You are probably right then if they are sharing the same engine. It is visually mind blowing to the point I have to wonder if Capcom had help from aliens. lol

So I moved to Balmung a couple days ago and I've not been assaulted by a Female Au Ra with a huge weapon yet. Frankly I'm disappointed. I thought it was the degeneate capital of FFXIV? I even waited around the Quicksand and everything.
Four Job Fiesta for FF5 is definitely a challenge. Started it last week, and holy crap have I been learning how to survive here, with no aoe heals in the group and just a Time Mage for Rod breaking and healing with Healing Staff. Made it to the final 1/3rd of the game, but what a trip man...

Well, this is officially the most I've spent on a single model kit. The HMM Gojulas has finally been dethroned.
I hope they keep the cheesy sides of Dragons Dogma, that pop song at the start is awesome lol.
It added a lot of charm to the game.
They originally took it out with the Dark Arisen version of the game. But what replaced it was pretty good and fit the themes of the game.
Trying to get my good friend from XIV and sort of XI to do a co-op playthrough of Elden Ring with me. Not that mod. Just the base game co-op. He's kind of in a weird funk mentally though, so he keeps saying, "Maybe tomorrow." *sigh* We had a blast back in 2017 co-oping through Scholar of the First Sin. It was actually the final rung of the ladder I used to get out of my 6 year depression. I hope he gets to feeling OK soon. I wanna make him laugh when we get killed by the harder bosses.
In the interim I had the sudden urge to replay Pokemon Yellow. I thought I was gonna stick it through and through with Pikachu like when I was a kid, but his statistical deficiencies eventually had me replace him with the Eevee from Celadon City(who has higher stats at the same level with no training AND can be evolved into one of the base Eeveelutions in this case Jolteon for a 1 to 1 straight up better rep). I never had the strongest connection to Pikachu, though I did LOVE the anime growing up. As a kid, Yellow gave me significant difficulty, because I'd been introduced to the Rare Candy glitch early on, so I only really had a process for the first 5 cities in the game, after which, it was time to dupe the hell outta Rare Candy and make my team level 100.
I still remember my first Yellow playthrough, as it was my only Yellow playthrough as a kid. I had an overly leveled Pikachu the whole game, who always had Quick Attack, thanks Anime. Then I had the three OG starters that the game gives you for training Pikachu well / beating Lt. Surge. Fully evolved, but I had never trained for real, so they were all in the low 40s by the time I got through Victory Road. I also had a Fearow that I caught to replace something, iirc on the way to Victory Road (or at least before the cave section?).
Through copious amounts of resets, and the potions you find all throughout the game that I had never used, sold, or thrown away, I managed to beat the Elite Four. Then immediately went back to Red and Blue until I got Silver.

Surprisingly well articulated despite the extreme beefiness of the sculpt. The head gets caught sometimes on the armor around the neck, and the wrists are a little too easy to pop off if I'm not careful, but otherwise it's rock solid.

The bulk makes it a little hard to Jojo, but he can do Hildebrand instead.
Only real complaint is the grip on the sword is a little finicky. And it's not the sword that should be used for the Powered Red form, but then again, that version is 150 meters long....which, in scale, would be around four feet.

This problem is huge in this game.

You may have seen this already, but I can't stop laughing at it.

Well...
Just finished the Kenobi show and...
What complete garbage lol.
I am sure the fanservice will get to a lot of people but a couple of fanservice scene doesn't make a whole show good.
Takes quite awhile to be able to post again, after not logging in for the 14-days. Logged in to finish the event last minute, as per the usual.
I used to like Star Wars quite a bit. I grew up with the prequels. The nostalgia bait is probably the only reason I'd watch that show. Even SW games were pretty good back then. It's a disappointing what has been done with the SW name. I have no faith in anything 'Star Wars' being good anymore.
I enjoyed Mandalorian a lot and Boba Fett when it became a platform for the Mandalorian. lol That show helped to alleviate the sting I felt after watching Rise of Skywalker. I didn't hate the Obi Wan series, but it certainly fell flat in more than a few ways. I've seen better, but I've seen worse. The main thing I liked about it was that they opened the door and left it wide open for Cal Kestis from Jedi: Fallen Order to make an appearance some day. I really hope that becomes a reality, and only if Cameron Monaghan is the actor. Fallen Order and the upcoming sequel are probably the most enjoyment I've had (and that I'm going to have) with anything Star Wars related in years.
Tbh I got kinda bored of Mandalorian very quickly, it was alright the first episodes but got repetitive.
I kinda feel like these shows get carried entirely by being Star Wars, if they weren't then I don't think anyone would care about them at all.
Mandalorian had potential but it really got bogged down by '' baby Yoda '' imo and a bunch of fanservice from cartoons that I really didn't care at all about.
I wish it had just focused on a Mandalorian bounty hunter just being out well, bounty hunting.
I used to be a massive Star Wars fan as a kid, came home from school every single day and watched the original trilogy, read a lot of the novels and played all of the old games etc got really into the lore and all that.
But I kinda feel like none of it is actually new anymore, it's just rehashing of the same stuff.
The Old Republic era was interesting because it was different, the movie era has just been done to death and yeah Vader is cool but it just feels like Vader for the sake of Vader solely for the sake of fanservice which is fine I guess but I personally get really exhausted by it.
Stuff like the Darth Bane novels come to mind too, that stuff was interesting and different to me.
Funnily enough when bringing in old stuff actually would be cool and matter imo they just don't and they retcon it.
Mara Jade is probably the most baffling case of this to me, especially with Disney so desperately wanting to have their big female protagonist they can brag about.
Mara Jade is awesome and I was actually expecting her in the new trilogy and was really disappointed when she wasn't there, they were handed her on a silver platter but just erased her from the canon...
There were scenes in the Obi Wan show that kinda got to me on a nostalgia level, but at the same time it only lasts for a moment and then I am just meh about it again.
The whole nostalgia thing just doesn't work for me and it feels cheap when it doesn't stand on its own legs without it.
This week has kicked my butt and it's only Wednesday.

