Thanking you.
Oh yes, letting hrothgar and viera wear hats is a detriment to the game. Giving people extra accessibility options (for things such as colorblindness) is a detriment to the game. Letting people fix ping issues is a detriment to the game. Get off your high horse, your posts reek of "even though I have a narrow perspective on the matter I think everyone else should be punished because *I personally* don't like [subject matter]".
In what way do people changing the game's graphics to help them clear stuff due to disabilities or handicaps affect gameplay and degrade it in any way?
Or, I don't know, my race using mods to be able to use glamour options that you can use just because the devs decided they wouldn't make them for us?
I won't say modding is the future of gaming. And it's true that we shouldn't have mods if the game is done well. But unfortunately, this isn't a well-done game if people have to resort to them to be on the same level as everyone else. And it's stuff like this, takes like these, that I find narrow-minded. Like dropping a nuke to solve a tiny problem. "There won't be a problem if there's no topic about it at all", right?
Yes and no. I would not be opposed to it if they admitted they need to do more in the ways of dps meters/checks (Stone Sky Sea is garbage) also cut it out with the gigantic bosses that players feel that the current camera situation isn't enough.
Yes and no. I wouldn't mind an anticheat (as long as it's not annoying as fuck, like with lost ark where the anti cheat means the game takes like 5 minutes to actually open), but if they add one they need to add accessibility features to the game and fix the netcode. If people with high ping could play classes as intended (ninja mudras are an example for this), then they wouldn't have to use noclippy to just play at the same level as other people who happen to be living in a better location for ping. Additionally, I personally have bad vision and can't wear contacts or glasses for very long times (contacts burn my eyes, glasses give me a headache), and because I need them to drive and work, by the time I get home to play ffxiv wearing them is painful. There are plugins that do things like increase the size of debuffs or dots that mean I can (hypothetically) play the game without hunching over just to read the screen.
In this hypothetical situation, I herniated a disk in my neck partially because my posture while playing the game was messed up from trying to be able to read the numbers on my dots/buffs/etc, and now plugins are the only way I can (hypothetically) see stuff on the screen clearly. I know there are also issues for colorblind players, and some people have controller issues that require plugins to fix (or else they will randomly lose control of their characters, which makes content far more difficult). I'm not opposed to them going harder on plugins, because I think stuff like UAV super galactic zoom, splatoon, etc are bad for the game, but they need to give people qol changes for the issues with the game if they do so.
How about the mods that let you zoom out into infinity? How is it beneficial letting a mod auto-counter abilities in pvp or perform your rotation in ove? How about auto gathering mods or auto-mated market board selling?
You know what mods spurred this conversation, don't cherry pick addons no one cares about or can easily be implemented by SE if they choose it.
I mean you can apply this logic both ways. People claiming about overreach or negative performance tend to be the minority yet act like they are the consistent voice among populaces. Anti-Cheat software by and large has been acceptably used by many MMOs and while some implementations have been janky or ineffective others have been consistent and well done. There's probably more well done than not in the MMO market specifically, proven by the fact that many people even some in this thread, don't seem to recognize when this software has been installed in their games before, but most people don't talk about the successes here because it doesn't help paint the narrative they are forming.
I would be opposed to it because I can't count how many times I was thrown of of <insert game here> because Punkbuster flagged me for a false positive.
I've never installed ANY type of scanner/parser/cheat thing for any game.
oh so in normal talk-person speech, and not psyop talk " I use cheats, but I am gonna play word games to make it look like I don't and shift the blame onto people with cherry-picked statements to make them look bad by taking one small snippet of a large statement purposely out of context, meanwhile I use the same cheats the other cheaters use without saying it" that sums it up with you and other who play word games with others, this is not rocket science and normal people can see right through this BS....
The seething about parsers continues in this week's new form.
I think they are just trying to say that not all mods are bad or detrimental, which I fully agree with. Are they all against the ToS? Absolutely, and anyone using them is using them at their own risk. But perhaps SE should add some of these features themselves instead of outlawing them.
Make it easy.. throw in an anticheat and don't even announce it and see who gets busted, if they are clean no problem, if not buh bye...just end these silly childish word games they play on the forums to justify there actions...I personally don't care about privacy or your performance if it means everyone is on the same level...at this point because it goes to show you cannot be trusted, so why should everyone else suffer because of a small % of players who cheat and admit it on here with BS psyop word games be given any leeway they also bank on you screaming then 5 mins. later to walk away as if nothing happened and it's back to business as usual for them while everyone else has more rules to adhere to...
No more predictable than you and your modphobia.
Maybe if people are telling you what's going on, and the only thing you can present is rage-written drivel, then in my book you just told me who has a point and who's just needlessly angry.
If I happened to have a similar take to his, then it's because I agree on whatever page he's on. Sorry if it's not your page. You want another? Oh lookee here.
I agree with Vahlnir. This is also what I think.
I've said as much in the past. These tools shouldn't exist, and these QoL additions are definitely something SE should be mindful of. But they do, and they don't, so c'est la vie and I'm not going to be the one telling people who use them that they absolutely cannot use them. Especially not when, as I've told you, in fact... the lead producer outright stated there's a gray area. Sure, they're bannable and bad, there are reasons for it. But there are also reasons as to why he said there was a gray area.
