Well, putting my thought into word: Congratulations!
Had a Vault run earlier for my alt on leveling roulette as summoner.
Everything was going smoothly and tank kept aggro until the last boss for some reason they dropped defiance prior to pulling or maybe they dropped it after starting the fight but they weren't in deliverance either.
I was creeping on aggro while lucid/diversion was on cooldown, so the other dps stole it after I used lucid dreaming & they died after orb phase. Swiftcasted raise them, healer was halfway low on MP so I manashifted them.
Healer took aggro from the boss as well while the entire party's hp was half depleted and glad the fight didn't drag any further. I'm sure we would had wiped since swiftcast had another 30s left on cooldown since it was starting to become a bit dangerous.
Gave the healer my commendation for going through that.
Sohm-Al with a first timer who did everything just fine (contrast to below), and a great scholar who helped with explaining things.
Aery with a (non-1st timer) Samurai who ignored others getting trapped in the sable price, causing a wipe since the healer died. Didn't use Higanbana at all.
Vault with an excellent White Mage, and two Samurai (no 1st timers at all). One skipped out on Higanbana, the other used it on everything, even things at 2%. Neither could do chains right on the last boss, just happily standing in the middle while the healer is mashing her face into the furthest corner, which is still not far enough (both SAMs died to this once, as the WHM still managed to barely keep herself alive through it.
Wanderer's Palace with a Bard who'd DoT at most one enemy at a time, would only sing during bosses (and not necessarily even then), wouldn't Quick Nock, always used Rain of Death over Bloodletter, and actively tried killing the adds in the lats fight despite me putting a "don't hit" marker on them.
My DF luck is quickly developing into a minor meme with my FC.
I'm so confused how do you get through the area without killing the bosses to activate the trigger?
Just did duty roulette and ended up in Sastasha and actually wiped. Tank was brand new. So busy trying to avoid enemies that he ended up pulling pretty much half the dungeon. Wasn't using any cooldowns, so naturally ended up dead before I could heal him. Tank didn't know how to control enmity, so naturally I ended up with it from healing him constantly and the archer tried to convince me it was from using aero? And before anyone asks, no I wasn't attacking first. Barely even got to.
I'm not even mad; I'm just confused.
When I did "Alliance Raid Roulette" as PLD (tank was "Adventurer in Need" at the time), I ended up at Rabanastre.
For the Hashmal battle, every other member in my party except me got knocked out once by either Hashmal's divebomb attack, purple aoes, or proximity aoes. I used Clemency and timed my defensive cooldowns when big unavoidable hits came out to stay alive. The healers and Red Mages in the other alliances were kind enough to res my other party members.
But the real shocker came during the Argath Thadalfus battle. All of the other party members in my alliance except me got knocked out by taking too much stacks from failing the Truth/Lie mechanic, get hit too often by avoidable aoes, or being too close to the proximity aoe (most of it happened from the Truth/Lie portion.)
We beat the alliance raid without wipes. But I became the sole survivor of my party only because I was geared to the teeth with full i390 with the Seiryu EX weapons, and the other alliances were competent enough to survive. I got 4 commendations after leaving the instance.
At the end of they day, don't let your guard down and don't underestimate bosses who are easier than the earlier ones (people getting knocked out to Argath Thadalfus's mechanics continuously come to mind.)
Oldie but a goldie. Ran Aery with my wife who mains healer, I main tank. This run, she wanted to level up her ninja, so no pocket healer for me. Whatever, most healers in the game have no real trouble unless I do massive pulls, and even then, this was well after the majority of players (myself, my wife and our random healer) had hit HW max. I had Full Shire (maybe augmented even, I forget honestly) gear for DRK, Healer had full Augmented Shire for AST. Most of the dungeon goes okay, if not a little close for comfort, as healer's pumping out gravity like it's going out of style. We get to the part where all the pillars fall down and make a path right before the room with all the like 2-hit dragons. We've cleared out way up the ramp to the last 3 trash mobs before that room and my CDs are down aside from Living Dead, and suddenly I notice I'm at 1/4th of my health. I know better than to stand in AoEs so I'm sitting here like "What's happening, why am I dying?" I take a good quick look around (battle chat) and notice the healer hasn't cast a single healing spell since before the ramp. Needless to say, I died. When I asked him what happened after respawning he says "It's not my job to keep you alive, use your CDs." He got booted REAL quick after he said that.
