Gardening - Harvesting

I was using Grade 3 Thanalan soil. But I also fertilized the plants quite a bit during their growth cycle. I didn't realize 9 sylkis buds was unusual.

don't know if this was already mentioned, but Chocobo food during battle does not stack. Curiel root gives +10% XP without Favorite Feed effect. If your chocobo dies or is unsummoned, the food effect disappears (unlike players food effects that are persistent)

Thavnairian Onion + Shroud Tea Leaf = Sylkis Bud OR Mandrake seeds

I have a feeling that if there is an actual Thav Onion loop, the yield chance is gonna be split with another seed. :/

So far most other crosses only give one seed. Crosses with Chocobo foods have been known to produce multiple seeds, but from what I have seen so far it is a rare occurrence. Maybe you got lucky, maybe this is how crosses with Thav. Onions work. Either way, thanks for answering!

*now off to try and figure out a nice chain that includes Apricot x Thav. Onion* You know, for when I finally have onions myself

Are you sure you read that screenshot correctly? Ezzelin got a yield of 9 Sylkis Buds, not seeds.

You can get more than one seed per yield if you use Shroud soil.

Plants still have a small intercross chance even if you don't use Thanalan soil. If it intercrosses with Shroud, you'll get an increased seed yield as well. Fair warning though. It's a huge gamble because you may end up with no seeds in a cycle. This week, I got one intercross in a Krakka + Chamomile cycle, but it was 12 Pearl Ginger seeds. :/

But all it takes is one cross with Shroud soil to make it worth two gardening cycles for seeds.

Although, if you personally die, the chocobo food effect is still present (I screwed up and died in Urth's Gift, released and came back, and the food was still on).
