It's even more braindead than you think. Just buff yourself with moonflute, boost, etc and final sting typhon. You can buff yourself on ultros, use peculiar light+ toad oil too and self destruct. Then on the third act you'd just repeat what you did on act 1. If it doesn't kill you'd just hope for a direct hit/crit and typhon is instantly dead.

Even though you're killing yourself you don't fail as long as the boss dies. I got the three blue mage achievements within half an hour with trial and error after seeing the requirements.

From what I see, BLU is a case of willingness to put in resources. The current BLU is absolute hot garbage not even worth having a job in its title.

When I reached 50 with about half of the spell book learned, I went into Aurum Vale with hope that that I can use this so called "OP" job to solo a lvl47 dungeon to learn glower myself. I was unfortunately murdered by 3 adds at the entrance of the dungeon. I ended up asked a lvl70 friend to carry me there multiple times to finally learned it. I stopped caring for this nonsense after I finished the final job quest and got the BLU set.

None of it were fun. My lvl50 BLU does some of the most pathetic damage that is sub par to any other normal jobs that had an equivalent lvl and gear. None of those monster spells are actually OP. Bosses in general are immune to a lot of status effect, even regular mobs can not allow you to CC/sleep/stun/freeze them forever because they gain resistance after just like WHM cannot holy stun forever. Nothing BLU can bring on the table is amazing. If you tell me BLU's OPness comes from that he can one shot trash mobs, then I'm would worry about how delusional you actually are.

Now let's talk about the reasons Yoshi-P gave on LL.

Yoshi-P said he didn't want BLU in FFXIV: I don't know why he then added BLU even in this sad form and shape. The reality is that you got BLU here despite that some of us will never recognize this garbage as BLU.

BLU is limited job because traditional BLU does not fit in FFXIV's job system: Then don't add BLU. I don't know and don't give a flying damn about what BLU is supposed to play like. BLU is a Final Fantasy job and if it cannot work in FFXIV's environment, then pick the other 100+ jobs out there in Final Fantasy series. I don't why you insist so much on bring back the BLU nostalgia, when you know it does not work. This is even more of an insult to players wanting to see true SMN of FF series in XIV.

Furthermore, our SMN isn't the FF SMN, it's a ffxiv version SMN that is unique of its own, so why can't you make a unique xiv BLU if you are gonna do it in the first place? My guess is that you are so unwilling to have BLU that you put in little resources for it's creation. However, no matter how little you put in BLU, all of them are wasted.

BLU cannot queue DF because people can kick BLU for not having certain spell learned: This is the most absurd excuse/nonissue I have ever heard. Everyone go into dungeon are expected to contribute. If a tank didn't learn tank stance, a healer didn't learn aoe heal, or a damage dealer didn't get the most powerful action via job quest; everyone would kick them if they knew. I have absolutely zero clue why this suddenly becomes a concern for BLU. This isn't toxicity. This is play fair.

Now BLU is on the table, what's done is done. I have 3 ways to fix this mess.

1. Make BLU truly OP so it can solo any lvl50 content. Make it tanky like lvl70 dps would. Make all potencies way higher. Make BLU's CC unable to be affected by resistance. Stop worrying about OPness because no one cares about irrelevant lvl50 content.

2. Make BLU a true normal job and rebalance/rework all of the monster ability BLU can use.

3. Apologize to playerbase and make the BLU set universal glamours because BLU is not happening and you really don't want to put resources into it.

For the time being, BLU has only one utility for me:

Swift Cast + Self Destruct = No cd Return

I've been taking Blue Mage to the Gold Saucer. Seemed like the most appropriate thing to do.

Final Sting didn't work for me for some reason, even fully buffed. I had to use self destruct after doing a little damage to her. I actually enjoyed the Ultros fight after that, not to many hit points and imp song, while annoying if you let it go off, wasn't a one hit kill. Not to mention I learned Aqua Breath and am freaking loving that ability.

It isn't that I can't beat these things, its just that in many cases its frustrating to do so if you choose to not cheese them. Typhoon is a particularly frustrating example since you HAVE options that should allow you to survive but for some reason Squenix thought it was a great idea to have Fireball ignore that. Which leads to what, a thirty second cycle of constant Snorts and fireballs? Yes, it lines up with Steadfast and you have just enough time to spam white wind but even a second of hesitation or lag and you die.

Don't get me wrong, a lot of these fights are well designed. Just that the ones that aren't, make you pull your hair out in frustration.

Are you sure the fireball ignores Mighty Guard? It does well over half my health without any mitigation, which is why I've learned to use Diamondback whenever there is a Snort incomming.

Whoops, you're right. Went back and died to her a couple more times and regular does 3600 and Mighty Guard does 2100, my bad. I must have been out of it when I posted that, my apologies.

I'm hearing Japan actually like it limited so.....u know what they say in Japan goes.......I hate it I even hate the masked carnival and how we die so quick but we supposed to be oh so powerful gtfo
