Did it say all players with active accounts would be invited?

I have no problem with SE getting players who quit in the beta or something more polished to show them the progress first hand... it really bothers me they are letting people who's accounts have been inactive for years to get into alpha. It just does not make any sense to do.
Alpha should be comprised of the die hard fans mainly, those who will not rage about something being incomplete or broken. I only hope it is a good mix of new and old, but getting in people who rage quit the game long ago is only going to get the game blasted on forums.
People will not care about the NDA, if a person who hated 1.0 hates the glitches or bugs in 2.0 Alpha it will be all over the forums that 2.0 will fail because of X reason. And even if the logical person knows it is only alpha.... it will increase the size of the mountain XIV has to claim to have a successful release.
I do not think anyone here knows everyone who got invited or the spread between active and Non-active(those who have not played in the last year), but I hope SE done the right thing.
Excuse me, does it say somewhere that they will stop sending alpha test invitations per mail this week? It's still tomorrow left. I for one are gonna chill my pants down and try to cheer up even if i too wanted an invitation first.
They mentioned in a post that all the mails have been sent out for this phase and that if we didn't get one (by now) that there were more tests coming up in the future.
Extremely safe to say that if you don't have one now, you haven't gotten in but don't be disheartened^^
Considering that you need an active paying account to apply to the alpha, what you said is literally impossible.
alpha should be comprised of whoever the fk fits what SE is looking for, and ffs nobody rages harder than "die hard fans".Quote:

You are on the top of that list.
I'll scout real fast for you, might take a minute!
Fast edit, lodestone mainpage:
We have recently begun sending notification e-mails to players accepted as alpha testers for FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn. For those who do not receive an acceptance notification this time, fear not! There will be need to fortify our ranks as time goes on, so your chance to take up arms in battle may come yet.
SE's mailer system is pretty awesome and this went up a few hours ago. Those who haven't received emails now won't until a later test D:
Well that surely didn't take long lol.......Starlord knows our people
But you have this information in the alpha registration page:
Criteria to select alpha testers is based on what you put into alpha, but NDA enbreachments extend past all of that. There are penalties as such, which have been outlined. If you want to take the risk, so be it. It's not mine to judge whether you see it as reasonable or unreasonable to risk your FFXIV account.Quote:
Disclosure of Proprietary Information
As stated in the “FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn Tester Agreement,” testers are prohibited from publicizing any proprietary information related to the Alpha Test on external sites. In the event that we confirm that infringement has occurred, your rights to be a tester will be revoked and your FINAL FANTASY XIV account will be suspended.
We will announce if and when Alpha Test-related details can be publicized, so please take great care in their handling until they have been made public. For feedback and discussions between testers, please use the dedicated tester forum, which will open at a later date.
Sorry pumpkin, lodestone mainpage! If invites are still going out I'll totally eat my socks (and they're really nice socks too :( )
But don't be holding your breath just incase^^;
The wording doesn't explicitly say they're done, but it does sound very much like it D:
This is not true, actually. I have a friend who was able to apply to the Alpha without an active XIV account. She had played the game before but her XIV account was closed when she applied (and still is). I've read people like this receiving invites from several sources and I don't have any reason to believe it wouldn't be true.
Fans Rage but want the game to succeed and are up to date on changes and planned changes. Those who are not fans rage and could care less if the game succeed, they are the ones who have the mentality that there is no chance for the game. They are the ones wanting to see the changes to prove the game has improved. There is a major difference, while fans rage the hardest at times, the dmg done by non-fans raging is alot worse they give less chances.
Have to remember most people in the Na are not use to Alpha test, they are use to playable demos pre release(most company's call them beta). Just saying if SE runs this as a true alpha test and not a demo bad things can happen.
THIS IS WHY I HAVE OPENED THIS THREAD.
Ohh, so it seems that i'm not the only one in contact with ppl that got an invitation with inactive account.
We'll i suppose that they're all trolling us. :P
I just want clarification if this is a bug, working as intended, or anything else now.
Glad to help^^ I hope you guys get lucky in the future!
/Yawn, gotta love Mondays
Same, just got off the phone with a friend of mine who basically quit after the first free month after launch (although he had been playing since closed Alpha, one of the first testers). He came back once about a year later and I helped PL him up a few before he was gone again, lasted about a month or two. And he just got another invite to this Alpha. So yeah, invites have nothing to do with whether or not you've been supporting/playing XIV over these past two years.. in fact it seems as if that actually hurts your chances. I guess in their eyes, they already have our support so they don't think we'll rage that much (or for too long) if they overlook us for early access to the unfinished ARR.
To anyone that's disappointed they didn't receive an invite, just understand you aren't missing out on terribly much. I know that's not much consolation since some really really want to get in there and make a character to try things out, but you'll get there eventually. Alpha doesn't last very long, they'll be inviting more into it soon anyway and before you know it we'll be in open beta. Honestly, most of you wanting in would get bored by the limited nature of the alpha gameplay once you got done making your character and killing a couple of monsters.
Not trying to sound high and mighty, just saying it like it really is.
You could repay him by sharing his char name so he gets booted lol. Just some vengeful thoughts I had if I were you hahahah.
Hey we all will just have to use the waiting skills we have honed over the last 2 years and wait for beta. It sucks I know but hey what can you do?
lmao, oh well, we're going to play it eventually, hopefully, Alpha, Beta or full version... so, meh.
This sums up so well the problem with so many people here.
You're not applying for "early access" to the game, it's fine if that's your aim, but as far as I'm concerned you can gtfo if you expect sympathies from others because you weren't picked.
Alpha is for test, testing, and more testing, it's not for you to go and play.
People need to understand that people wont get much playtime in Alpha, chances are they run on a rather stringent scheduel and picked the first wave from availabillity if anything. The phase the Alpha is going into more than likely is "Warm bodies test" to check out how the server handles connections from around the world and larger numbers.
imagine if Coca Cola handled its taste testing like this, there would be riots in the streets, but that Nu Coke might actually taste good.
I'm sure you can enlighten us all on the numbers of "inactives" that got picked for alpha vs the "actives" that got picked for alpha right?
I mean, there's no way you are just pulling **** out of your arse right?
Go ahead, we're waiting with abated breath.
Iirc, Yoshi said that he whould be trying to get current players inside alpha asap, didnt he? So he ends up changing minds and inviting ppl that didnt care at all about it? lol...
Tbh i sent in my alpha invitation 2 days after my account was locked due to not paying it, i was worried because i though it whouldnt be considered but since i've been hearing that ppl with inactive accounts got in, i feel much better.
I'm sure that they mostly picked ppl with alot of time to test, and good pc specs (i recently bough a pc just for XIV testing, altho i cant modify my alpha registration, and at that time had an awful pc lol... Guess i'll have to wait and hopefully enter sometime soon.
Here's a old post of mine when i panic~ed about signing up with an inactive account:
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...%29-successful
It didnt give any error while sending it out, so i think its up till 1 month of inactive that starts to affect it maybe.
The people whining about not getting in are mostly the people that would not report even one bug if they got in anyway. They are just seeing it as an easy access method to check out the game.