Imma try and avoid spoilers.
All I'll say is that tbh I think Kotor 1 was fairly generic in hindsight, the main reason why it's remembered so much I think is because it's Star Wars and a solid RPG but also because of the plot twist.
Imo it was a game that worked really well back then, but trying to remake I think is kinda weird.
I think there are other Star Wars games that would work much better as a remake and don't rely so heavily on plot twists and with a more interesting story.
In the end of the day tho I wish people would stop living in the past and move on.
There's something rotten about devs taking the work of people who are long gone from the company and remaking it and then taking credit for it, half of the work is already done for them most of what remains is the technical aspect.
It kinda feels like art theft in a way and creatively bankrupt.
I just wish we didn't have to have remakes of everything and that we could just move on and get new stuff, but it's way cheaper and safer to do remakes it gets people automatically hyped up and like I said you basically only have to do half the work you're saving immense amounts of money on pre-production.
Edit: To be clear I am not saying remakes are inherently bad, I thought the RE2 remake for example was incredible ( not so much RE3, different team tho I think it was even outsourced ).
But I seriously doubt the motives for the Kotor 1 remake, I think it's a cash-grab and because Bioware have been on the decline in recent years so they're pulling it out their hat to try and win fans back.
Doesn't exactly instil a lot of confidence either considering the people working on it.

I think KOTOR is a pretty good RPG regardless of the twist. The sense of wonder and exploration is there. I played it after already knowing the twist, and played through it again earlier this year. Of course, it is an RPG of it's time, but frankly, I think it is still better than many "rpgs" that come out nowadays.
As for remakes, that's about all they (the industry) can come up with nowadays. Their original ideas typically flop, and they can get guaranteed hype and sales from old beloved titles and franchises. This is more prevalent in the movie industry, of course, but I think Resident Evil did set the precedent in the gaming industry. Granted, remasters have been around for awhile in games, and honestly, when it comes to KOTOR, I'd probably prefer just a remaster. It'd be better off if they don't touch it too much. If they had just touched it up, like the visuals, or made the gameplay a little less archaic, sure.
I even talked about KOTOR in this thread awhile back when I played through it last, but I can already see them completely altering and/or cutting out sections of that game. Things that would be 'problematic' nowadays. Who even knows how they will "modernize" it.
Asmongold was very funny today because of WoW preorders and the green dragon mount. :) :) :)

Yeah it's definitely a good RPG.
I just think that it's not on the level where it rly '' deserves '' a remake or whatever, not if you take away the Star Wars IP and the nostalgia for the twist which doesn't exactly age well it's kind of a one time thing.
When I think of whether something is good or not I tend to separate it from the existing IP hype.
So when I look at something having to do with Star Wars I kinda just ignore the Star Wars part and think of it as if it was a new IP.
I do think it's a good RPG without that too, but I also think that the fact that it's Star Wars sorta just per default gives it a huge head start.
Games like Dragon Age Origins and Mass Effect for example were new IP's so they had to stand entirely on their own legs which is a lot harder to do.
There's plenty of other good RPG's out there but they won't get a remake/ remaster because they're not Star Wars.
KOTOR definitely is on the level of deserving a remaster. I think KOTOR is an RPG classic. A remake is a bit much, that's more so to cash in on hype. The thing about Dragon Age, and Mass Effect, is that, yes, they might have not had the name recognition of Star Wars, but they did have the BIOWARE name behind them. Who were known for Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, KOTOR, Jade Empire, etc..

Talk about a game that needs a remaster! I remember being a little E-4 buying this gem at the Sasebo NEX!
Well, agree to disagree.
I honestly don't believe Kotor would've become a RPG classic without the Star Wars IP.
But yeah I'd rather a remaster than remake.
Generally I am not a fan of remakes especially, at least if you're not getting the original creators to lead it.
It feels kinda disrespectful imo.
People often talk about how games are art, but I feel like this kinda detracts from it.
It feels more like just a product alone and nothing more, if it's really art then is it right to take the artists work and fundamentally change it in the way of a remake?
I don't think so personally.
This reminds me that I bought it on Steam but never played it lol.