Please learn how to speak to people with a modicum of respect and maybe take a few anger management classes, they do do wonders. Yours truly, someone who really has no patience for someone who put "legit players" and "losers" in the opening statement of their posts just because someone disagreed with them.
Because I've only ever seen you be pleasant to people you agree with. That's rather low and a sign that no one should waste their breaths on you.
I already have an anticheat on my game, its called PSN or playing on a console, lol.
From my point of view all mods are illegal and everyone using them should be banned, end of story.
If we are talking about qol improvements get a request put in, get enough of the community behind you and it will be added to the main game. And no, none of the options of act or whatever you guys/girls use will be added to the main game....
But I'm only a console peasent.
Cheat while you can soon enough you won't be able to play the game and I'll keep laughing ;)
Ah yes, visual mods and disability mods are "psyop word games."
I sure hope nobody related to you has any major disabilities. You seem like the type of person to scream at them to "get over it" when it comes to things like a crippled limb or visual cataracts.
I wish I were on his group to clear P3S, I'd likely get kicked out on the spot for struggling to see literally anything. Or for wiping to Kampeos Harma for a few times until I realized "Oh! There are squares and triangles!" whereas everyone was just referring to the mechanic by colour.
Bruh you are so delusional it's unreal. Instead of making up bullcrap about people, maybe actually read what they're saying for once. The only one playing "wordgames" is you with the way you're just making up bullcrap about people. Not once have I defended cheating, despite what you keep saying about me in these threads.
The person I replied to said a generalized statement of "modders are a detriment to the game". Responding with examples countering that claim is not wordplay or cherry picking, no matter how much you dislike it. Grow up.
Freaking LOL. Bro, just because you don't like something doesn't mean you can just say "that's not true because I said so".
There is no reason whatsoever to use mods, if you need a feature or qol, put in a request to square, any and all mods are banned, it doesn't matter what they are or not, they re banned and so should be everyone using them
Modphobia HA HA HA... hah the only phobia I have is from the BS word psyop game you are trying to do and fail at... MODPHOBIA??? HA HA HA HA oh that is a good one...It's called not being a cheater unlike you who just admitted without having to say it openly...you just admitted you use cheats and mods without actually saying it outright XD... Modphobia is a made-up word to try to cover your tracks as I tried to find an actual definition...
LOL Riiiiiiiiight. Explain why things like COLORBLIND ACCESSIBILITY hasn't been fixed yet, considering people have been asking for it for years. Square is SO INCREDIBLY SLOW with these additions the fact that you think it'll just get solved by asking is laughable.
Man, at least other anti-mod people in the thread have decent stances. You two are just hurting your own side lol.
EDIT: Actually, after your last post, I'm convinced you're just trolling at this point. It's actually obvious looking back.
Making things up based on nothing isn't "cutting through" what I and others have said lol. Nice try though. I'm done with you and your trolling. Even if you're not trolling, you bring nothing of value to this discussion because you literally have nothing to say but attacking people and making crap up. You converse like a child who isn't getting his way, and I'm not reducing myself to your level and continuing to shit up this thread with this stupid conversation anymore.
Today I learned me being colourblind and needing shaders for this game means I'm secretly cheating to get an advantage over any raider!
And yet I still didn't clear P3S 'cause I suck!

The amount of BS i see from people on the threat to justify cheating is mindboggling and no one is buying it anymore...
People did that. We've been asking for years to have buff timers and damage types displayed. The last time someone brought up the latter, Yoshida gave a long winded excuse why it wasn't possible. Funny how after a plug showed it was quite possible they suddenly found the time to implement it into the game.
As for ACT. People want a way to track their damage, especially with a game design centered around enrages. Otherwise, we have no means of determining what want wrong or who's struggling with DPS. Not to mention, FFlogs gives life to the raid scene by essentially being a leadership board. Without it, BiS is literally meaningless unless an Ultimate is scheduled. Come 6.4, who cares about getting Savage BiS when none of the content released will ever demand anything remotely close to it? Parsing is what keeps people playing. They might not parse at a competitive level but it's still an individual achievement for a decent amount of raiders.
Considering "cheats" like ACT have been around for nearly a decade. I doubt very much people are worried about it.
Japan has several laws that would prevent them from doing so even if they were so-inclined. Beyond that? Yes, yes I would mind. Anything designed to detect addons and the like would need to be unacceptably invasive. Moreover, while I don't have any need for them regardless, the vast majority of addons and third-party tools utilized by the playerbase are completely harmless. Barring someone just outright hacking (which the gil sellers seem able to do with impunity, though their activities do require a lot more than mere mods or harmless tools), nothing third-party tools do should be of any consequence to anyone.
Killing ACT will kill the raid community. Killing textools and similar things will kill the lion's share of the RP community, and it will take a sizeable chunk out of the general playerbase as well. There are plenty of hills out there to die on, but anti-mod sentiment is not one of them. They are the reason the game has lasted as long as it has, and eliminating them will not do it any favors.
