PvP players have more fun across the patches that you will ever have with scripted PvE. So no, its the LEAST waste of time because of replayability.

The whole point of the rewards is to lure people who otherwise wouldn't play PvP. You should be complaining to SE to make them stop locking things behind PvP that have no business being there. If they were all PvP focused rewards like the bland GC horses then maybe you'd have a point, but instead you earn a linkshell emote from playing a mode where you can't use your linkshell.

Looking at the PvP achievements rewards I kinda like the lord commander set and want to get it just to glam it and demand people bring me Mooncake... but I dun want to actually play the matches required to get it all... lol

It was kinda annoying grind, I did it recently. Supposedly it and other achievements were much easier to get back in the day when you could just setup a full premade in the least popular GC at the time and roll people over until you got the rewards.

That's exactly the kind of thing I mean. In four years I've only got two pieces of that set. PvP just isn't fun enough to justify the grind.

I will say as a 1.0 player, it's absolutely baffling to me how stubborn SE is about making pvp rewards permanently unobtainable. I don't even understand the logic. If a new player sees a pvp set they're interested in and asks about it, especially one of the older feast rewards, how is that player motivated to try pvp if the answer they get is "It's from pvp. ...you can't get it anymore"

I bring up me being a legacy player because I don't hold attachments to items, I hold attachments to the memories attached to those items. So in my opinion, I'd be perfectly cool with them making all sorts of legacy items available again (and they even did that once with manderville earrings and white ravens), it wouldn't effect me at all because I could still reminisce about my time playing 1.0.

I think replica items would be a fine solution to both legacy and old pvp rewards. There's really no reason to keep these items exclusive because all it does is disenfranchise newer players imo

Are you sure? the PVP section is nothing but people bitching about pvp. Everyone I talk to talks about how unabalnced and unfun it is.

If PVP was so fun Square Enix wouldn't need to resort to things like a hilariously bloated daily roulete for PvE exp, or locking rewards behind a malicious FOMO battle pass system just to get people to play their bootleg overwatch mode.

I guarantee you, if Frontlines wasn't a free daily alt-job level, no one would touch it. If that daily didn't exist, those matches wouldn't even fill.

In regards to ppl complaining about pvp balance. PvP will never be balanced unless there is only 1 character with 1 loadout and skill set that every person has to use.

Oh, that's just the game in general. Can't have one class/job do a bit better in a particular fight, then everyone will *stares at the logs showing how a mobile class did a bit better than a casting class in a fight that makes you move around a lot* then everyone will get mad! lol

In regards to the PvE balance the issue is how much they essentially dumbed down the system by stripping nearly every normal RPG mechanic from the game making every enemy just a pool of HP that takes the same amount of damage from anything outside of a handful of very specific circumstances. Where as their older MMO FFXI didn't focus on job balance as much because the enemies carried different weaknesses, resistances, immunities, absorption, etc resulting in an environment where each job had it's own opportunities to shine in content.

Welp, the grind to get the current Series rewards is done, give us more SQEX.

The problem with pvp is not that people only do it for the rewards. If ultimates gave no rewards how many people do you think would attemp it?

Just about every piece of content needs to incentivize participation, so yeah, this isn't really anything new or a problem in and of itself. That's just how people operate. If there's nothing in it for them, they will usually not take part.
