 1. I later found out they apparently have done savage?
To be completely fair, it might have been more beneficial to pop it after you had stopped pulling, because they couldn't have used Holy much on the move. Unless a tank is super squishy, I don't see a need for defensive CDs mid pull. After coming to a stop, sure, that is pretty much expected. That also gives your healer more room to breathe so that they may do some damage. If I'm misunderstanding the situation, I apologize, but this is what it sounds like to me.
