Before patch 3.01, everything was ok. Now I'll get error 90002, 90001 and 2002 every 2-5 minutes rendering the game unplayable.
- Atlantic Broadband
- US Aiken, South Carolina
- mostly during daytime hrs. (starts early like around 11 or noon and the lag comes and goes to later in the evening like 7/8 pm...if I'm lucky)
Before Heavensward, my experience had been fine for the most part---connection wise. But post expansion, I've been having to log on super early or really late in hopes of enjoying the game lag free. I've tried resetting my router, lowering or turning off effects for others in game, even tried that 'port forwarding' stuff recently. No help. I don't know what else to do. Other folks in my free company don't seem to experience lag as much as I do. And when I play other games, stream Netflix, pull up something on my smartphone or just mess around on my laptop...no issues. It's just this game that I have problems with lag. And like I said, it wasn't always like this.
On PS4 version -- Aether data center...if that matters or helps w/anything.

ISP - Verizon Fios
Location - United States (New York City)
Occurs on and off normally, but is near unplayable during prime time from 6PM to Midnight (Eastern Time) everyday with lag spikes of over 10 seconds delays.
I noticed a majority of us with the Lag Issues in the USA is using Verizon Fios...
- Name of ISP: Verizon Fios 150/150
- Country of Residence: United States - East Coast
- When does the problem occur (always, only during specific times?): Occurs every day from 6PM EST-12AM EST. It's playable between 6PM-8PM EST and 11PM-12AM EST but unplayable between 8PM EST-11PM EST. I receive huge lag spikes, sometimes as long as 30 seconds. This makes dungeon healing and dodging impossible. This issue started with HW, specifically after the instanced areas were removed.
- Reference number from your ISP, if you raised this matter with them: I did not contact them because everything other than FFXIV works perfectly.
Verizon Fios 50/50
United States (West Coast)
The lag Spikes usually--if not always--happen around the hours of 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM PST. The lag causes everything in the game to stop moving except for my character. Often when the lag occurs, few skills will go through and then everything will happen instantly--like watching the fighting fast-forwarded. I contacted my ISP about this but all they did was refresh my router settings. Everything outside of FFXIV works fine.
Name of ISP: Verizon FiOS
- Country of Residence: United States - East Coast
- When does the problem occur (always, only during specific times?): Problem has been occurring around 6pm EST, and lasts until around 11pm EST. Rubberband lag and occasional disconnects plague me in this timeframe. Issue has been relevant for over 5 months now.
- Reference number from your ISP, if you raised this matter with them: No reference # was given, just an explanation by them that they "cannot change the route", and that there is nothing they can do about it since "it is on Square-Enix's end".
ISP: Verizon FIOS
Country of residence: USA - Northeast
Time of occurrence: Evening primetime usually starts by 7pm eastern and lasts well into the night/early morning hours - whether during group play, solo play, in or out of dungeons there will be periods 2-3 seconds of completely stopped gameplay and then everything catches up again - no other parts of my internet service is affected during this time, interestingly even actual P2P isn't affected, I can download files on bittorrent at full speed (did a test on Ubuntu's torrent and pulled it down at 5MB/s) while FFXIV lagged hard
Reference number: Have not yet contacted ISP, was seeing if this was an issue on Square Enix's end especially since this seemed like it got worse after the 3.0 patch
Hangs are happening between hops 9 and 16. This is an occurring issue for a handful of members for my FC. Australia, Singapore, Philippine, Indonesia, and Korea users. While not all, but the same issue is happening to over a dozen users. Can't be coincidence.

On that last point - it's probably pointless to try figuring this out now. I'll be switching to a new ISP within a month or two.

Is this thread even getting info gathered?
There was a thread from 2 years ago also and I find if I perform a traceroute, that I find the issue is the same. The reason I lag is TATA Communications, not because my ISP is treating FFXIV as P2P.

-Verizon Fios
-Maryland, U.S.A (Close to D.C area) Almost every time I log in ever since 3.01 patch. It's been getting worse and worse with lag spikes from 3-8 seconds long. Had no issues prior to this patch. It's almost unplayable at this point needs to be addressed A.S.A.P.!
-Did not contact my ISP because it only happens with this game. I can run a dozen twitch streams and Netflix streams and youtube vids all at once if I wanted too and not even one issue.
- Name of ISP: Telstra
- Country of Residence: Australia
- When does the problem occur: Happens all day long, ever since the emergency maintenance that occurred this week. Progressively gets worse as the day edges to peak hour, but significant packet loss at all times during the day now.
- Reference number from your ISP: n/a. Spoke to them online, they insist its not their issue.
Tracing to the JP servers indicates a large issue with a JP ISP or service route there.

The same issue as everyone who posted here. I have even changed ISP 3 times, feeling horrible for spending so much money on internet just to get a stable connection to play this game, yes this game only. I'm on Tonberry Server.

This lag has been terrible since the 1st 3.0 patch. It started out as just lag in dungeons making most fights unbearable. Literally freezing and then jumping ahead. Now after this NA ISP maintenance I'm lagging in the open world. The game is becoming unplayable.

- all throughout the day. it's a hit or miss if i get lag spikes in the late evenings, which is when i'm forced to play since its damn near unplayable for me during the afternoon and peak hours in the late afternoon
i've pinged the north american servers and 1 of 4 attempts i time-out everytime. i thought changing from a wired to a wireless connection would help since support loves to ask that question but to no avail: i'm still getting lag spikes and 0 received packets in-game consistently. is this thread just a way to contain these complaints instead of address them? i've had this problem since 2.0 launched.
