[Graphical Update] Viera Nose

I honestly didn't even notice the bunny nose until it was pointed out. face four vieras noses would probably look better without the white thing since it makes the noses look more uptilted than what they are. Since I use nose 2 it doesnt bother me that much. But I can see that the other faces would be a bit less fun without it. So make the feature optional!

I agree. The bunny noses need to stay as they are.

I'm not a fan of the change, but I think for different reasons than many others commenting. I just don't like how dark the made the male's nose compared to his skin tone.

I really like the Viera nose as it is, with the lighter bit under the nose, I loved it on Fran when i played 12.
it's a unique feature, I hope it's not removed.

Having recently tried making Viera characters I absolutely agree their nose should stay as is (give it to Miqo'te too while you're at it), but one thing I think they could stand to remove is female Viera having insane amounts of make-up on just... by default, it's kind of ridiculous...

I don't play Viera, but the nose was something I always liked about their designs, so it really sticks out to me! I hope it's just an error or something.

As someone who occasionally plays as a female Viera nose was the one thing I didn't like. It just threw me off. I think many feel the same way based on conversation in-game with other players. I nthis pic tho the male Viera got their whole nose looking way darker (insert brown noser joke) and I'm not quite sure what's up with that. The female they used in the example is one of the rarest skin tones to be used, so I'm not quite sure why they chose to use it. We won't really know how good the improvements are til they release a benchmark , or when dt launches for us console people. I just hope the bungirls adjustments aren't covered by the super dark skin tone they used in this example lol

During the keynote it was explained that the darker skin tone was used to showcase the efforts they are making to improve how dark skinned characters look because in cutscenes with certain lighting you can barely see your character. When I am a male viera my skin tone isn't nearly as dark but I still have trouble seeing my character during cutscenes that take place at night with poor lighting. I believe the skin tone I have is more like the picture of the male there, or maybe a tad darker.

Save the Viera nose!

I concur please my Bunny nose I enjoy it a lot as a "POC" player it really fits with me and hope you take our concerns into consideration
I cannot have my Female Viera Nose not have her shape. if its an optional toggle then its perfectly fine with me , hopefully this can be addressed or clarified in live letter ♥

I hope so too; it's such a good feature and makes viera interesting - it helps darker tones stand out and gives a proper semi-beast race feel

Save Viera Noses! They need to stay!

i certainly wouldn't mind having a nice straight angular nose as a viera. but i don't see the harm in preserving the more flat bunny noses while also having other shapes available too

I've only read about the first 7 pages of this thread but I want to be another Viera player to cast my thoughts in on this, as I do main one. (Edit: I went back and read the rest of the thread)

For the Male Viera: I don't know if the graphics update preview showing Face 1 with the nose darken toggle is on or off, but I do not like how dark and shiney the male viera's nose is (in combination). It might be that his nose is pointy and all of these things added together do not scream "bunny" to me, it feels off. I feel if the graphics are to go the route of going darker they shouldn't be as shiney (because it looks wet or greasy), or the noses should be flat (like a bunny), or if they're to be pointy- it shouldn't be 7 shades darker than his skin tone. So maybe give us options, like a lighter to darker shade slider for the nose? I don't know how well to phrase this but it literally looks like the male bun took a smudge stick and rubbed it all over his nose. It doesn't match his skin tone in any way, and it immensely bothers me- to the point where I'm wondering if I want to remain male Viera for Dawntrail =/

For the Female Viera: I appreciate the display of showing dark skin tones but perhaps showing an additional example would have benefitted here? Like so many before, an option to keep the previous noses would be appreciated if the intent is to remove the bunny-type noses entirely. Which would be unfortunate because many people, like myself, love that and it's one of the many reasons we chose Viera to begin with. I'm struggling with the phrasing but finding a happy medium between the darker top of the nose, and the lighter bottom of the nose is what's going to make all of us happy. I think the best way to provide that is to give us a palette of colors based off our skin tone that we choose, a slider, or something among those lines /shrug

I made an account on the forum only to reply to this thread hoping the developers see it! Please keep our nose! It is my favourite thing about my race, it makes us look so much more like bunnies!

Watching the PLL and I honestly hope they took this feedback into consideration... Please save our noses!!!

I noticed the odd skin texture as well- they're shiny, like they have extremely over active pores or are covered in sweat- I'm not sure why the designers think this is a good option because skin isn't shiny & I hope it's not something we see all of the time but rather, when it rains.

I guess many people will be irked if their characters changes too much from original, mainly for those players playing for years with the same look.

Maybe it's to force people into playing hrothgar- they likely won't have the sweaty/ rubbery skin effect since they're covered in fur
But there wasn't enough of an excite over this, so everyone- it might be that oily skin is the new look in ffxiv

I don't think that is what they intended. Or why do you think anyone would be "Forced" to become a Hrothgar, they are an amazing race, very cute and fluffy.
But I do think it was because a majority of the footage was taken either at night or during rain/having a rain effect. the other Pictures they showed do not display "Oily skin". or it is not as noticable.

Probably, we will see soon. Dawntrail benchmark should have updated graphics already ;)
Did not finished endwalker yet (had few years pause from the game) but already hyped for the new expansion.

Because it's not oily skin, that's from the wet showcase, the skin is glistening wet, not oily.

As you can see in the pictures, these are two completely different characters in appearance: a different hair color, a different face shape, different eyes and different lips. The nose is also different, it looks more like an ordinary Hyurian.

Of course, I understand that the need for changes is long overdue, and that it is almost impossible to do as it is now due to technical changes. But you can't fool the feelings - you take my favorite character from me and give me some similar one in return. I'm upset.

I dont think Vieras needed changes at all. As one of newer races, these looks much better than other races graphically, also looks good in most ingame lighting settings. But agree, that older races needed the graphical uplift, specially hyur and lalas.
As for viera, in my opinion it is downgrade. Did not needed changes at all :)
My character also looks totally different, and no free fantasia will fix it. Cannot make her same in dawntrail benchmark because of limited char creation options

-eyes, -lips -makeup, everything looks slightly different and combined all together with new lighting engine it makes a totally different face
