I think Nammy isn't dead because of 1 reason alone. Ilbert didn't want Raubahn to see her because it was quote on quote "Painful to see". Why didn't you just let him see his Sultana he loves so much eh? You wanted to keep him there so you could rile him up into a rage and do something he probably will regret. I think what Nammy drank was a fake death poison. If she was "really dead" Ilbert wouldn't mind letting him pass to see her, or in fact you could have at least bring her to him. I have a strong feeling they are hiding her somewhere because she isn't truly dead.

The point is they couldn't do much right then. If we were about to get executed on the spot sure. However we were quite lawfully being detained for a crime we were accused of. Further, they couldn't help Raubahn because he was commiting a crime. Lolorito was right technically. Adding Raubahn would have been assisting a man guilty of murder of a political figure.

If we had been hauled off to a cell then its likely we would have seen more of their aid. Currently their aid is mainly completely ignoring the accusations against us. As crappy as it is the GC leaders need to maintain a pretence. If the Eorzean alliance crumbled completely, Garlemald would see an easy target. They may hate it but they still need a functioning Ul'dah to hold up its end of the Alliance. Their best option is to bide their time and hope the truth will come out and the situation will turn on the Monetarists.

Its worth noting that politics is working against the Monetarists as much as it is working for them. The Immortal Flames influence has been reduced but the Monetarists can't just remove them. Further, they can't move freely against us without having to tiptoe around treaties and issues of jurisdiction. These are political weapons our allies have actually used in our favour and its the reason we still have so much freedom of movement in Eorzea.

The core issue for us is that sitting still makes us a potential target and setting up shop in Gridania or Limsa would open have major political ramifications for either city. Remember they still need the Eorzean Alliance, even as a pretence. The crystal braves, who have far more freedom of movement, compound the issue further.

I think the Monetarists end game is Omega. I think they just want us out of the way and unable to interfere which we almost certainly would have if they had gone for it while we still had free reign. They would likely have been happy enough to leave us and the scions locked away in cells. I suspect they think that Omega will give them the power to hold of Garlemald and strong arm the other states to do as they want. Do remember we are talking about a weapon designed to take down Bahamut.

Problem is we're assuming that the goal of Omega Weapon is to fend of Garlemand. If that were the case then that would make framing the WoL/Scions even dumber, since they're the reason Garlemand was fended off last time. They have a common enemy. If anything all this backdoor sneaking around only hurts their case.

Anyways, yes politics are working somewhat against the Monetarists, but what I'm saying is that if they stopped to consider their plan they'd realize that it really just causes a fustercluck of issues. Even if you never promote, you're still a well reknowned member of one of the three Grand Companies who has close ties with its leader. Now, let's say that the WoL is with the Flames, then this incident combined with the whole Ivy deal would make the perfect setup to have the Flames either disbanded or put under the Monetarists jurisdiction. However if the WoL is with Maelstrom or the Adders...then now you have a foreign agent assassinating (or attempting to) your ruler. Best case scenario, Merlwyb or Kan-E Senna declare you a rogue agent and aid in your arrest. Worst case, citizens cry for blood or mustache-twirling Teledji tries to strongarm the Leader into aiding and they call his bluff, since Ul'Dah is already heavily destabilized both politically and militarily, not to mention the possibility of having to go against two nations. Middle ground they declare you rogue and only give a token show of support (ie. Guys that will loudly shout, "There s/he is! Go down these roads to catch them!" more to signal you than them). But still that's a pretty big risk if you ask me. Of course, that's all assuming that their aim is Omega to fight off Garlemand and not, say, disassembling the Alliance to aid Garlemand.

The thing is, the Scions will not condone the use of Omega weapon. Period. They're all about discovering AND then keeping it secret/sealed up (Chrystal Tower originally had Cid want to seal it up)

And the syndicate knows this. I can see the syndicate (Lolorito) use Omega as a way to force the other city states into his rule and as a weapon against any future Garlemald invasion.

It'll be nice if this was a completely non-garlean plan and is a plan of an Eorzean bad guy.

Though, it won't surprise me he does end up selling it to the Garleans

I'm with you on that one, Garleans this, Garleans that, it shouldn't always be the Empire's fault - whenever it isn't the Ascians', anyway. I'd actually like to see more of the positive sides of the Empire soon.

Hard to see any "positives" to an empire that wanted several city states to bow down to their will and merge with them.

Since the last cutscene with Lolorito I've had a personal theory that, while he ultimately took advatage of Teledji's plans, he A.) Didn't know the exact scope, and B.) Wasn't expecting him to be a GIGANTIC IDIOT and piss of Raubhan, especially not right then. Also that he may not be an evil jerk depending on what they do further in the story (still a jerk of course).

I get that sense too. Lolorito seems to be more for subtly taking things over rather than Teledji's outright coup. Yes, things seemed to be working towards Lolorito's plans, but NOT the way he wanted it. Had he somehow heard of Nanamo's intention to abdicate, then knowing him he would have probably tried to put his own people in enough powerful or swaying positions to be able to put himself as the first non-royal leader of Ul'dah. That in turn would allow him to mold the nation into what he wanted it to be, so... yeah.

The Garleans, particularly those intent on invasion, are portrayed as Tyrants. Sure, they can be quite benevolent but they are tyrants never the less with a very strong dose of hubris.

I do suspect however we will eventually see factions within the Garlean Empire that we can be more sympathetic to. Its just currently, outside Cid, we only see the aggressive aspect of the empire. We have seen however there are factions within Garlemald. We could see something similar to how Novv is among the Sahagan.

We become powerless because we have the law turned against us and are discredited. If we were not our standing and influence would have had a lot of pull. Nanamo's plan would have weakened the Monetarists. They pre emptively swung the the scales against us by discrediting us and removing the threat Nanamo represented to their power. They almost certainly knew her plan.
