Still waiting on Ephemeral Necromancer glams, or FF5 Necro glams...

I like how reaper has a lot of the little annoyance of every other melee into one job
like plentiful harvest is brotherhood hood lite
has cast time like samurai
got its own version of heavy thrust
once you proc your potisionals its use them or lose them like mudras
but it all flows well that its not so bad
Yeahhhhh, Necromancer isn't that appealing of an idea because of all the missing skills, Lone Hero wasn't that bad on GnB because the core gameplay was there minus a skill or two, but I can't see myself trying to solo PoTD because it'll be boring missing so many skills not to mention it's more of a time sink with double the floors
That being said, I hope they release a new deep dungeon this expansion, I'd be kind of excited to try for the solo clear title on PLD or WAR
Reaper is still incredibly strong in PotD it has some super fast kills on 180-190 boss
I think the Death Scythe is probably the best looking weapon for Reaper right now particularly because the hit sparks match very well in Enshroud form. And it's rather meaty to look at.
I was hoping the Moonward Scythe would be neat but it has the same problem most other Scythes have which is the blades are just paper thin.
I'm really hoping the relic scythe is going to be Zenos big Scythe. That one is really cool.
Demon Slicer, Blackbosom, Death are the only ones I like. The rest are easily forgettable.
Chainsaw Scythes lose their novelty really quickly.
Between the chainsaw scythe and the chainsaw greatsword, Haseo glams are looking real feasible right now.
Is it bad that i wish Ultros was our voidsent buddy?
Also do wish there was a more plain scythe and a dyable version of the starter one.
The lvl 80 gear is actually undyable save for the weapon. Kinda shitty imo. Unless I am misinformed that is the way it is.
I'm close to level 90 (currently 89) and I have to say I love this job. I only play melee casually (I am a caster main), but I'm thinking of trying RPR in EX/Savage because it is a lot of fun. I usually enjoy oGCDs and weaving so it is a bit suprising to love Reaper, but I also love resource-based jobs and flexibility, so...
A shield for light self mitigation that also has party utility once broken, rewarding you for proper timing? Great. A party buff whose effects you can feel without ACT? Awesome. Only Soulsow feels a bit out of place, but I don't mind it.
The biggest issue of the jobs is that it is awful when level synced, but I don't mind playing it only at level 90 (or at least EW content). After they ruined SMN for me, I feel like RPR is filling the void I got from SMN rework, somehow.
Aesthetic, animations and sound effects are also top notch.
My opinions on Reaper are just “meh” tbh then again I’ve only been toying with it in small amounts
Firstly why doesn’t it’s 1-2-3 have any positional enhancement? Effectively being tied for most boring rotation along with MCH? DRG does MNK does NIN & SAM splits. It comes off as pretty shallow more so since RPR kit is super shallow and condensed (not as much as some ranged but I’m sure no other job has skills they get at lv55 or 65 due to lack of skills)
Maybe it’s a severe late bloomer but the job itself is rather unidentifiable
50-60 is boring and lackluster but 70 changes the whole job. You do a massive 180 in playstyle. Further enhanced by Shroud. 50-60 makes you a bad player lemme tell you.
With regards to scythe design, I do wish they had been able to include something like a double-scythe, although just going by certain stances and attacks reaper does, it doesn't seem like it'd fit right.
I hope the devs bring down the combo spread with so many combos to maintain and position requirements added on top of that. Maybe they could remove the positional requirements or perhaps merge the some of the combos into one key press like the solo instance we have.
It’ll be a long time before I’m lv90 on a job I don’t intend to main, but look forward to the full analysis, just wish it was so bare bone for a large portion of the content. Guess that’s the evil of these late as hell jobs in expansions, wonder how bad the lv80 jobs will be
So does anyone else not like how Reaper sprints when their weapon is drawn? It looks like you got a square gait going. small gripe but still.
They will in the future, having to focus so much attention on the skills hot bar and not watching the action is overwhelming. When using AOE cone attacks forces you to stop your rotation and move in position just to hit all targets. I think removing the positional requirements would welcome even more people to the class.
It's almost like the game has 2.5s GCD exactly for that..? Reaper needs "streamlining" the least of all, you even have full control when to proc your positionals unlike every single other melee class.
Honestly between that and stuff like "Dark Knight delirium needs to be even simpler!" I'm not sure if you are a troll or not.
I'll be a BLM player til I die but I really enjoyed leveling Reaper to do the melee DPS role quests with and am sure to at least take it for a spin through occasional EXDRs and such. It's a very fun and well-designed job, and it's interesting to see how varied the experience can be given that there isn't a single randomized element anywhere in the kit.
I like RPR because it starts at level 70 and is the fastest way for me to get the Melee DPS Role Questline done.
I planned to stick with Red Mage this expansion but Reaper is so much fun and does so much more damage. I'm normally not a fan of melees. Although I did like Samurai due to it being simple.
I don't know if anyone addressed this yet, I went a few pages after and didn't see it quoted. The barrier with adding it to the job gauge is the fact that it isn't a self buff, but a debuff on what we're targeting. I don't quite know how their in-game engine works, but it's possible that they can't base UI elements on what we're targeting.
I do think it'd be nice, but I don't know if doable.
