This is not a bug. We're locked out of the game on purpose because the servers can't handle the amount of people using them. Even worse than being victim to this, is the fact that SE has offered little more than a generic news feed to explain or apologize for it. The default message that comes up for 1017 should be changed to "Your access to the game has been arbitrarily revoked to prevent system failure".
Been trying all day to log in, been a "fun" day at watching the 1017 error, when i get to pass to the loading screen i get 2002 error just to spice things up, well that was my early access since i cant play tomorrow, splendid job from SE, im worried that on tuesday things will just get worst
Exactly right, and it is a complete and utter disgrace. Essentially what they've done is take money for a service they cannot provide. They need to fix this problem and it needs to be done soon.

Repeatedly apologizing for your incompetence is only going to make people more angry, myself included. Fix the problem or at the very least give us a real update to the issue so we can at least try to make a guess as to WHEN we might actually be able to the play the game that we already PAID for. Just a complete failure across the board on SE's part to this early access.

Been getting 1017 and nothing but, no queue, not a single successful login, for over 6 hours. My wife has been logged in right next to me all day, and has logged on and off multiple times with no issues.

Don't let them fool you, this is still the 90000 and 10102 errors. The maintenance just renamed them so now we know why its happening.

Not sure why I even bothered preordering if I wouldn't be able to login all weekend. /nothappy
And the best/worst port of this whole thing is, it's only Early Access. What the hell are the wait times going to be like once it's open for everyone?
4 hours later and still cant get in
Well until next weekend, have to sleep to wake early to work, and played for a total of 5-7 hours, and couldn't do instances thus couldn't progress my character.
I really hope you compensate for this by adding something cool to early access.

Ya I love the white knights being like all mmo's fail like that is the excuse. So it's not ok for us to be like we paid for early access got nothing and feel ripped off because other game companies can't launch a game well either? By that reasoning if your food is under cooked and you get food poisoning it's cool because other places have had it happen? Cmon this is a rip off all non-legacy players pre-ordered this game to beat the starting zone zerg of regular access will bring and now we are all stuck even though we supported the game. Then to top it all off we are getting no dev updates at all in the past what 16+ hours this is horse SH*T plain and simple. They sold us something saying we would get early access and we don't have it plain and simple.
Edit* To add insult to injury it's only NA/EU servers all jpn servers work fine made a char on EVERY JPN server no problems and no queue.
5 hours waiting for the servers to even show up and another 3 hours of dealing with 1017. I really love this game, just wish I could actually get a chance to play it without all of the server issues. Between maintenance and server errors had about 10 hours of waiting yesterday. Most people don't have 9-10 hours a day just to try to get into the game. Asking someone to wait until other people leave the server is not a solution. Need more servers and server transfer as soon as possible. I am a patient person and will wait how ever long it takes for this to get fixed but if this isn't fixed soon it will really hurt the game.

Just gonna throw this out there.. but... Beta 4 was a test phase. Stop using it like it was a retail launch. EA is also no official launch, for the record
Secondly, (unless you got cheated) the pre-order (to get early access) did not cost a single cent more than the normal game purchase. Those saying "Oh, my legacy didnt cover this and that for the early access" Well, that was your choice to freely spend more money on another copy of the game, that again, did not cost any extra to 'pre-order'. What a joke SE. Your instance fix is to get rid of the queue system and just tell your paid customers they can't play and to come back later? You took my money 1.0 and now "ARR" and it's only going to get worse. I was patient with all your BS errors 37, 3102, 90k, 10102 but my patience is gone. Quit giving us your crap apologies and fix it now.

Having the same issue of "This World is currently full" message....I have been trying to play all day, and between the 3012 error I was getting since noon and the now full world message since 9pm I have gotten to play a total of 30ish minutes. I know all MMORPGs have issues on launch, but this is kind of ridiculous.

Just got in after 3 hours of error 1017 and right as soon as I did the servers went down for maintenance :*( QQ but at least I got to log out in a sanctuary this time.
Maintenance is done, It seems the server are back up for some people, I still have the same 1017 error... Can't log in.

I'm getting this as well going onto Sargatanus. Is there perhaps a suggestion box? Earlier with all the que, and having random disconnects I noticed something. When I was in game, there was quite a bit of people who didn't even move from their spots for hours. Is there some reason an auto afk boot hasn't been implemented? That would perhaps free up slots for people who will be active.
I have been trying to login to my character off and on since about 5 p.m. EST on August 25th. I was able to get past the "Error 1017" once in the last 9 hours, and it was just minutes before the 12:00 to 1:30 a.m. EST maintenance. I was happy about this, thinking that maybe the afore mentioned error would be fixed, and that I would be able to log into my character and finally be able to play. Yes this is very frustrating to me, and I hope that SE has a brilliant and flawless gameplan to wipe this error off the face of my log-in screen forever lol. I took a week off of work (vacation) perfectly timed with the early access release of FFXIV. Please save my vacation SE! Your my only hope!
Got in about 5 hours, then logged off for lunch. And my old nemesis is back again, 1017. I was hoping that this was solved, guess it isn't yet. Please do something about it, I'd be happy to transfer to another server. If it means I can play, thats all I'm asking for. To be able to play the game I've payed for, and yes I have payed for it. Picking up the physical copy tonight, Gamestop called and said it'll be available for p/u this evening.