Ran MSQ Roulette the other night and got Castrum. Easy enough run, right? From the get go, the main tank starts pulling all of the mobs and proceeds to kite them around. For the entire dungeon. Which meant I couldn't Holy down mobs and struggled to catch him to heal. The other tank is new and didn't really try to take over. The MT kites most trash around the dungeon and after the second tower down, the main tank proceeds to say "I'm drunk. I don't know where I'm going. I need an adult!" Like... come on... If you're going to drink, that's fine. Don't don't play trashed to the point where you can't play well. Or at all.
Reminds me of the time I got a drunk tank on Xelphatol in a 50/60 roulette. The tank fell asleep after the 2nd boss, and for some reason, we didn't bother to kick him. Instead, we finished up the remaining mobs and the 3rd boss with me being the guy to hold aggro (as DRG). Well, at least we won.
I just had such a lazy healer in a leveling roulette.
I'm leveling Ninja (only NIN and MNK left to get all to 70) and get into Shisui of the Violet Tides.
There was this veeeery lazy lvl 64 Scholar. During trash pulls (the tank in normal quality leveling gear only ever did single pulls) he was like 80% of the time either standing with his back to the enemies, 10% running/jumping around, 10% healing. I asked him if he was half afk and he said it's enough to heal with oGCDs...
OF COURSE his Eos was on auto and used all her spells whenever they were up. AND he was a MENTOR with multiple level 70 jobs, including the other healers.
Curiously, during boss fights he casted some dps spells here and there when he wasn't currently busy just standing there. Like one Bio, Broil, Broil, and back to turning away from the boss for the next 20 seconds.
I know I'm bad and NIN and sometimes mess up the Ninjutsu or let the speed buff drop. But at least I'm trying my best and I'm pressing buttons all the time. This healer had so little to heal and was just standing there, knowing he doesn't need to do more.
I get that if a healer is new he might be more careful and that's ok. But this healer was just incredibly lazy. He wasn't even one of those healers that refuse to ever dps, because he attacked a little bit during bosses (and during ONE trash pull I saw a Miasma II - but he didn't even cast Shadow Flare during trash pulls even though it's ogcd and doesn't keep him from healing at all). He was just plain lazy and rather let others do all the work for him...
Just did a leveling run on Halatali for SMN. It definitely wasn't the worst, given nobody died. But the tank continuously ran off ahead without waiting for the healer. The BRD kept activating the winches and running off, leaving the enemies. At one point the healer got left behind because they forgot about the aether, and the BRD almost died. But other than that, it was about the quickest I've ever finished Halatali and I'm now halfway to lvl 56.
Im healing this dungeon as I speak. Dzemael Darkhold.
Level 53 archer. ARCHER. When I asked them why they weren't a bard, "I like the bow".
Not even second boss and they've died 3 times. Not standing in purple twice going to eye boss, and on eye boss. They kept running from me and LoSing me. I deemed they weren't worth the effort and stopped healing them. Had to rescue them on cooldown into the purple, they kept leaving it. Third time they pulled mobs while the tank was catching up. A firm believer of "you pull it, you tank it" I just... let it happen.
Amdapor Keep is very glitchy, sometimes mobs of enemies are missing between certain bosses. You might only have one section without any mobs, although you could have two sections after the first boss but it's always a little strange when nothing is around to kill.
