I'm all for it! <3 I'm honestly surprised this isn't a reality yet, all things considered.
Accesibility is always good.
More languages, more players you can get
Yes please, I want to understand what Urianger says everytime. T_T
Vamos!
Good morning, afternoon or evening (Depending on when you read this)
My nick-name in the game is Jonas Jodio and I've been playing XIV since 1.0 ( Yes, I am one of those people who experienced limited teleports).
I used to play FFXI too, and the moment I saw news about FFXIV's realease I was very excited and my first thought was "I'll play it and I hope it comes in spanish" but unfortunately the translation didn't happen.
To this day I still play with the same enthusiasm as when the game launched, but I also have that sour feeling of having to go through the texts quickly because unfortunately I don't have a very good level of English and, since this is the case, all I have left are the story summary videos of the spanish-speaking community to understand what's happening in the story.
I know it's something you're tired of hearing and reading, but please. Do it for the Spanish community, the Latin American community, for those of us who work all day long and when we return home the first thing we do is connect to your game, those of us who want to enjoy the story without later having to look for summaries in our language to understand what's going on.
I know it is hard work we are asking of you, but please, Mr. Yoshida. We would be eternally grateful if you would make a translation for Final Fantasy XIV Online.
I would really love for this game to be, at least, translated into Spanish.
I have no problem with english. I've spoken it fluently ever since I was a kid and I've had no problem getting through the entire game and its four expansions in english. However, it's been complicated to get so many of my closest friends into this game only because of a lack of a spanish translation. It would make SO much good, mostly because I want to play with my friends and show them this wonderful game. Therefore, I wholeheartedly support this initiative.
There are thousands and thousands of players who would enter or return to the game just for it to be translated into Spanish <3
I hope one day , enjoy the game in Spanish
I’ve been desperately trying to get a lot of friends to try the game, but it’s very difficult mostly due the English level needed for understanding the game. Having it in Spanish would be fantastic.
¡Muchas gracias por esta iniciativa!
Wholeheartedly support this! It's unbelievable there isn't a Spanish translation of the game!
Yes, please! we native spanish speakers would love to bring more friends into the game, but the languaje is still a barrier to so many.
Personally I been playing since ARR, im from South America and i know a lot of people who didnt continue playing because they couldnt understand all the story.
English speaker here! Just chiming in to say I wholeheartedly support a Spanish translation.
I understand it is a massive undertaking and translation is not a simple, 1-to-1 process, but improving accessibility for players whose native language isn't supported should be a priority for the development team. I would happily wait longer for content if it meant more players could enjoy the game experience in their own language.
Thank you for listening. /bow
I'm not a Spanish speaker but I support this petition in solidarity. Always found it weird there was no ES among the localized languages in the game seeing how widespread it is! ^^
(Just a word of warning: don't expect it anytime soon even if this goes somewhere - these kinds of things take a lot of time to do well!)
Spanish here. There was countless of times that I tried to recommend this game to a lot of friends but it's the language what it takes them from having a good experience. So they don't play at all. I mean we are like the 2nd most talked language of the planet and we aren't even asking for a full voiced translation. It seems weird for Square to not translate the game. I love this game and this community so I would love to share it with more people.
Thanks at least for listening to us.
Pretty good initiative, you have all my support. Let's hope we can someday open the game to even more people who would enjoy the game more if it was indeed translated in spanish !
It's crazy how this game DOESN'T have a Spanish translation yet! Would love to see Spanish as an option for the game!
Yes, please! As a translator and a long-time Spanish player, I know the challenge is daunting - especially with the premise of five expansions worth of content behind and the whole matter of an official dub - but seeing a game and a story so important to a lot of us in our own native language would mean a lot to us. Many of us, myself included, can say we know of a few friends that don't really give the game a try because of the lack of official Spanish support.
Never thought about this not being a language option alongside French and German. Kind of blows my mind this isn't a thing already.
Support this and hope SE does it
I fully support this! I'm a brazilian but I have seen a loot of people give up on FFXIV because our language ins't supported, and a vast majority doesn't speak english, so I totally understand the value of allowing more players from around the world to enjoy this amazin game
Commenting my support for this initiative!
Let’s do it!! I’d love to experience the story again in my native language (especially Yotsuyu’s whole story
I'm a spanish player of that game and i have multiple friends that they don't want to play because the language is a big barrier for them, i enjoy the game but unfortunatelly i can't enjoy the history of the game for the main reason that read all and doing mental translation make me some tired so i have to see some summary in my language to understand the story and i want to enjoy the game too without see it in other site in my language so please translate that game into spanish i can't understant why its translated in french and german and spanish no when spanish its the second language most speaked in the world.
Please let's do it, I have a lot of friends who doesn't play due the language barrier :(
I would also love to hear Estinien on Spanish <3
Commenting my support for this thread. I think a Spanish localisation will reach so many new players. My partner's Mexican, and having Spanish translations will really help in understanding the story and gameplay. Please Square, I hope you will be able to eventually work towards this.
I haven't been able to invite any friends to the game due to most of them not speaking English proficently enough or just refusing to play a game which didn't consider our language important enough to make a translation. I did include myself in the last group for long even in spite of not having problems with english, and I'm here because a friend insisted me a lot and because there was a free trial. Now I LOVE this game and it has been the first game I have paid a suscription EVER, and I would make an alt to replay it again if there were a translation. But I haven't been able to bring anyone here, they just lose interest in the moment I mention that it is only in english.
Even if it would be true that people from Spain use to pay less for games, just the raw amount of spanish speakers in the world should be able to compensate it. We would be ok with a translation, but a voiced translation would be a great opportunity to show the game's message of "diversity of cultures should be not only respected, but celebrated", despite what many people say about needing to translate it twice to make happy both Spain and Latinoamerica.
