Agreed. Even with global AH (all servers share the same) GW2 have pretty healthy economy and flooding (AFAIK) was never a problem, on the contrary not being forced to buy preset quantities will make that harder not easier.

I'd like to see them do what guild wars 2 did. Throw all the items together and allow the buyer to specify how many they want say 30. It will come back with the 30 cheapest. It would break up the stacks automatically and the rest of your stack is listed on top. Who cares if it breaks up your stack? Are you no longer going to farm/craft the stacked item? I would rather make some gill then none. I have bought a single item for 200 Gil before even though someone was selling a stack of them for 200 Gil. If your stack would have been broken up that 200 would have been yours. Just an example. I'm sure companies do the same thing. They want to make money they don't care how many you buy as long as you buy from them.

personally I like how it is, I buy and sell on a regular basis and yeah sometimes I have to buy more than I need but I use them in future synths to make more gil,

if your trying to make everything in the game then yeah you may only want to buy 1 or 2 of something but in truth you can just go gather some of everything in the game and spend no gil doing it running from zone to zone. as for most enemy drops they are super cheap and the rarer items are usually sold in small quantities.

as other people have said if everything was selectable quantities then the market would crash as everyone would want to be position 1 to sell there stuff. so you'd make no gill in the long run being a gatherer or crafter.

the way it is now prices can become stable and you can make steady gil from some stuff, and if you find there's too much undercutting going on then its prob's time to start selling something else.

if you don't like the competitive side of the mb stay away, as when you get to making the higher end gear the profit is great but the competition is fierce, you should just look at it as another challenge in the game that you can learn to master instead of asking for it to be made super easy to the point that there is no challenge left in the game.

Ofcoz, buyers always take advantage from undercutting.
If it happens, I foresee a lot of posts blaming those players who undercutting. ^^;

I personally like how it operates currently.

While it costs a little extra, you might consider buying a stack and then sell the unneeded items in smaller stacks at a premium.

When I gather or make items to sell, I generally want them all gone (sold) as soon as possible. I don't really like the idea of watching a stack sit there, selling slowly.

What the developers might consider is allowing us more sell slots per retainer, or perhaps a checkbox with the option to "Sell these items in stacks of 10 at this price".

I agree. Because I am tired of buying stacks of 99 and having to resell 98 :|

Some sellers want you to buy all or nothing and they will almost ALWAYS give you a discount per item when you buy large stacks. SE has to either give the seller an option to put it up as "all or nothing" or just leave the system the way it is. Here is a fact: if people are able to buy however many the want from a stack, the prices of cheap items will go up significantly because the profit from them would become too small. It will also likely take extra processing power. On the other hand, it is very convenient. In the end though, it don't matter to me what SE does, the pros and cons on both sides are about equal.

Letting a buyer pick one form a pack only encourage all sellers undercut.
I don't think it is an improvement to current system while many players complaining about undercuttings.

On the contrary, if all the items are clumped together and not in discrete stacks there will be no way to "just adjust price" -- one will need to pull the items out (and pay the listing fees) then re-list the items with changed price -- if that's not deterrent to the undercutting I'm not sure what is.
