This fixed it for me. From this Reddit comment. I started experiencing this version check issue after switching from FiOS to Comcast. Doing these steps fixed the problem. I'm guessing it needed to update IP and MAC info?Quote:
Some things that can solve the problem: 1. Uncheck the case "Read Only" in the Properties of your Square-Enix and My Games/Final Fantasy XIV: ARR folders 2. Run as administrator 3. Use compatiblity mode to XP.
Check your folders and make sure that the read only option is not ticked if its ticked untick it and apply
i dont know if someone found/said/did what i did, but for me this problem was cause due to a PC crash and it seem that the version file got corrupted in the process. Since in my case, i got the msg error after i login (user/password correct) so i decided to check the game version file (...SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn\game\ffxivgame.ver) and notice that it was empty O.o, so i look for the correct version (like this 2014.02.01.0000.0001), close the client, edit it with notepad, paste it in the file, save it and launch the game again (if that's the last update it ll just show you the play button otherwise it ll start downloading the patches after that version).
I hope it's clear and can be of help.
Hello,
I have tried most of the suggestion previously but didnt work, so i tried one last option and it worked,
I disabled my Wireless connection and plugged in an Ethernet cable directly to my router and the problem was fixed
(( i also had the same problem with STEAM and used the same fix ))
I am getting Unable to complete version check. 30410 30607 20457 404
Contacted Square Enix support... Not expecting results as most of the time the answers I get from them are vague at best.
Also, I couldn't help but notice that this thread was started summer of last year and hasn't been fixed yet.. what's going on?

Try disabling any adblock program/addon your using.
Few days ago i decided to try adblock plus (addon for firefox). When i have it activated the ffxiv launcher is acting really weird. It takes ages to load the boxes in which you enter your login info and things like that.
Just today it gave me the error message this topic is about. Since the only change to my system revently was installing the adblock i turned it off and tadaaa: launcher works fine again.
hope that helped
cheers Ty
I have this issue, However, i also use multiple HDDs, i shifted the XIV installation from my windows drive over to a different storage drive and ran it from there, ran into a single error about an "Account-gate" url, then closed the window.
Ran the Launcher again, no errors, began downloading patch as normal. Will update to say if i managed to log in.
EDIT: I have managed to log in fully.
Second Edit: Moved XIV back to its original location, still works fine now.
"Unable to complete version check. [30410][30607][20457][404]"
Worked fine yesterday after I downloaded the newest patch, and log on this evening to a new downloading patch and now I can't log in. >_<
OK guys, I hit this issue on a brand new Windows 8.1 install. I tried all the things mentioned in this thread and nothing worked for me, IE Run as Admin, Read-only, reset router, release/renew IP, disable firewall etc
I then started to open some of the files (using Notepad) to check out the contents and these are the 2 important ones I believe.
C:\Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn\boot\ffxivboot.ver
C:\Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn\game\ffxivgame.ver
My ffxivboot.ver was reporting this version number
2014.01.18.0000.0001
However my ffxivgame.ver was blank. I copied the version number and pasted it into ffxivgame.ver and saved it. I then ran up the launcher and my game started downloading a 657mb patch with February dates, so after the 2014.01.18 my version number was reporting. Once it finished download/updating these I could play.
Hope this helps someone, judging from the number of posts there are obviously numerous reasons for this error to pop.
Was helping my niece with the this problem on her laptop, tried all the methods mentioned and the one that worked was running malware scan and squashing 30+ bugs. Didn't bother to check which one was causing the problem. After that it went straight to log in screen, log in and started patching. Unfortunately, wasn't able to finish the patch cause I forgot to take the power cable -_- and so battery went poof...
So, try all the methods cause one might work for one but not the other.
I have tried everything listed here to no avail. I'm at a loss now, it's just really frustrating. Has anyone heard of any other fixes? I've been scanning reddit and anywhere else I can think of for a fix.
Same problem here
nothing worked
even delete everything and reinstall didn't worked
Now i can't download it again because I cant start the Launcher
Just updated mumble and suddenly started getting the
"Unable to complete version check.
[30605][20448][10009][10019]"
Tried uninstalling, running as admin and unchecking all files from read only but still nothing :( just upgraded account to collectors as well for the Coeurl mount :((
So what worked on this i have been tring for hours to fix this...
I get this error....get it fixed....now I try to log in....gets to the loading before character is logged in with the Moogle at bottom right and it keeps loading and get "server error (2)(17)." Had someone log me in and put me in my inn. I was able to log in.Testing teleporting and stuff now...I try to teleport to Moh Dohna....and get the same "server error(2)(17)"....Anyone know a way this can be fixed? Thank you...:(
EDIT:Worked (I am guessing) in non populated zones, when teleporting to those zones. I can't get into Mohr Dohna without it doing the error(2)(17)...any suggestions? Maybe due to populated zone? I know my GFX card can handle it though. I really do not understand. Should I ask for a backup on my character?
-Updated latest Direct X
-Complete new HDD and newly installed windows 7 64 bit
-Have done all Window Updates
-Even uninstalled the virus program I usually use, Avira, then started using Windows Defender.
-Game runs very smoothly on high settings still
-Currently trying to tweak with graphics, but I really don't think that is the issue
Only error is when I try to teleport to Mohr Dohna, it gets stuck at loading screen. Which is the Error (2)(17)... Please admin or anyone. Please help me figure this out.:(
Bad news for those who've tried the easy fixes and failed:
I tried uninstalling FFXIV, deleting the registry entries, reinstalling, etc. Nothing. It just flat wouldn't update or load properly. I even downloaded a fresh copy of the installer. Finally, I just reinstalled windows, since I like to do it about every 6 months anyways to keep everything running well. Now it works, after a full reinstall of windows and ffxiv. I kept my old FFXIV config folder from My Documents\My Games and it works just fine, so the problem wasn't there for me. Doing this will preserve your UI and stuff, since you won't be able to use the backup option on the loader since the thing won't load.
