Regarding the pre-order bonuses:

Are early access and the in-game items handled by a single code, or are the items under a separate code from the early access?

For example, I have an existing Legacy account, so I already have early access. Suppose I pre-order a new copy because now my spouse wants to play, but she doesn't care much about the items. Would it be possible to split the pre-order bonuses so that the items are applied to my existing account, but the early access gets applied to my spouse's account? Or would putting the items on my account also mean I'm forced to put the early access also on my account (effectively wasting it because I already have that from Legacy)?

If you want early access, you'll either have to be Legacy status, OR have pre-ordered the collector's edition.

You don't need to repurchase the game again to get early access though, there will be a free client download for anyone who played 1.0 on PC.

Changing the status of a current Windows service account must be done through a digital upgrade. Your current service account cannot be overwritten with a new registration code from the collector's edition.

Well now I'm confused. I have a PS3 and I have a 1.0 CE Legacy account.
I preordered PS3's standard edition.
As long as I link it to my PC account I'll be able to use the pre-order code without problems.

The problem would only arise were I not to link my account to the PS3 version.

OK, now I'm very confused. I was under the impression that buying the PS3 CE would allow me to upgrade my standard 1.0 account to CE (getting me the digital CE items and the physical CE items). Now it sounds like that's not the case at all. Here's what I want:

- I have a Legacy standard 1.0 account
- I want the physical ARR CE items (art book, soundtrack, etc.)
- I want the digital ARR CE items (behemoth minion, etc.) on my legacy standard 1.0 account
- I want the pre-order ARR items (mog cap, etc.) on my legacy standard 1.0 account

How do I best accomplish this?

Same boat as you. Currently we have to buy the physical CE for the items for $69.99/whatever and purchase the digital upgrade for our standard accounts which is $19.99.

The easiest way is to buy the PS3 CE version. If you don't have a PS3, you have to buy a PHYSICAL copy of the PC CE from the SE store, OR upgrade your account to a CE account digitally. HOWEVER, if you upgrade your account, you only get the DIGITAL items. If you want ANY of the PHYSICAL items, you MUST buy either the PHYSICAL BOX copy of the PS3 or PC CE version.

right but that DOESN"T include the preorder code that I'm after as well correct?

SE, could this process be anymore convoluted? Everything from managing the SE account, to sub accounts within the main account, SEN account linking, how CE bonuses are applied, is so needlessly complex.

My version with the above. I am a legacy, standard edition, 1.0 player and I want to authorize my only FFXIV service account (Only want to deal with one. I do not have the intentions to play on both platforms at the same time.) to play on PS3. Along with this, I want to take advantage of all of the benefits the physical collectors edition provides and preorder bonuses.

Now, if I preorder and purchase the physical PS3 collectors edition, and apply that to my only FFXIV service account, does that effectively upgrade my account from standard to collectors, and will I be able to redeem the bonuses across all characters tied to that FFXIV service account?

Not sure if this is full complaint worthy, and it is certainly not an inquiry, but definitely an opinion.

I think it is absurd that 1.0 players who wish to invest in the Collector's Edition of 2.0 will be unable to upgrade their account with such a package. Being that we are perhaps your most devoted fan, I don't think it is unreasonable that purchasing the full collector's edition, with the physical items included, would allow us to make the transition from 1.0 to 2.0. The notion that "the registration code for the Windows collector's edition cannot be used with a pre-existing Windows service account," that is, the accounts of players who have supported FFXIV through its overhaul, is utterly ridiculous.

What I propose is a combination of the digital upgrade and the collector's edition: allow 1.0 players to upgrade digitally and purchase the physical items as well. As is, we can purchase the following: the Windows CE, which gives us physical CE items with no in-game upgrade; the digital upgrade, which gives us the in-game upgrade but no physical items; and the PS3 CE, which gives us physical items and a digital upgrade, but we may not own PS3s or wish to play on them, especially after possibly investing in superior PCs to play FFXIV on in the first place. Hopefully this post hasn't been too confusing.

In short, there should be a package which includes all of the Collector's Edition items (both in-game and IRL) and the upgrade from 1.0 to 2.0 for 1.0 players.

