Thanks for trying, and not just discarding it as unplausible. The only reason I suggested it was because it DID in fact fix a problem with my system, which appeared to have started after my client crashed and files got corrupted. It could have happened from the 90000 forced disconnect from the server last night, or the 2002 crash on the next login attempt in the morning. Either way, the crash was due to an issue at the server level that caused the client to crash. So, even though you guys issue was very likely a serverside problem initially, some out there could in fact have corruption on their hard drive now because of the forced shutdowns of your clients.
This is a utility built into the OS, specifically designed to attempt to recover glitches in the file system that can arise from such a situation. It is a frequently used troubleshooting step too, by the way.
All I'm saying is it shouldn't hurt to TRY it at least, it might even resolve issues that some may not even know exist--who knows, it might allow some to get back in game.
For that matter... it might be something for SE to try on their servers as well--not outside the realm of possibility that they have some indexing problems or something that could be causing errors on the server when trying to load your characters or someting. IT could be a database specific issue with a similar remedy, or their actual hard drive's file system going AWOL on them... who knows.
