Doesn’t sound like the tank was offering advice. You seem confused to what that poster is referencing. I’ve seen plenty of actually advice be received with a vote dismiss, the advice recipient logging out, someone else responding with “they are fine” or just straight up belligerence.

Okay, but how is that advice? It's not.

"You're doing a bad job because I had to use my big CD" is not advice and should not be conflated with advice. It's a MCS tank who has no idea how healing or tanking works.

Most of you guys don't even seem to understand what advice is.

Advice is not saying you're a crap player and need to get good. Advice is telling you how to be better. How to be more optimal.

No one's asking for ultimate level game play in DF. But if you immediately brush off advice without even trying or considering it because you think you know better?

I've had someone try to give me advice "as a former WHM main". And the advice was nonsensical. It happens. But I still did it for that run to appease them and then went right back to not doing it. Because it didn't matter. I wasn't going to sit there and argue with them to fluff my ego.

But I've also had someone tell me I was going to wind up in GM jail for saying "you don't need to LB Nero. With the time it takes and the amount of damage it does, it's better to just attack him" before the Prae rework. So let's not pretend people don't get hostile over nothing and everything is just because the advice giver is a jerk.

Im obviously talking about in casual content... of course you cant type and play in high end stuff, thats what discord is for. What im pointing out is that nobody really banters in 4man or casual things aside form typical dad humor or "soft" jokes to avoid offending anyone. I love talking s**t with people and enjoy when its dont to me in kind. The problem is you cant that in this game because everyone's skin is as thick as single ply tissue paper. Besides, once in "high end" content you are expected to bring your at most B+ game, so why is it when you have someone who's dead weight I cant call them out for it? If they d like it just leave and find 7 other people who don't mind wasting their time bashing their faces against a wall that cant be cleared until they are 80ilv. over the required amount. When I mess up and people call me out for it I don't get mad at them, only myself, and it makes me wanna do the mechanic all the harder to show I can. A chain is only as strong as the weakest link, and ff14 has alot of "weak" links that refuse to be reforged and made useful.

Precisely what I think.

I kept most of my torrents of $h!tting in my private CWLS consisting only my close friends, and barely speak in public. If I speak anything at all, it's usually out of courtesy like telling them I'm going to answer a call for a min, or because the party just wiped & I know exactly what wipes and how to deal with that. Hell I even remembered that I used to greet every parties with 'hellos' or even the '\o' wave emoji, but I'm slowly forgetting to do that more and more.

Advices only goes out if the person specifically asks for it or made a comment like "Healing X is hard..".

That sounds more like a $h!ttalk rather than an 'advice', which is entirely a different thing.

Everyone is happy and all in the Duty roulette, until you get The Chrysalis and a sprout dps uses Limit break 3 on Nabriales instead of the meteors, and fucking everyone freaking out like the sprout commited a capital offense.

Then the meteor phase comes and is a cakewalk even without LB3.

I only had three people that ever started to flip out on me over stupid BS. Yes, I was a new player at the time. No, I had never been in that instance before, in each case. And it wasn't extreme or savage or anything, was normal. I put them on ignore, and left them that way. If I want to deal with that kind of crap in normal content, I can go revisit WoW. I'm not putting up with it here.

EDIT: To be sure, I'll take *actual advice* said in a friendly manner. But if you're a dick about it, you'll be perma-ignored. I don't have time for that. I don't take that kind of crap at work, where they pay me, and I'm sure not going to do it here.

And some people wonder why I play mmo at all when im always playing solo. Well I love mmo games but I don´t feel like dealing with fragile people that are so full of hate and rage it´s a wonder they can even live a normal life. Yes I do the dungeons with random people but I never speak ever Im just quiet and do my job just the get it over with it. Some times I interact with people and the forums in hope that in some tiny part of this world there is some sane and normal people to talk with. But 90% of the time I don´t say anything becuse people lose their mind over anything. Like say pizza instead of kebab and some one will explode and tell you what an evil human you are goes on to tell you their life story on why pizza almost killed them and their entire family so pizza is evil.