SE has bent over backwards to recognize the players who purchased Ver1.0 with benefits available in ARR. I applaud them for that. Not many companies would go to lengths that they did following a failed release. Having said that i appears that they made 1 major mistake that is causing heartburn among the populace. They did not make arraignments to allow players with existing accounts to purchase the physical CE for windows and link it to their existing account. Instead they must also buy the Digital Upgrade and an additional cost to them. This pretty much negates the benefit of the free client download that they were to receive. SE has 3 months to rectify this error and I strongly suggest that they do so before the good will that they have built up with the player base dissipates and bad word of mouth permeates the gaming community.

I guess I will add to the confusion factor. I am a Ver 1.0 owner so according to Yoshida I will get a 2 week "Welcome Back" period. I also ordered the PS3 CE which has a free 30 day trial period in it. So if I wait til the end of the 2 week "Welcome Back" and then register my PS3 version and link it to my current account do I get an additional 30 day free trial period added on for a total of about 7 weeks of free play time?

Hi, I'm waiting for the physical version Collector's Edition in the Store EU ( https://store.eu.square-enix.com/emea_europe/ ) . You can make sure that when they are added to the physical versions will also include pre-order codes?

Atleast for myself, I found a plan of action to get my physical items, get my CE, and get a friend to play. Right now I am legacy SE, I buy the 69.99 CE for windows, all I want is the physical items in the CE. So I sell my friend my Collector edition registration for 29.99 (The same price he would have paid for the standard edition.) And then I upgrade my account to collector edition status. Now here is my assumption, the pre-order registration code is a separate entity from the actual game so I just pocket the pre-order registration code as well.

So if I'm right, I get the CE physical items for 39.99 (Minus the 29.99 I sell the actual game registration/disc to my friend.), I get the CE game for a 19.99 upgrade, and I get the pre-order bonus as well. I win out by paying 10 bucks less for the CE. I hope at the very least.

I will be screwed however if the pre-order code is attached to the game registration itself. However I never actually seen that happen, its usually a "Well here is your pre-order code in this handy email" kind of thing.

I just think it's a shame that you can't be a totally new player with a partner with one PS3 and one PC, buy one copy of each format of the CEs and both be able to play on both systems (one of you could play on both, but the other would be restricted to PC). It just seems weird that the PS3 version is restricted in this way.

At the very least, I'd suggest that the option be available for accounts registered for PC play to have a reduced-rate 'unlock code' for PS3 play (like £5 or so). Probably never gonna happen though.

Anyhow, if anyone who knows me feels their best option is to get the PS3 version, but don't have the PS3 to register a PSN account, etc. I don't mind helping out and doing that for you. I'm having one friend make use of my PS3 in that fashion already.

I *think* 30 day free trials are on new accounts only. So if you link your PS3 to your existing 1.0 char account (which is what I am doing also, for all the reasons as discussed in these threads) you would not get those 30 days free.

I have a cancelled service account that had used the 1.0 CE code which I still have. I had created a new character with a new service account since using a month trial code that came with my 1.0 CE (still under the same account, just new service account). I read somewhere that we will be able to input our 1.0 CE reg code to receive the 2.0 items. Since I used the code already, can I use it again to get the items for the new character I created in 1.0?

Is anyone else getting an error when trying to purchase any of the items for A Realm Reborn? At present, I am attempting a purchase of the standard edition of the PS3 game as well as the CE edition of the PC, with plans to later upgrade my current account to CE status (when this option becomes available). I am hoping that, if I visit a friend who has a PS3 and make a proper PSN account, then use the PS3 code for that, that it won't matter that I actually don't own that PS3 and am only making a PSN account to use this code.

Anyway, the point being that whenever I attempt the purchase, I get an error message which says:

Hello I want to preorder a Collector's Edition on Europe to get the bonus items from preorder and the collector's edition items on my actual 1.0 account.

The problem I find is that when I go to your store, https://store.eu.square-enix.com/emea_europe/ I only find PC Download option.

I already have a 1.0 Legacy Account, not collector, and I don't want to preorder a Digital Copy, I want to preorder PS3 Collector's Edition with the artwork, OST, cards and the bonus items to link to my actual PC version cause I won't play on PC.

