Jump No Longer Necessary after Patch 1.17

another point to take into consideration is they can alter existing zones aswell. infact i think they're gonna end up doing that anyway since it's all very copy/pasted scenery. i've walked up the exact same hill in thanalan in like 3 different places so far xD

No jump please :) I'm a Lalafell. Everyone would jump higher than me... and I DONT want to see me and my fellows lalafells jumping up to things as easily as everyone else could. Would be quite strange yes?

this is why the game will fail, a debate over jumping??? really? whats gonna happen when the time comes for real changes? anything they add to a game is a plus, if you dont want to jump then dont hit the jump key,

LOL fairly silly but I agree. The debate is dumb anyhow. The only reason because jump was not in FFIXV is because SE simply does not care about conventional MMO standards. They made their own thing and failed. Jump is something that should be in the game period. And like I said before, alot of people want it, I want it, and the casuals want it. So with Yoshida at the helm and the direction he is taking, jumping will be implemented in someway whether you like or not.

You people don't seem to realize that at this point, there is no way to add free jumping. I play with a game pad, and ALL my buttons are taken by important in game commands. There is no room for a jump button unless they get rid of something, but that will make more problems, especially when the ps3 version comes out. You play with a controller on the ps3, not a key board, and all the buttons on a normal ps3 game pad are used at this point.

They will probably have zelda based jumping if anything. Use your brains people -_-

you forget that this game is going to be released on the ps3, and therefore is going to need to work with a controller. If it was only going to be on the pc this would be an option, but it's not.

It's called customizable key mapping.

Yes, I don't think people have thought about this. I'm against free jumping but not against automatic, something Zelda style.
Even if I wanted free jump, all my controller buttons are all used up with important actions also.

Would be kinda odd if they added free-jump then only PC users could use it. I wonder how many PS3 users would be frustrated about that.

Well you guys didn't want jump anyway. Good news! Now you don't have to use it because you don't want to make room for it on your controller.

Actually thinking about it the controller issue is kinda a mute point.

They could easily make it so you jump by Clicking and holding the button for Emotes and then make it so emotes only trigger if the click and release is short enough.

If you don't want to jump, just don't jump when they add it to the game

That would be nice. ^^ Still, I'm for compromise if SE is able to. Jumping automatically off ledges would be alright. Though they fixed the ledges issue already. I'm happy with things the way they are now. Much easier to get around.

On a random note, I think jumping up onto a ledge would be awkward and unrealistic looking. Kinda cartoony.
If I approached something at knee/waist height irl I'd climb or step up onto it. Jumping, I'd only be in for a scraped knee. lol

I wouldn't mind seeing hopping off ledges automatically, and climbing up onto them, but that's so much unnecessary work right now since things are fine.

Actually a lot of people don't want to see bunny hopping morons. I see it in every mmo that has it. In rift all people do is jump on their mounts in WoW same thing. EQ2 same thing LOTRO same thing. FF has never had a ''jump button'' Just the option to jump to another platform every so often. Get over the fact that right now with this fix there is no need for jump and there never will be. I don't want to hear how it can make endgame fun that is BS. But if that is the case how about the option to jump in only those end game instances that need it.

Just because you don't know how to have fun doesnt mean you have to wreck it for everyone else.

Well I'm glad the ledges got adjusted at least, though i'm not seeing how people can think walking straight up ledges and not being able to jump are -more realistic-. Do you guys not have legs?

I haven't made an attempt to "Jump" since I was in highschool. It isn't something people do on a daily basis. even when doing things people do in MMO's.

All the time. I'm a seasonal deer and small game hunter when I have time. Even exploring the woods I never jump. Jumping causes noise that scares animals.

When I go hiking near my uncles in the Appalachian mountains I climb rocks, I don't jump. Jumping up onto rocks is how you break your ankle and die from being unable to get back to civilization.

If jumping is fun then all they have to do is add jumping and the game is fixed? This game has no reason to have jumping now the valid complaints are no longer valid.

It's annoying to look at if they would allow for a toggle where you can't see the jump that would be fine but highly unlikely.
