FFXIV 2nd expansion: Viera-like race still a possibility?

With so much discussion of the inclusion of Viera i am surprised so few art examples are used to get the point across.

As for the issue of reworking armor and clothing, i don't feel it would be so big a problem. Rabbits are able to lay down their ears flat.

So I did a bit of an experiment and made a "Viera" in game last night. The responses that I get from her already are overwhelming and positive! Still new on the forums so I'm still learning rules/etiquette about posting images, but here are my results:

She does feel too "bulky" and large to be a Viera so I'd love to see something more elegant and agile with style to match.

As for races like Ronso or something more fierce/"monster"-esque, I'd love to see both added. Variety is nice and would make good contrast for an expansion!

I think Viera ears might not be able to lay down like that. Maybe 'flat' and to the back (as seen in the Tactice Advance picture), but that wouldn't look good in hoods and helmets. So SE will either have to redesign everything just for the Viera, so their ears wouldn't look horrible when wearing hats, hoods, helmets, etc, or just let their ears clip through everything (or give them ear socks everyone loves).

I'd still prefer an original race or more options for the current races... or Beastman Glamour. I don't see what's so interesting/great about Viera

There is my opinion about Vieras as the new race.

Thought issue was legs, not ears.

If we are getting a Viera it will be a Eorzea version of it, this means:

1. The race will not have bunny feets. SE has said many times, they do not want to design extra stuff when it comes to armour design, hence why we dont have stuff like belts or butts. SE does not want to do extra stuff, the odds of a full beast race or a race with animal feets and hands will not happen. They will always have hyur hands and feets.

2. The race will be close to a race that alot of players are playing in other words: Au Ra, Lalafell, Midlander and Miqote. The FFXIV Viera will be around the same height as female Au Ra, Midlander and Miqote. SE has even made a Viera design for FFXIV. As you can see from this image down here, the Viera looks nothing like the Ivalice Viera. This Viera looks more like a female Au Ra, Miqote, Lalafell and Midlander then a tall fierce warrior race.

I want the Ivalice Viera, but the bunny feets and the fact that the Ivalice Viera looks nothing like a cute highschool from an anime, is probably one of the reasons why we will not get it. Polls in Japan from 2014 have shown that the 1# thing they want in a new race (mostly for female avatars) is to be like Miqote, cute. Remember Au Ra was not supposed to look like our current ones, they were strong, demonic, fierce and not cute at all. But SE looked at what the majority are playing and decided to copy a female midlander and add horns with the males, its a Elezen with hips and horns.

If we arent going to get Ivalice Viera or a unique race and instead another midlander + animal parts, I rather wish we did not get any new race and they just add more faces, ears etc.

Can be both. The ears will either clip through headgear and look ugly, or be in ear socks (like Miqo'te, Elezen and Lalafell), which will look very bad.

I am pretty sure Vieras will be a playable race, there is even 2 clans of Viera that already exist :

-the "wood" vieras : dark skin, white/grey hair (some have dark hair), long ears, shorter lifespan than the other clan

I'd personally prefer to see the option to mix races (as this has been brought up in one of their Q&A before), rather than creating a new race yet again. The primary purpose to Au Ra was to promote the theme of this expansion, the world's involvement with Dragons on a personal (giggity) level. But with the supposed rumors of a more oceanic theme for the next expansion, I can't imagine there being a pleasant race that'd be fitting for players to work with.

Plus, I still want my Highlander Miqo'te. >_>