And before you call me boomer. I´m a Millennial but we both are sick of todays over sanative hateful and ragefully generation it´s not our fault you never been loved don´t take it out on us take that out on your family and your shrink.

I'm some ways, I'm even worse. Gen X. We have no patience for the kind of shenanigans you're talking about. I will happily put someone on ignore permanently for being a dick, whatever the reason. I don't take that crap from people who are paying me, let alone in a game where I'm the one paying.

Fully understandable and reason why I don´t join guilds/FC´s in games becuse some how some one need to take out their bagged on the guild and it´s hard to be in a guild if you need to ignore all of them. Im paying square enix money to play a game unwind and have fun not to deal with any ones fragile mind or drama or their political views. I Wish people to keep their crap to them self. I just want to be entertained and get some escape from reality I don´t need that in the games.

You seem to be a little confused, I did not make the example myself. I think they also over estimated some people ability to read beyond the text and realize that in no one is actually going to follow someone, wait for them to stop and then get out of their own vehicle to reprimand someone for something as trivial as turn signal use, especially since there is very real risk of them retaliating in a very real manner that is not forum responses or text chat.

As to your actual question, "Why is this more and more common now?" - confirmation bias: It's not. You believe it is, so you notice every instance that supports your hypothesis and ignore all the cases that do not; and BEFORE you had this hypothesis, when this same sort of thing was happening, you weren't mentally logging it. So it seems there are more cases because you're mentally keyed to notice them now, when it's always been this way, you just didn't notice in the past. Moreover, people used not to be dicks about it. I had parties in HW, SB, etc where I taught people some Job mechanics and often got comms for it. It's not hard, you just have to use your words like an adult, not be a dick, and if possible, do it in non-public chats or without mentioning anyone, so it doesn't seem like you're calling anyone out.

For example "If you can keep your Damage over Time (DoT) spells up on bosses, it will up your damage on them. Stuff like Dia, Biolysis, Combust, Eukrasia Dosis, Chaos Thrust, Demolish, BLM Thunder 1/3, and so on" (used to be even easier when SMN had DoTs, since it had so many at one point, or when Healers had multiple). This way, you're talking in generalities so no one feels called out - and in turn, a need to either defend themselves or hide in shame.

This is just basic "How to appeal to people" 101, which sadly, most people don't have since most people now-a-days have the tact of a gorilla wrestling a rino. Don't attack people, be general so you don't seem to be calling out anyone in specific, if possible talk to a person in private instead of public, etc. A short, curt "do this" is kind of dickish and isn't even actionable. "Recitation + Indom"? That's not even great advice since Recitation has a longish CD and it seems like your party's DPS or the Tank's mitigation plan were too low/crap. Most content these days is easy enough Eos could heal it unless your Tank isn't using mitigation and/or your party is garbage tier DPS and your Tank is pulling too big for what they can bring down safely.

If you're dying due to "the healer", it's more likely the entire rest of the party is failing.

Well I mean people are blaming a the old generation of all the problems in the worlds. Oh it´s boomers fault I can´t afford a house and it´s Gen X fault the climate is fucked. But if some one complain that Gen z is a bunch of whiny over sensitive entitled brats then suddenly it´s wrong. You can not blame a whole generation for that well. Treat people as individuals and stop blaming an entire generation for FFXIV's, or any other problems in general. We're blaming everything but the actual problems with FFXIV that leads to people behaving poorly on this game.

Oh come on, dumbest thing? Dumber than an npc not being able to reject another npc because that first npc wasn't an 8/10 or higher?

Maybe the idea of this entire thread is 'fragile.' Using the examples given by the OP, why should it honestly matter? Someone can't heal, replace them. Someone QQs about not waiting, ignore them. All kind of easy counters instead of rushing to the forums to seek some kind of validation about it.
