Subscription deadline is coming up and the question is: will you subscribe?

I have already setup a recurring 6-month sub. I have been an FF fan since I was a kid and played III (VI), VII, etc, etc. But I have not been crazy about their releases post XII. And when this game failed miserably with 1.0, this relaunch was my last shot for them.

If this relaunch had been another disappointment, I would have written FF off as a dead series. But very happily, I'm glad to say I have not been disappointed with this relaunch, and plan to support them as much as I can.

And yet almost every new MMO that released the past few years ended in an utter tragedy and they followed the "preferred path" to the letter.

90day sub here. Im enjoying the game so far, despite the shortcomings.

I would like to get a resub but alas Error 601 is preventing me to do so ._.

I like how OP left out the Coil.

And I already did the 6 month subscription.

Having a job and being a student at the same time isn't giving me the time I need to play this game, and when I am home, there's one other game + anime/manga that I end up doing. I'm working towards getting myself off that game, as I feel like I've accomplished almost everything I've needed to, and then I will be able to devote the much needed time to this game. Until then I probably won't be subscribing. This is such a beautiful game, and I used to be so into it, but not having time really destroys that experience. Anyways, I hope when I'm able to make it back SE has a lot of my current concerns fixed and has enough content out that will keep me occupied when I hit endgame.

Barely have time to play the game. It seemed a bit weird and clunky when I first started, but reading the forums and putting more energy in analyzing/inspecting the game mechanics have left me somewhat disappointed. The biggest factor is the GCD, animation CDs, the 300ms polling rate, and instants not being instants. All these factors just make the game slow, clunky, and boring.

FF14 GCD is at 2.5s! Are you serious? People are defending this with the excuse that it gives them more time to make decisions. No it does not, decisions are made in a split of a second, unless you are a slow player. This makes encounters longer than it should be.

Animation CD. Really? On top of the cast-time, events, actions, interactions, etc. I have to wait until my toon finishes the animation to complete the action. A very obvious example, XP/Loot you get from monsters are rewarded after death animation, instead of upon health reaching zero. This is also seen in interacting with objects in the game.

300ms polling rate. What is this? I was so dumbfounded when at first I kept getting hit despite having quickly dodged red spots. Then I found out about this absurd in-game feature. I couldn't believe that they said this was intended. Is this the 90s? Coupled with normal latency in a country outside server location, this game is a nightmare to play.

Instants not being instants. With the ridiculous 2.5 GCD, instants are no where near being an instant. Casting a 2.5s spell, would be exactly the same thing as casting an instant spell.

I have not even reached end game, and my god all the things I hear about the end game. Just wow! Not to mention the terrible community (I know there are some greats out there). I guess that's what happen when an enormous force has set a very high standard for mmo. FF14 has also received all the rubbish players/expectation that WoW created.

I was really hoping to get into that game. But this game seems like it was designed for slow players. No thanks, I will not be paying further, until all the issues above is fixed/changed.

I still enjoy the game.

So, I continue to subscribe. That's all.

When it comes to endgame I don't care how hard or easy it is, but is it fun. So far endgame in FFXIV:ARR seems to be just grind out dungeons til your eyes bleed and you become so bored with it, so next patch there going to release more dungeons thus making your gear you worked for obsolete and then you grind the new dungeons til you get bored. I find myself thinking about other games while playing this such as Archeage and The Repopulation (Pretty much the SWG of 2014) where there's not going to be boring repetitive dungeons you have to grind out. So I don't know maybe, maybe not, I'm still on the fence.

Ya this is something that needs to be fixed before 2.1 even hits because frankly there are people that just don't care about crafting and gathering and ignoring these people is just bad and it will cause them to quit means less money coming in for you at the end of each month.

You don't have to do an obviously stupid thing to tell that its stupid, quite often. In this case...honestly. We know what coil is. Raid treadmill its obvious.

Only subscribing for a month till November 15th. Game is just too damned easy, should take months to get full DL or any raid type gear instead of getting full DL in what 48 hours if you do dungeons all day with FC? Even lolWoW takes longer to get gear and that game became super casual.

Already bought the crysta for a 3-month sub.

3 month sub here, will continue to sub if updates keep coming (which as far as I know they have a lot of plans, so yes I will stay). I'm done with free to play games.

I have yet to level up everything else, I got my 50 bard, yet still getting it gear and planning on making a white mage as well. So it's a long way to consider my self out of content.

There is obviously great logic here... However, what if you don't care about gear and you play for the thrill of the fight? If you think the fight is boring... Then you don't actually like the game... I could compare this same logic to eating vegetables - you don't actually like broccoli if there is more ranch dressing than broccoli on your plate.

