Yeah... I remember film photography... where you had to agonize whether or not to take a picture and hope to take it right since you only had 36 pictures per film... and developing wasn't exactly cheap since you had to develop and print all of them even if it turned out some of them were bad.
I remember developing b&w film with my father though, was pretty interesting to do it yourself... mom wasn't impressed though since the developing solution left black stains on the bathtub xD
I'm using a canon 500D atm, pretty decent for its price and not really inferior to the 60D... all the 60D has is the rotating display and a bit faster shooting speed. About the only reason I went with a canon is because we already had several lenses for them, from the analog times. I hear Nikon is better bang for the buck though.
