This is a complete mess.
Some Morrisons stores do stock them but it's only a few. They only stock a maximum of two, from what I know. Two seems to be the maximum order from the wholesale suppliers to the stores unless there's another arrangement, like a standing order for customers who are known to always buy it.
Tried my local shop on Thursday but seems like they don't have GamesMaster any more.
Tried a shop a bit further out on Friday but likewise they don't have it.
If I can't find the motivation to try a different town then I guess I will skip the promotion, see how I feel tomorrow...
Square Enix community manager, please answer this question.
How are you going to handle the simple fact that many players in the UK will be unable to participate due to the sell out of magazines to be mailed, and limited availabilityof copies at retailers? I feel sure that there will be many UK players who will miss out on this promotion because of the poor availability of a magazine with a monthly circulation of less than 20,000 copies. How areyou going to compensate players who wanted to participate but due to factors beyond THEIR control, it's impossible for them to do so?
I just had a weird idea... they said they would have different promotions for some specific countries in the EU, since we do have EU accounts will promotions on that country work for those in the countries affected by this crappy magazine promotion?
Bumping this up cos I'm waiting for an official response to the issues. What really sucks about this is the lack of assurance and communication which IMHO is much worse than the support you get from crappy telcos. This is one of the many things that SE tries to sweep under the rug.
Also some update from Reddit. Some people are getting duplicate copies of the code [Link]
There does seem to be a lack of compassion and understanding, probably because they are only viewing it from the corporate angle and not from their customers/players point of view. If the staff actually were in our position and were merely customers who wanted these items but had to use the UK promotion then they too would probably not be very happy about it either and there wouldn't be such a lack of empathy about it. They do not seem to mind about the negative reputation they are building up over how poorly promotions have been handled of late, not just the UK promotion but the NA one too which was open to abuse.
I do not even know if they care about the fact it was a poor decision in terms of choosing an amazingly low circulation magazine, limited to just one of the types of magazines from that publisher instead of many of them which would at least give people some choice, the fact there is not enough supply to meet demand due to the issue of being an apparently low quantity print run that the supplier has already run out of in-house of which was limited to physical copies of that one type of magazine instead of having a potentially unlimited stock from a digital only option too. Plus the fact people are rightly upset that they see that JP and NA players get to have all their items within 24 hours but we have to wait 3 entire months.
It feels disproportionate/unfair for EU players to suffer in this way potentially because of how another region aka NA players abused the Amazon deal. It's not fair to punish us so extremely for other peoples actions in my opinion, especially since a lot of the people who abused the NA promotion could not care less about the effect it has on others which became blatantly obvious to me when I tried to convince them to stop abusing the NA one...so they won't learn their lesson from punishing us via giving us a very bad/raw deal in their place. Specifically I do not think I should suffer for what they did, I didn't abuse anything yet the raw deal offered to us for our promotion feels like might have been partially in retaliation for their actions...actions that I actively tried to stop them from doing via mentioning the immorality of the abuse and emphasizing the terms of the Amazon deal plus explaining the concept of cause and effect to them.