I will subscribe again at some point, but for now I'm taking a break for the time being. The game can still be a lot of fun, but there are a lot of new games and systems coming out that I would rather spend my time/money on.

Gave it 1 month, but I don`t see a bright future for this game.
SE just seams too obtuse / stuck in some asian-encased mentality, or just too slow to comprehend the real world outside their backyard (US + EU).

We will see.

135 hours of playtime here and only level 49.
I've been enjoying the game to the fullest with my friend and we're taking our time.

Yeah I'm subbing. I have yet to hit 50 even tho I've been playing since open beta. I've been taking my time and enjoying the game. So far it's been pretty good. Yes it has some issues-it's definitely not perfect, but it's fun enough for me. To me, at least, I'm enjoying it more than SW:ToR. And I haven't had this much fun in WoW in a long time (played that game for 8 years and quit around 11 months or so ago).

Gil spammers need to go-same with botters. I've noticed issues with dodging mechanics with enemies attacks and I'm not at endgame yet. Other than those two things, I'm pretty happy. The community CAN suck at times, but I've seen them in Wow just as bad so meh.

I think I'll be taking a break from the game but coming back for the next content patch. Right now I have three strikes against it

1. Spotty server/network performance. Sometimes its good, sometimes its frustratingly bad
2. RMT, hackers, and botters running rampant. Reported one bot for blatant teleport h4x and it's still out there over one week later
3. Not much end-game content. Can't really enjoy crafting due to issue #2, not really keen on working on an alt class because any DPS have to wait forever to do dungeons and issue #1 makes it hard to play a tank (my main is healer)

I already subbed for 6 months. Why? Because to me, the game is fun to play. I enjoy the world, the music, running around and seeing the sights, talking to NPCs for the flavor text they offer, exploring. I've seen hundreds of people bitching about the battle system, but I think it's fun to mess with. These are the things that are fun to me, not rushing as fast as I can to endgame and grinding away like a madman for hours a day to little end (which, by the way, is not much different FROM EVERY OTHER MMO IN FRIGGEN EXISTENCE GENIUS). I have a brand new world to explore full of brand new things to do, things to kill, people to talk to, NPCs to mess with and so on. I figure six months will be enough to see all there is to see in my own time at my own pace. If more content gets added, sure, I'll sub for some more time. If I'm bored with what there is at the end of that time, I'll move on to something else. To me, endgame isn't everything there is to a game, and it makes me a little sad that there are people out there that care about nothing but. It's just something to work on when I feel like it whilst having fun exploring and making new friends. I do have a level 50 class, this is true, but only because I wanted to finish the story. I have darklight gear too, a few pieces, because I leveled 45-50 in dungeons because they're a lot more fun than fates, even if they are slower. I'm not in a huge hurry to get more either, because I have other things to do, and other places to explore.

I will be subbing. I haven't had a whole lot of time to play the game so I've been taking it slow, but I'm enjoying it so far.

Not that all or even most of us are 'gogogo' spammers, as you imply anyone that basically isn't happy with the endgame to be. So, tell SE not to make the same game that's been made too many annoyingly boring times before instead of acting like ARR would be better off without all of we dissatisfied sorts.

Reference 1.0 for why. And hope SE is smarter than you, as I doubt they'll rebuild it again if ARR leaves another faceprint on the floor of the internet. They didn't listen to any criticism before. Some of us with criticism in 1.0's closed beta got straight up told we were stupid and didn't understand the vision when we were predicting the future that came like clockwork.

Its people like you that are worthless for an mmo. Do you think SE will take note of your devotion and reward you? Do you think it makes you part of a 'mature' crowd that thinks they're a notch above 'the people that do nothing but complain'?

i will subscribe ... im not even at the end game cause im taking my time to play .. i dont like rushing there is alot of todo in ARR if u got all crafter and gatherer class and all those DoM - DoW classes there is alot of todo, for me ; compared to other MMO's ARR have a tons of thing todo cause you dont have to start new char for another class and at the some point you have to level up another classes ..if i reach lvl50 at all classes (DoW-DoM, DoL-DoH) maybe then i got bored :D

Problems:-teleport boots that claim the mobs-teleport boots for mining-gill spamers.
-once u hit lv 50 with one job the game become empty for things to do with the next job u want to get to 50.Fates give 1 lv per hour making dungeons runs for xp usles.Need gear from time to time?use tokens from fates to buy from grand companies.No more quests for varaity to lv.
-Runing AK and CM all day waiting in que 40 min will get u bored in maximum 7 days.
And the big problem i have that i realy dont think they will fix it till my free times expire its the aoe delay letacy problem that will kill the game for many in HM primals and dungeons refering to this post http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...fix-something.