Had an auto follow sch today in Copperbell mines with only eos healing. Wasn't there the whole dungeon and when my sprout co dps died to the bomb for the slime boss they never received a rez. Last boss I explained to the dps to ignore adds and burn the boss. They of course disregarded everything I said and went after the adds. Sch mia and just a drooling husk following tank so no help there. Had to almost do mechs for the first time in like 4 or 5 years. But luckily my lb killed the boss just as adds started flooding in from the busted wall.
No comms.
Level 70 dungeon, met a Rogue. Not a ninja. A level 70 rogue.
I asked him why he doesn't go ninja, his response was that "only gay people and anime trash play ninja."
I've never seen a person get kicked so fast from a dungeon. The entire party refused to take even a single step until 5 minutes ran out so we could kick him.
I just had an AST who healed the entire back half of Orbonne by themselves. The run started with a DPS disconnecting right away. And then after Agrias, the other healer disconnected. Was a little worried something might be happening. We never filled either slot. And it crazy, during the add phase of Cid, being down two members we still beat ours about the same time as everyone else. And I heard an LB go off. I think maybe having one healer and down a DPS everyone focused more or something. Either way, I was DRG and backflipped into a tether during Ultima and everyone around me scattered. Then she dropped a target on me. I died, got revived. She dropped another target on me. I took one step and started clashing died immediately again.
Did mentor roulette and got Guardian/o7n. Cool! Throwback!
We get to the yellow circles where one person needs to stand in each. I'm on mine before it even spawns, casting. I'm an AST. A BRD runs through another circle to mine and stands in it with me.
With her mentor crown on.
I know it isn't a big deal but like... c'mon? This is why mentors have a bad rep. You clearly understand the mechanic and you're just being an idiot.
If she expected me to move like... girl I'm casting, that won't be happening. Had that been an actual caster I likely would have adjusted because better my dps than a Foul but this was a BRD the most mobile job in the game.
If you're playing BRD/MCH guess what - it's your job to move. Period.
Enter Alpascape 3 normal. No cut scenes or flowers. No dps that can rez, but no big deal. We got this \o/ Mustard Bomb, tank pops Rampart, applied Divine Benison. Tanks health instantly went from full to dead. …maybe server tick/lag? It happens. It’s whatever :3 Gave that rez. OT swaps stances and picks boss up.
Wave cannons, co-healer and DRG dies. Other members are pretty low health since getting hit with one wave. Heal them up, rez co-healer, typed out quick “L=Larboard=Left sweep” instruction in chat, and eventually rez DRG. OT (who is MT) stood in aoe and eventually got pushed off the stage. Original MT got out of rez sickness and provoked. Tank buster in coming, sentinel AND rampart. Instant full to death again. Was able to rez OT before this so they picked up the boss. Wave cannons, 2dps and co healer die.
This cycle of death continued…I felt like screaming. Off healer could not stay alive long enough to help heal/rez. Overlapping aoe's. I was nosy and looked at gear of MT and I saw a ilvl280 shield.....was too mad and busy to check the rest.
Took about 14minutes to get to the add phase... nearly wiped on Force Quit if not for LB. Here comes the cycle of carnage!!! Rez BRD and politely asked for Refresh (since I know it has not been played yet.) Eventually BRD dies to wave cannon. When I asked why they did not play Refresh their response was “Not on hotbar.” Painfully agonizing. Every tank buster was a guaranteed instant death. Every wave cannon and at least 3 would die.
38minutes from start and 19solo resurrections we wiped at 7%. I have never left a party so fast or feeling so frustrated. To be honest, I started to feel bad that I let it get me so worked up ^^”
I was called satan today because I told someone to stop making everyone wait at the exit in PoTD while they ran around every single room on every single floor. rest of the party agreed and said if they wanted to explore then solo.
I can see the resemblance but that was just rude.

I looooove not being able to use the Black List function during PvP matches. He wasn't even calling out anything, just spamming <se.6>. Couldn't get calls during PvP because he would spam when people were calling things out.