I want to preorder a PS3 but is not listed on the european store, but it's on JP and NA. Why I can't?

Here's a couple more questions I couldn't find answers to.

I have two friends (a couple) who live together and own a PS3 and a PC. Neither have had any FFXIV 1.0 experience before. They both want to play ARR and be able to play with each other. However, the PC is a laptop and suitable therefore for gaming out and about; the PS3 is plugged in to the TV and will be the preferred way of playing. This means that both of them will want to play on both systems at some point when the other isn't around.

Now with FFXI, you could buy one XBox360 copy and one PC copy, use the codes on separate accounts, but still have both accounts play on both systems (I did this with my g/f of the time back in '06). I'm to understand that this is no longer possible from the responses so far.

Basically my friends here have to buy two copies of the Windows and two copies of the PS3 version. That bites, but I can understand it to a degree - you're paying for the license to play on a given system each time, rather than access to the game. It's a shame you're not keeping the cross-platform model that was present in FFXI, but meh.

Given this scenario, I have two questions that I'd like an answer on.

1) Having bought two copies of the game each, registered to separate PSN/S-E/FFXIV Service Accounts, does applying the codes from both PC and PS3 versions grant 60 days of access without subscription, rather than the 30? This makes the situation £15.38 more attractive for the pair of them, for a start.

Hmm... I second this question! :)

I don't really mind paying for both, either way. What did suck (for XI) was only being able to DL one update at a time. Could only be logged in once, so the PS2 took literally hours sometimes, and you could do nothing else while it updated.

I apologize in advance if this has already been addressed or answered. I'm really not up to skimming through 15 more pages of mass confusion.

Anyway, I purchased two copies of the Collector's Edition for the PC just after pre-orders were announced. At first, it took a few days for my bank to display a pending transaction. It did eventually, taking out the correct amount. A few days later, the money was back in and the transaction disappeared. I've been letting this go for a couple days now to see if it clears up. I thought it was the traffic/order volume that the SE store was receiving, so I didn't think anything of it. However, it's getting a bit confusing for me as to why my money is in this perpetual limbo. I've tried contacting my bank, but to no avail. I don't want to suddenly miss out on my pre-order, you know?

Anyone else having this problem?

Hi. I don't know if I'd call it a problem. I can say that I, too, ordered a PC CE from the SE store. They charged it to my credit card (in full). Within a few days, there was no record of the transaction on my credit card at all. Companies normally don't bill your CC until they ship your product, so this seems normal. To me, the odd part was charging it to begin with.

It's irrelevant but I ended up canceling my order and ordering a PS3 CE from Amazon instead. But I just wanted to let you know that what happened to you also happened to me, and I don't think it's a problem. I think your pre-order is safe. If it makes you feel better you could log into findmyorder.com (if you ordered from SE Store) and checking to make sure it's still there.

Thanks. I don't usually pre-order anything unless it's putting money down on an order from Gamestop or something. Hopefully this is the case and I don't miss out on anything. It's still a bit unsettling that the money was taken out at all. It was actually taken out a couple times, then revoked, putting the money back in. I just don't want my bank to flag it and put a ban on my card.

Nothing would cause a problem if I would upgrade my 1.0 account later and have bought the standard ps3 version to play with the same account PC/PS3, right?

I wouldn't worry about it. Stores normally hold the amount requested for a set amount of time or until they give you the physical product. It's just a way of checking you actually have the money to buy the item in question. I would recommend just leaving the amount in your bank account until you get the item, you know - just in case.

I *THINK* what happened was SE was checking your card to see if you had the funds. When it found out yes, it refunded you the money.

What about my problem? Every time I try to purchase any of the items available for pre-order, it gives me this:

ERROR:

Your data was not saved. Please try again later. We apologize for this inconvenience.

Error Number: SYS_000006

Specifically, I am trying to pre-order both the PC CE and the PS3 standard edition, with intentions of upgrading my current account to CE status once the option is available. I know that must seem rather ridiculous, but I intend to give the extra codes to friends who are willing to play with me :P.