I live in aus as well and no complaints from me, btw your on a NA server so the lag issue is expected, try Tonberry a JAP server with english speakers on it and youll notice the difference

I've subbed and no regrets for me, and for all those whinging about Endgame and not planning to sub...can I have your stuff? No serz if your going to be like that then you can do a lil good and donate it to the ones who are going to be here still in a month. For those who complain about lag/latency issues....should've gone to a server closer you you....and for those complaining about long queues...have you considered running it with your FC? It so much more fun that way. And again to those who aren't staying...feel free to donate your items!

There is no endgame more is coming. I subbed for maximum amount. Also, I have so many classes and jobs to work on. If you got just one to the end then you not really played the game gully.

I love the people that think fc or guild automatically opens doors. Mad fact for the clueless: most fc's and guild in these games aren't doing endgame content. They're often social/casual gaggles that, many cases, are not driven our especially interested in being gung ho serious about endgame. You want in a serious endgame guild?

Chances are pretty good they don't want you. Maybe they're willing to let you apply and join their linkshell out of charitable pity; maybe you'll find someone that cares you exist their third string backup friends. Make good on it, run when you can, shut your mouth and don't suck and, eventually, you'll probably get to raid with the fc/guild all these 'lol get a guild' quipfonts handwaved you off with.


Friends don't let friends raid with nubs, after all. No self respecting raider worth raiding with wants to raid with you if they're not already raiding with you, because you probably duck and, even if you don't, they don't know you, trust you or want to try hard to do either.

Get a guild, they told you? Can't join mine. Get some friend lol. Make your own endgame guild, or get in the scrub queue.

Getting to the point where I think I'd rather play WoW again, coil isn't exactly anything interesting and it's not like they're adding anything past that anytime soon.

The slow and lack of depth combat system really put me off.
There are a lot of MMO in the market that emphasize on skill execution, combo, and real time dodging (not memorized) but FF14 combat system is so outdated.
Also, the skill and itemization is linear. Everyone in same class is doing the same thing. I think SE put too much effort in graphic and story, they forget about good combat system.
Due to the lack of itemization, the crafting progress seem redundant.

I won't subscribe after its expired and wait for better update on combat.

And I already have enough Crysta for an additional 180 days after this runs out:

I agree btw, stats aren't interesting... imagine spending another 2 years playing and all you do is get +2 more str, +3 more determination, +2 more crit with each 10 ilvl upgrade they release. Doesn't it make you just wanna run up that gear treadmill forever?

I notice that an awful lot of 1.0 vets are subbing forever, and a lot of identifiable new/sort've returning folks are on the fence or going 'This gets all if my nope'.

I wonder if the vague seeming of that is actually how it will be. Makes sense that the heavily invested would be loath to walk now, and prone to seeing it all through desperately rose-tinted lenses at least; they have all their 1.0 everything to lose.

But what's really here for new players? Why should anyone pay this and not other, far more feature rich games if raid treadmill gaming doesn't bother them?

I cannot think of a single reason anyone not previously very invested should want to play this unless they just like chocobos more than lightsabers and orcs and so on. Its not a Betty good Final Fantasy game (yet. Maybe not ever. Issue pending) and its too son to know what kind of content SE will favor with the crucial fist handful of releases.

2.1 Better be amazing, I will say. They'll only get to make one first impression, asks they've blown that for too many. Not catastrophically, I duo not think, but this launch has not been pretty, and the first month rush has revealed some five alarm issues they could not possibly fix fast enough, though might never fix at all for all we know.

They don't get my faith in anything. They haven't wanted that back yet, just like Bioware will never have my faith again until they earn it to my satisfaction. I don't trust SE to listen this time, or care to do anything much different than before.

ARR has potential, but not more. It could yet be be amazing, even if they have made it a gearslobbef grindfest fire 'endgame' and thus lockstepped it into that pursuit of mediocrity. Secret World did the same thing, and its still an amazing game pre-treadmills. This one could be too.

But it isn't yet, and I'm baffled upon why anyone should sub that isn't a 1.0 vet that's too invested to walk cleanly away.

Not sure, really only interested in PvP which is supposed to come out in 2.1.

Only problem is that there really haven't been a whole lot of details on PvP and to add to that as far as I know there isn't a set release date for patch 2.1. So I'm thinking of holding off on the subscription until it comes out, because right now I'm literally doing nothing in the game.