Gubal Library. Wipe on first boss.
I'm healing. Drk, monk, and rdm. None were trying to dodge the fire, except rdm. The monk didn't even make an *attempt* to. I spent a good 80% of the fight esuna spamming. Our monk got hit by heavy so much that I swear I saw he was immune to it at one point. We wiped at 69%, because none of the three ran to the other side of the boss. They knew to run behind it, they did it once before. And the successful kill took 5 minutes. Our monk was also swapping between all 3 fist stances periodically throughout the fight. He started the fight in fists of earth!

I *very* quickly dropped the run after the boss kill. I did NOT want to imagine the last boss, with the group probably dropping orbs all over the place, and not moving out of them. Normally I have patience, but if the group wasn't even going to try dodging the fire, then the last boss wasn't going to happen. Those orbs are death.
'Took some pretty potent painkillers this morning for some severe eye pain. It seems to be unrelated to computer use, because I get it from sleeping and doing other things as well.
Immediately, it would be illegal for me to drive or anything. You know, DUI's and all.
So what do I do? I queue for a trials roulette.
Low and behold, the dice roll decided on The Navel (Hard). Some time into the fight, I realized from looking at the party member list that both the healers were dead. I don't know if was the landslide move or the bomb boulders, but I don't think anybody else was able to rez people.
First, the other DPSs die.
Then one of the tanks. MT or OT, I don't know. I'm still stoned as of writing this.
Then the other tank gets trapped in a boulder. The fetters boulder.
Then I die trying to get him out.
In what kind of screwy, messed-up world is the last party member standing before a wipe the stoned dragoon?
Leveling my RDM, decide to do Leveling roulette as my final roulette.
My queue is surprisingly fast, I end up in Sohm Al. I love Sohm Al.
I start the dungeon with a "Hello there~!" and get no reply.
It's me, a DRK, a WHM and a green leaf DRG.
I assume the DRK and the WHM are together cause the WHM prots, then the DRK runs to the WHM and they just look at each other for a good few mins before we actually start.
The run is smooth, or at least I felt it was. The WHM didn't heal me during the first pull, I had a poison stack that just ticked me down slowly, I thought nothing of it cause the I'm RDM, I just did it myself.
with the exception of the DRG dying on the second boss cause no one helped me with the Green add, and all my CDs were on CD so I didn't have as much burst as I'd have liked, I got it close but not all the way down. I helped them heal up after the thing burst but the DRG died because they had the fire stack. No one stacked because it was clear we'd die if we did.
We finally get to the last boss, which is always fun, I'm not worried though.
The healer and the DRG leave the comets near the tank, then proceed to not run away from the aoe, and the tank is right in the middle. All three of them take a lot of dmg.
So I do my best to try and catch up with the healing, but the healer stands in the middle of Chaos blast and seemingly makes 0 effort to dodge, they die.
The healer says the first thing they've said in the run here "omfg" cept not abbreviated. I thought nothing of it. Maybe they're frustrated with themselves?
So I start healing, but we're not even at 50% so I try to switch between healing at dps.
The DRG leaves the comet next to the tank again, they don't dodge, and the tank dies cause I ran out of range of the comets and couldn't heal them. They die, the DRG dies, and then I die.
The tank takes the time to explain the fight for the DRG, and we go in again.
We get a little further this time, I decide to help with the healing a little sooner, but the healer is... Terrible at placing the comets? The DRG puts theirs down on the edge, and the healer puts theirs in the middle and sandwiches themselves in the edge between them? They get close to dying, and I heal them up again.
I'm healing everyone up, because this healer just seems to be having trouble.
They end up dying to another Chaos Blast, but this time we're past the wing phase, so it's a breeze to heal for the most part, a little close when the tank drops the comet and then nearly cleaves me with the boss.
At the end we do it and I type my usual "Happy journeys"
and the healer is the only one to reply "stfu"
...Ok...
