They should absolutely be somewhere in this round of relic questing. I think there's a set of player made armor that was put in a dungeon and then made it to the crafting log for EW. Putting it up for MGP just doesn't seem right.

Why do those people have to be mutually exclusive? I love Hildy. I'm not bothered by relic grinds. My main concern would be if Hildy gets locked behind relic steps in case I needed to stop because they do something like Eureka again after all, but I find that unlikely since Hildy has always been its own thing. And that makes me think even more than we won't have more than a cameo at best from him, and this will focus more about Godbert and other characters we meet in the Hildy line. Because otherwise the relic line would need to stay in step with what's going on in Hildy and right now (given what just happened in the latest entry) that would be rather difficult without making them linked.
Just do it.
The problem with Eureka and Bozja in comparison to ARR and HW is that once you fulfilled the prerequisite in ARR and HW, you could access the entire questline for the given expansion's relic weapon. There were no further requirements just to unlock the quest except completing the previous step.
Eureka and Bozja don't work that way. You have to not only meet any prerequisites just to start the quest, but you have roadblocks where you must progress through the exploration zone content and reach certain milestones just to unlock the next quest in the series. And you still have the same grind present in the quest-focused series on top of that.
I get the sense it will be like this as well. I remember some commentary on Hildi when it was skipped in Shadowbringers, like they did so because it was always the same old thing. Just look at the name of the series "Somehow further..." It sounds like they figured out a way to please fans and perhaps tie things up for a while, as well as do something a little different for relics (and Godbert / Gerolt).
54 pages just for that? Damn we're really living in a paradise if that's enough to get people rilled. Frankly people really seem to miss a very obvious reasons of tying the unlock requirements to the Mandeville Questline. It's the questline that incidentally gives us the most required information about Godbert. That and establish relationship he has with WoL (Which is that we're friends to his son). It's also the only questline that gives us insight into his incredible skills even if those were played for a joke. Repairing the shattered vase (and later reworking it further)) or basically rebuilding Vivi twice without ever damaging any of his unique components/mechanisms. Frankly Hildi quests also cover up things we learn in other much more obscure side content - his status as a member of Syndicate, his good nature both in repairing the vase for free and his promise to use his status to try and undo the Ul'dah revisionist history writing. All those tightly packed in a joke Questline.
As people have mentioned the gating around Bozja was vastly higher than Hildibrand but are we really going to complain about gating using content? I mean if they were gating content based on something that CAN'T be done by someone (eg Savage because various people aren't in a position to fulfill that gate) then I would understand but it's an MMO, doing stuff to access stuff is part of the whole design concept. Are we going to complain about every blue marker quest in the game on an item-by-item level? At least Hildibrand is accessible to anyone who can summon the will and skill to press a mouse button.
If you don't do Hildibrand, you mostly missed the action where our character has the unique animation that never happened at MSQ, and I'm talking about EW Hildibrand :)
And the best dance in the game!

The quest line is worth it simply for the rewards and the instanced duties are quite fun and different. Frankly for those with one main I'm surprised they've passed up the questline. I've done it on my alts recently simply because I'm expecting some cool new rewards from the new questline and did it before they announced it would be needed for relic.
Relative to the duties you can unsync the 1st 3 of them solo but need a group for the trial.
Edit: You need 3 90's for the trial unsynced cause at least in my experience two won't kill it fast enough and there is a mechanic that makes having a 3rd necessary don't want to spoil it so I won't say more.
