:::Petition:: Removal of 1017 and Reinstatement of Global Queue System

This is getting really tiresome. I know you guys are working on increasing capacity... but would a queue system that gave me an indication as to when i might be able to play be out of the question?

I remember Aion with its 3-5 hour long queues at launch...
This feels worse as I don't know when to "Try Again later". :/
Do I go watch tv for an hour? 2 hours? 3?

Im working 9am to 6pm this week, I try to login about 7-8pm mostly (got out early today and still no joy :< ).
I can't afford to login in the morning and leave my PC on all day just so I can play in the evening after work - something more than a few players are doing I believe.

I really don't get why they have such a horrid queue system. It was very stupid of them to limit the queue of the game in the first place. Its a lot worst adding in the fact there is no real thing that 'kicks' afk players at all, not helping at ALL with the server full issue.

I've been #24 in "queue" and #13 in "queue" in the past hour only to be kicked out with 1017. How can i be "IN" queue and then they server become full?? Can SE answer the logic behind this?

Sorry to ask an off-topic question, but can someone please explain what this "/10 char" thing I keep seeing is? (not just from the person above but from others too).

I also don't really get why "signed" has slash in front (either is it trying to mimick a game command?), but I'm completely lost on what 10 char means and quite curious!

Most forums that use this template have a 10 character minimum to make a post. So, for things like /signed, they can't post it cause it's less than 10 characters. /10 char eats up more of that minimum while trying to make fun of the 10 character minimum.

Why is there a queue cap and no idle timer? In 2013? Makes no sense.

I'm glad the game has been so successful but it makes me miss the quiet community of beta 3.

It would be helpful to at least know your in something and track progression. In addition, boot anyone who is inactive after a certain amount of time!!

I do find this to waste the 30-45 mins I can be playing in a given day. It should also give priority to people who have already signed up for a subscription fee plan. p2p pay to play seems like it should be an axiom of mmo's. I payed and I want to play.

AH, the cries of angry net people, who just scream to scream. Manners and social skills throw to the four winds because they can't play NAOW!

It would seem most people are annoyed by the fact they have to keep on trying to get in every few minutes, or they just cant get in at all.

Would the addition of a Pre-queue to the Login Queue? (I know it sounds silly but bear with me) Codewise it wouldnt really be that much, serverwise, well it might make load but it shouldn't be much. This is an alternative to just putting in the full Queue back in. That way, the 1017 error would go away, and people could attempt to log in, get told servers are full and they are in Q..That way they could go on with stuff they could do around the house, and not sit infront of their PS3/PC hitting a button/key over and over again as fast as they can to get into the game.

I would MUCH rather sit in a Q, to go into another Q than have to abuse my controller trying to play a game :)

It would seem that the 1017 error happens once the Q is so large...So like 150 people in Q, then #151 gets 1017'ed. I guess in a way a Q of 5000 people would tax the servers too

Actually that sheds light on the 1017 error...I would guess that the Q is always in place to keep a slow trickle of people logging in. Once a world hits a population level, or maybe a server hits a load level, the 'doors' lock and people get the 1017 error. So basically Phaetal, you were in Que, you were at the door, and the server turned loaded, so they locked the doors on you. That sucks :(

Bumping again * Thanks for everyones input and support on the topic its good to see we share the same opinion. The queue system itself shouldnt be a tax on the server considering its on an entirely separate server. So alot of teh talk about how it would render more processing and more issues to the server to have more queue is just a falacy in itself. The short and simple here is that they are failing to manage the servers correctly with the emense population and they need to do right by either doing a complete overhaul or stop micro managing and get the initial login fixed for everyone to enjoy. Not Timezone specific players.

yea there are alot of issues going on right now ive been trying to do one thing at a time else we might make SE's datacenter crash with overbearing complication =s, Depending on how well this turns out well find out wether or not SE listens to the playerbase or not. Hears to hoping