Not like I just carried us through cause you couldn't do your job...
And here we have a Black Mage with the AoE rotation of Thunder II, Blizzard III, (possibly Transpose based on the casting speed of the next one) Fire III, Fire III, Fire III, Fire III... and single target rotation of Blizzard III, Fire, Fire, Fire, Fire, Flare. Sometimes. It varied oh so wildly. I'm not even sure how one ends up with that. At level 68 (duty was Brayflox hard though). Confused.
I went through Castrum abania as a scholar with a warrior (260 axe, some level 60 accessories, only used his cooldowns outside of battle) and a red mage and samurai.
The second boss caused probably 4 wipes. It would start and end the same. Samurai gets agro from the tank, I have to heal two targets, I get agro from the tank, lucid dreaming doesn't help as I'm getting the agro right back, I didn't read what element I needed to be in in time, I die, we wipe, we repeat.
At that point I was thinking of leaving or I could find the best way to ask the samurai to use diversion. I asked them if they would use it. They said they were thinking about it. They end up using it once through the fight. It was enough for the tank to hold agro so I didn't have to heal multiple targets and everyone was able to read what elements they needed to be in in time. Just one button was all that was needed.
Aether wasn't safe either. I had to level my alt up and ended up in steps of faith via roulette. Warrior tank kept holding the adds dear the dragons butt so they never got hit by the cannons. We wiped at the dragon being at half health. Second time I ask people with add agro to bring them to the front of the dragon. I tell this to the tank two more times through the fight. Enough adds get killed this time so people can focus the dragon, one of the dragon killers worked, and we just barely squeaked in a win. I caught someone out of the corner of my eye in g-pose right in the middle of combat when the music starts picking up.
I am really not looking forward to the Shinryu fight.
iam tank and i just had the most either newbie or total bot party just now, the dungeon is not even that hard (stone vigil normal)
- no one talk/chat from start until finish
- ALL OF THEM NEVER TRY TO DODGE RED AOE, yes you saw it correct, they just stand and take it, from normal mobs until boss, ALL 3 OF THEM. they take damage and just keep doing their stuff, next red aoe come, they just keep doing their stuff. the only time they dodge aoe is the blue aoe attack from the last boss.
- healer (whm) just spam cure I, iam not joking from start until finish i never see him cast medica or stone or regen or cure II, nothing. only cure I AND only to me (tank), the moment i take damage he just spam cure I, everyone take damage, he dont care, only at boss he care though. but 80% of the time he just cure I to me until he out of mp or i die or he die.
- ALL 3 OF THEM ignore mechanic, 1st boss facing toward them, take the big damage, boss run to other side? take the big damage. boss 2? no one firing canon. boss 3? red aoe on one of them? stand and chill.
so basically, they never dodge aoe, healer only heal me (and only cure I) if someone else die, he keep cure I on me, dps doing their stuff but ignoring all mechanic, didnt even know limit break despite i spam limit break using auto translate feature.
what is this? a bot with wrong programming? toddler playing FF14? what? i can understand the mechanic part but, red aoe hurt you and still didnt move? not just one guy but ALL of them? wtf did i just party with?
Usually when this happens it's the tank and healer checking out each other's gear to see what they can handle. You don't want an extremely low IL tank dying to a couple of hits before the healer can heal and vice versa for the low IL healer barely keeping the tank alive. Could also be that they do know each other but in most df dungeons that's generally what happens.
But regardless that does sound like a mess. I can understand the DRG struggling as they're most likely new to the dungeon but that healer just sounds rude.
Ran expert as ninja for once (why ninja? no clue!), and got an excellent party. For once, felt like I was the weakest link, and that's just from occasionally overcapping Ninki and letting Shadow Fang fall off for a few seconds here and there (I really feel like I should not play ninja...).
Everyone was nice in chat too, what a great run.
Guess my axe really is cursed.