I have no clue what the problem could be, but it must be a conflict with a system file form another program or something. Either way, talk about frustrating. Enjoy reinstalling everything.
Didnt eork for me i still need help
Didnt eork for me i still need help
Also would "Intel RST service is not running" icon at bottom right have anything to do with it? Like do you know what must be done to clear that? Heck, that may be the problem there. Also, I appreciate the response. Was hoping for someone to say something. Thanks for your time.
EDIT:I got a new HDD and started fresh, so I already have reinstalled everything by the way, lol.
Admin. Please check this thread and please tell me there is a solution. :(
I'm having the same problem described throughout this thread. I've tried all solutions I've found here and google, except reinstalling my operating system (which I'm not up to).
My gf is going to quit the game if this cant be fixed. She uninstalled thr game and everything and still gives her the error unable to complete version check. How u fix this please help
im having the same problems cept my error code is a bit different its [30605][20448][10009][10019] last time i had this problem i deleted some random unwanted program and it worked just fine, but this time i have no idea what the problem is, its really frustrating >:( oh and by last time i mean a few days ago.
Is there a phone number u can call to talk yo some one?
A quick update. I was able to finish the boot and launch the updater (had to start from zero, since I reinstalled the game), but in windows safe mode + networking. Obviously I will not be able to run the game due to the poor drivers, but I'm hoping the safe mode can at least restore the game to a point that I can use after a normal boot. Hope it helps someone.
i seem to have fixed my issue, what happened was i started up the task manager and was looking through processes when i came across one that was named SavingsbullFilterService64.exe when i stopped it i was able to get in to the lodestone at least but now im getting an error [30428] that mean anything to anybody?
a reinstalling fixed that error as well, its updating itself now.
Solved my case by stopping service SavingsbullFilterService64.exe. I reinstalled the game, but I'm not sure if this was necessary. Updated my game in safe-mode, which makes sense since the service was not running. I don't know what this service is, antivirus and anti-malware software do not seem to recognize it as harmful.
I am also getting the error [30605][20448][10009][10019] and I have tried all the options listed on this and a few other threads. Please contact us and help resolve this issue.
This wasn't exactly what I was seeing, but the boot version and game version were different numbers. So, I changed the boot version to the game version number, since it was more recent. That didn't solve anything, so I changed it back to the original version number ... and now it booted. I don't care. It's fixed, but these little problems w/ FFXI ARR are getting really old.
Ok seriously 2 days and they have not even replied about this? I mean we better be getting these days credited to our accounts.
To anyone who is experiencing this problem now: there is a number of possible sources for this error, apparently. A summary of information gathered from this thread and the web follows, but there is no guarantee that it will work (it seems to be something different to everyone):
1 - Check your ffxivboot.ver and ffxivgame.ver files (you can open them with a text editor). Some ppl noticed that one of them may be in blank when it should contain something like "2014.01.18.0000.0001". The content does not have to be the same.
2 - Open your task manager (ctrl+alt+del > task manager), and check your services tab if there is a "SavingsbullFilterService64.exe" process running. It seems that protection software does not recognize this as malware (actually, you won't even see it as an uninstallable program). Killing this process may help (in my case I deleted it from the pc; it was advertising rubbish...)
3 - Someone reported that temporarily disabling Windows Defender and/or protective browser extensions (such as AdBlock, etc) solved the issue.
4 - There were also cases where copying the entire boot folder from somebody else worked (be careful, though, for not downloading malicious stuff)
5 - Try rebooting the pc in safe mode + network to see if you can get to the launcher. If so, it is advised revisiting #2 (and consider a different conflicting service)
6 - Restoring the system to a date where the game was working (this is a bit drastic, but makes sense)
7 - Reinstall the game (even more drastic, but some people were able to get through; current updates can be as high as 6 GB)
8 - Reinstall Windows (this should be a final resource)
Looks like I just joined the "why to me guild", lol. Just started giving me the error code:confused:
I just Fix it thank to RSB. That saving the bull smack!!!!!
This is how i got mine to work.
1. Go to Documents/My Games/Final Fantasy folder
2. Move the FFXIV cfg file somewhere else like your desktop. Don't delete it or all your screen/sound settings will reset.
3. You will get past the version check and before clicking play put the FFXIV cfg file back.
OK, I just got a new computer, and am trying to update a new install and I am getting the same error. Tried most of these methods and none of them worked. Please help, this is really annoying.
After trying every single idea on this thread apart from reinstalling windows...Not an option, to much work for a game.... I saw the "Processes" Post from RSB.
I popped into my processes and I saw the SavingsbullFilterService64.exe. This is after I'd seen it in my uninstall programs list 2 weeks earlier and deleted it, it was still there!!!
This time I right clicked and went to the containing folder, I also followed the "Breadcrumbs" back to the main folder...or my case 2 folders of "Savingsbull" faecal matter...and deleted them both completely after shutting down the process just for the endorphin rush it gave me.
Now tried launcher, big smiley happy times and laughter joyfulness, it all worked.:D
Main thanks to RSB for this one, Dude...Taa muchly!!!
For now Khaos beckons me........:p:cool:
