Namingway Card items?

Thinking of trying to contact the team for an official answer, but I'll probably get the boilerplate answer they gave out before. It's silly 'cause said answer told us to post in the forums, but we're just being ignored anyway. ; w ;

I so desperately want a new name. This can't happen soon enough. As far as everyone's concerns about jerks and running off with the guild's gil, why not implement a "name change log" or something of the sort that allows other users to view your name change history. I've used other sites that have that sort of thing.

So the one time that got personal with me in my 10 years playing 11 was like this.

Offender robbed his ls and came to my server where he was picked up by my ls and the truth came out many moons later, as time went by the servers merged and we got merged with his old server where I booted his ass and outed his new name in Jeuno at which point according to ah site his character was never used again after being treated like a monster for weeks.

Drop the butthurt and let these people enjoy playing a game, my money alone can't keep this game running so let's keep everyone happy.

Please add this! I know more than a handful of people that would use a service like this!

I completely support a name change feature, and I think a Namingway item or NPC would be a perfect way to do it. I've wanted to change my character to a male for a while now, but my character's name is very feminine so it would be weird.

As for accountability, as long as a player's profile could display previous names they've had I think it would be fine. That way people aren't using it to escape a bad reputation or something unethical they've done.

Well, I tried this and asked them for another answer aside from telling me to post in the forums, considering that hasn't got us anywhere.

Oh please SE let this happen. I randomized the name when I first created my character out of laziness and I ended up loving the game and I'm regretting not picking a more universal name. So much. I'd pay money not to have some subpar lalafell name, but I'd really not prefer to go through all of that convoluted server change nonsense or creating a new character. Have faith in the community and it's ability to not abuse name changes. I'll gladly take any restrictions, just let me pay you to change my name!

Me too! You'd probably sell a lot more potions if you implemented a name changing feature :D Myself and a lot of my friends would love for this to happen.

Completely support. Now if I could just understand why in the world they only allow us to buy a certain number of Phantasia potions ever... like your done. No more ever ever ever. It's exactly the kind of thing that belongs in a cash shop and I would have no issue tossing a few bucks at it from time to time. Why in the world would they limit something stupid like that?

I would love to see this implemented. I wonder what is taking long; this seems to be a basic feature in MMORPG's. I would like to have a name change because:

• I presently have a female character and would like to change it to a male and the name doesn't make sense.
• I would like to change races and the name wouldn't make sense from a lore perspective.
• My name is too long for people to quickly type in chat.

I wonder what the delay for a basic feature like this is? Internationalization? Are they strapped for developers and need to keep pumping out content instead of rolling out a feature like this?

It's funny that the handful of people who mentioned their names preventing them from changing appearance all have names that are in no way representative of either gender.

Well, their own interpretation of it may be different from yours, though. I mean, they may feel a name is masculine if it's a name they've always used with their characters. When I was a kid, I went by the name 'sotaka' - all my friends thought it a girl's name, but I felt it was the manliest thing ever. :P

Please allow name changes. Even if it's a one-time only deal.

I fully support name changes, please implement this soon! Lots of people would be willing to pay money for this service. You guys get more money & we get our much wanted new names. Win win for all :D

Yes, I agree with the thread. I don't know anything about making video games, but I would assume this is not that difficult to implement to add a vendor or rather use a current vendor to be able to switch gender specific gear. I still have items from 1.0 that I cannot use -_-...

I've been thinking about it, and I realised that because FFXIV has no cash shop, that implementing name changes now would be a bit tough. I imagine that part of why they're not saying anything is because of that. So, maybe when they finally set up a system for everything else, we'll get our name changes. I do hope people who go to Fan Fest can get some info though! :<

Well, they already have fantasia potions that you can buy via mog station, so I don't think that would be such a big issue as to how they would set it up for people to buy.

Really hope there's some more info on this soon...it is nothing new or strange to MMOs, and I'd never have thought it'd be far behind the fantasia potions either. : /

I would love this to be added and would happily pay the fee for this as my name is a total disaster as I am pretty damn uncreative when it comes to names lol, was just in a rush to play! Would be nice :D

Why not ask for 1 free name change, instead of a card.

I mean so you messed up on your name, you change it basically its only gonna be one time unless you do something bad and wanna run away and try to change it again.

cause I don't see why you would change it a second time.

if you change name you still know who that person is just by lodestones character profile.

I think the nameway cards would be an excellent idea.

Not having the ability to change your name just makes the fantasia potions not very desirable for RPers. I have oft thought of changing my main character's race, but the lack of ability to change his name is often what stays my hand. In this game where every race has very particular naming conventions, it makes it hard to justify an Elezen with a Lala name or a Roe with a decidedly Miquo'te name.

I really hope SE considers adding this service. The system mechanics for it already exist as we have established using the server hop to name change. So all SE has to do is generate a simple object that will trigger this effect artificially or simply trigger it from the moggle store upon purchase of a name change token. (( Log into the store, buy token, select character to apply it too, and upon next log in you would be prompted to change the name just as if you had jumped the toon, simple.))

Yeah, but no real "cash shop" - something they've acknowledged and talked about making in a future patch. What I'm saying is that I imagine they'll save it for that, because the current system isn't equipped to properly handle that sorta thing (hence the Fantasia limit).

Just became a Roegadyn...I would like to have a more fitting name to go along with that. I don't know why this isn't something they don't offer on the Mog Station.

While we're on this subject, I'm wondering something: Why the purchasing limits on Fantasia?

Some of us...have poor self-discipline...but more importantly, we will still give S-E money.

Wholeheartedly agreeing on implementing a Name-Change service. Not only for those who wish to change genders, but also for those who want to change race and want a race-specific name. Imagine a Roegadyn with a Lalafell name...

Ok, I know I posted on 4-28-2014, over 5 months ago, but I'm hoping this picks up more traction as we haven't really heard anything about this... And yes, I also posted this in the poll forum as well, but it needs to be said. I will not give up!

There are several reasons for name changes to be legitimately added to the game.

1. With Fantasia potions being able to change race and genders and not names, this causes quite a few people to not bother with the service, as it is aggravating for people who would otherwise want to change their race or gender, but can't because their name is too race or gender specific.

2. With the addition of weddings at this point in the game, where people have spent the last year leveling and gearing a character, simply creating a new character is not a good option. This is rather a personal issue for me, though I know I mustn't be the only one, but when I made my character over a year ago, I did not know that weddings would be added to the game, so I made a male character based on a movie character/actor that I like. Now that weddings are being added, I would much rather marry as a female, and unless I am able to change my name, I will never use the wedding services that are to be provided in the future.

3. Dresses - Another feature that was added later in the game.

4. It will be a huge money generator. Really, Square, there's no reason a modern MMO should not have this as a paid service.

I have been waiting for over 7 months now to hear anything new about a name change service. It seems, however, that this option is something Square is barely taking a serious look at, and I'm losing patience and my love for this game, as I know I won't fully be able to enjoy the features coming in the future.

Is there any new word or reply from a dev about whether or not there will even be a possibility of a name change option? I feel like it would be a good idea since we CAN change genders with the phial of phantasia. Usually, people choose names that suit the way his/her character is portrayed.... This would also be an income generator for SE. I know a lot of people with gender specific names who use the phial of fantasia quite often.