Gridania and Ishgard - Northern Spanish
Ul'dah and Ala Mhigo - Both mexican spanish and andalusian would fit perfectly
Limsa Lominsa - Caribbean spanish or just another variety of south american spanish (given how often they swear, I would KILL for listening to them speaking argentinian)
Damn it, I would be extatic even if they only give spanish voices to Lominsian and Garlean characters to fit the evil-conqueror/thief-from-across-the-sea stereotypes and all other characters would have latinoamerican accents.
Pleaaaaase, Square Enix, make it happen.
I'd be amazing if we could have our beloved FFXIV translated into our native language! It really pains me when I try to recommend my favourite game to my friends and all I can say is "It's so good, but it doesn't have a Spanish translation!"
In Spain we have a large culture of having films, series, videogames and media translated into our language, so not many people have enough English skills to play it as it is now and it puts a huge barrier between Spanish FF fans and FFXIV.
Final Fantasy games always came to our country in our native language and FFXIV being one of the few exceptions, even after 10 years, it's so heartbroken.
Please consider this initiative. There are a lot of Warriors of Light willing to become Guerreros de la luz out there :)!
As a spanish speaker player is always sad that i have a tons of friends that or they don't give a try to this game or they just give up for the language barrier. I will be nice to open that wall and make a traslation to our native lenguage and give us another kind of expirience.
It's reassuring to get here so warm support. Reddit ended up a mess due to certain factors. (I can see one of them doing his thing here as well lol)
It is a wonderful initiative, but above all a NECESSARY one. I have recommended this game to many, many friends, and although a few have managed to overcome the barrier that the game is in English, the vast majority have ended up dropping it or simply have not even tried.
We are talking about a game of the Final Fantasy saga, it is absurd how all the games of the saga are today available in Spanish while this remains untranslated despite, as stated in the main post, has a large community of Spanish-speaking players.
Please, Square Enix and more specifically CBU3, snap out of it!, you are denying the game to be translated to the FOURTH most spoken language in the world, we are more than 548 million people who speak Spanish, it is almost twice as many people who speak French and almost five times more people than those who speak German.
Personally, English is not a problem for me, even so, I'd give anything to be able to enjoy this great game in my mothertongue, with words like “Artema” or “Piro”, words that I have grown up with as I loved this saga.
Hopefully this post will have the repercussion it deserves and Spanish speakers will be heard.
Yes please, I have been playing Final Fantasy XIV since 1.0 and it is what the game needs, we are a huge community of players; and new players would want to play the game if it were in Spanish!! Please do it S-E <3
I second that motion! / Yo apoyo la moción!
I can even volunteer to help with the translation/localisation efforts, due to, well, we are not only Latin American Spanish speakers here, but also Spanish (of Spain). I can volunteer for the Spanish - Americas one, count me in!
How exciting!
This would be lovely! Being from Chile, it's hard to find other english speaking people willing to give this game a shot, and I'd love to be able to share with more people in my immediate circles. It'd also be really nice if there was a consideration for a region of logical data centers based in LATAM so us south american players might get to play in lower latency, besides just how much a spanish localization would massively increase the accessibility of FFXIV!
If it means anything, this motivated me to finally make my profile on these forums. It'd be really nice to see resources directed towards this! I do believe that there's been rumblings of the possibility from Yoshida, but something more concrete would be nice. Thank you for pushing this initiative!
Representing the players from latin america, all the way from Panama. Let's make this happen! (Wouldn't mind a LatAm data center too)
Saludos Guerreros de la Luz
Me gustaria que algun dia, estuviera en español
Y que su historia sea mas conocida, pues creo que a toda la persona hispanohablante, le interesaria un juego asi
I support his wholeheartedly, even though it's text only and no VO (or using any of voices that already are in the game).
Despite English being one of the most taught languages in spanish territories, many has problems or outright grievances with it and this would help those people tremendously. This game has a lot of text and a lot to diggest in order to fully enjoy its story. I have friends that play this game and have some difficulty with English and I'm pretty confident that they would enjoy the story so much more if they could understand it better.
I get that this could be extremely hard to pull off, not from a statistical stand point (which has already been proven that, by sheer numbers, it would make sense to be translated to one of the most spoken langages and with such a large population as well) but from a financial one... Specially given the recent news about SE, that had to cancel a lot of games and took a massive financial loss.
However, I hold my hopes high. I hope for this game to be translated one day, to reach a lot more people that I know and, one day, show this game to my mother, someone who is not a gamer but would LOVE to see the story and music of this game (specially from the events of 4.3 onward~).
Something to fuel this hope is the fact that, even though our disposable is but a penny of the income of those who live in the U.S.A. or Europe, even though when converting our local currency to dollars may cause that even the payment of the subscriptions would be something to think twice about (Yes, to some of us, 12~15 USD can be a hefty amount to pay monthly)... The disposable income of the average Latinamerican has been slowly increasing over the years (with notable exceptions, of course...). I believe that we live in an age that the purchasing power is higher than ever before (again, with exceptions), many young adults can afford a mid range PC or Laptop if they save a couple of months, and I have seen many of them engaging in game where microtransactions are the norm and have expended a huge sum of money. This tells me that there is money that can be used and gain from SE if they decide to translate this game.
It would be a long term investment, maybe something that SE can't afford right now. But we have given enough reasons, in both numbers and support from the community, that it would be something worth doing.
We love this game, and nothing would make us happier than to share it with those who can't currently experince it.
I'm going to be completely honest: I always just assumed that Spanish was one of the standard localizations.
Make it real please, have a lot of friends that would enjoy it this way <3
I've been playing since 2.3, but if they translate the game I'll create a new character to play all the story again in order to fully understand it.
