You keep saying that tanking is a hard role but you don't present any information to actually back up your statement. What makes it harder?

I'm still new to the game and new to tanking. I hate just running thru everything. I go at my speed, I'm sorry if it's too slow for some people. you are welcome to run ahead and pull the whole dungeon. But when you die don't complain, I'm going as fast as I can handle. Not everyone has the same skill set, Sorry I'm not as good as you, But I will do the best I can.

And that's alright! Them dying is a clear sign to them that you can't handle what they are doing. But if no one dies from it then there's no harm.

Then they shouldn't be doing the Tank's job. The Tank pulls what they are comfortable with. If the group doesn't agree then they can leave or be a Tank themselves. How is it fair that THEY get to dictate how a Tank is supposed to Tank yet all the responsibility and blame falls on the Tank?

It's simple. People are afraid to Tank because they have seen toxic DPS so blatantly disrespect Tanks and cause wipes while it all falls on the Tank for not adjusting to the standards the DPS sets even if the Tank isn't ready for said standards yet.

So yes. It is extremely rude in Randos for a DPS to decide that they know better than the Tank and force the Tank to play how THEY want instead of letting the Tank tank at a level they're confident with.

Let the Tank tank - don't force a Tank to fall under a standard that the DPS believes is best. It isn't fair to the Tank. If the DPS isn't satisfied with the Tanks performance then they have options such as leaving and taking that penalty and 10-15 minute queue.

You tank at a pace that you're comfortable with. If you don't think you can handle w2w then don't. A wipe takes far more time then a non-wipe.

So did you forget what you were arguing about with me? You are literally just helping my case here. You were arguing that tanks were hard to play and you've yet to present something that actually helps your argument. Talking purely game wise here. Take out the outside pressure of other people, what makes tanking hard?
I think you are getting way too heated over defending all your points. It's ok to admit to being wrong on some things.

god please no, you want someone unwilling to press 1 to 2 buttons to grab aggro to play a class that requires more effort? you're crazy! they might have to switch between single target and AoE abilities depending on the size of the pull, not to mention keeping track of their buffs so that they don't waste their dmg up on 2 enemies right before a boss!

It can't be helped, there will sometimes be someone or two going ahead to pull more mob packs, it's not that big a deal to work around or work with.

You can play this little game I do when say another DPS or sometimes Healer even runs ahead to aggro more mob packs: Just stack on top of them and go with the flow spamming AOE Combos to hold aggro. I don't think most players are trying to personally screw with you, they just want to finish fast.

Hell, you can have some fun too like sometimes I would run back and forth through the mobs or boss and occasionally trying to get them to do AOEs or Line attacks at other players' directions for laughs. Get the mobs or bosses to spaz out and keep changing directions 180 degrees at a time. Some days I might pick a player who I will stack on top of exclusively and just follow them around with aggro spamming /hug

No harm done in the end, we finish this like comrades, bosom buddies and lovers.

You can always tell everyone you're intoxicated, drunk tanking and your other hand is doing something else if you don't want to go too fast.

Then I suggest you tank then if you have such little respect for the role. I'm sure with some tanking under your belt that you'll understand why the tank sets the tempo and not the DPS and learn to respect the most demanding role and why most players refuse to do the role. Especially when those like you exist who have zero respect for the role. There's a reason DPS have 10-15m+ queue times and Tanks are near instant. So saying they're not more important is wrong. A DPS can be replaced near instantly, a tank cannot and with your toxic views I would be surprised if any tank wants to stick around in your group.

No I'm the healer that will let your ass die if you are rude or not doing your job. Thats what I am. I have more power to let you live or die then you do over me btw so there is that also. I'm not saying its my way or the highway, but again you are part of a group, you are not the boss of the group.

It's not so much DPS vs. Tanks. It's people who have run dungeons for a longtime vs. those who haven't made it into Stormblood (or on a free trial and can't proceed anyways).

I miss the days when tanking required more than one braincell. These tanks complaining about toxicity of dps and healers pulling would have been eaten alive in the HW era. Furthermore, if you are not pulling to the wall as a tank you should not be tanking or proclaiming yourself the pace setter because to do anything other than pushing to the wall and to the limit is cowardice and disrespectful of your group and the role. In short get good, or stop.

I never called for FC Backup. My lover IRL was hearing my complaints, and decided to make a post for the first time. This was a surprise to me when I first saw it. It got upvoted, by people not in our guild. One person made a comment that surprised me, now you accuse nearly 100 people of mass reporting.

I told our guild for the first time, "They are blaming our entire FC". One person decided to post here in response.

If I was able to mass-report I would at least get a quarter of them and have over 25 upvotes. We've had a total of 3 people from our FC post here. Two being me and my lover, and another person freaking out after people started to shit talk our FC.

Our guild has been trading hands between ownership for over 6 months. There's a reason most of the derogatory comments against me and my FC have been removed. What many of you are doing is unfounded accusations. If you hate me that's fine, why do have to accuse nearly 100 other players of being involved in this as well?

It's still the same thing, you can't judge someone by their join date. I'm not sure who Silliv is in our FC. No one wants to take control of the ownership of the FC.

they compared everyone who rushed, or didn't wait, to untrained dogs without impulse controls, which a trained dog can suppress and thus, as worse as the average pet

I wouldn't report people for disagreeing with me on a forum, but that's just me. I only report posts if they insult someone else or me, which not a single of the posts that got deleted did, they were all civil, unlike dog's and your partners post

Just gonna say this. I've made my beliefs known PLENTY of times so I'll pop that in a spoiler since it's unnecessary for the point I am about to make:

I'm a big puller. I pull wall-to-wall unless my healer asks for me to slow down (to which I WILL). I also wait for everyone to be out of cutscenes before I start attacking the boss - regardless of whether or not one person has pulled. It doesn't matter my role in the party, whether I'm tank, healer, or DPS. I don't do so to feel superior to anyone, to shove politeness down peoples throats, what have you. I just feel it is only fair and polite to allow everyone the same luxury I had - to watch cutscenes without feeling pressured. It doesn't matter if the cutscene is just 10 seconds of the boss jumping into the arena. When someone's new, they don't know that for certain - especially considering the game likes to throw oddball dungeons where the cutscene IS important to the plot/drives the plot forward in some way shape or form.

HOWEVER, and this is a HUGE however: People who pull are not less than. They're not dogs, they're not dumb. The action they've done may be rude, and they may or may not be a rude person outside of that (I don't know them) but that doesn't make them less than me. For the same reason I pull w2w, they pull when someones still in a cutscene - they want to get out as fast as possible. That doesn't make them a horrible person. That doesn't make me a BETTER person. This whole moral grandstanding going on here just shows who the truly horrible people are - those who look at someone who pulled ahead and instead of understanding that they just want to get out ASAP, deciding that they're an immoral PoS, etc etc.

Get off your high horse, you're no better than anyone else.

Also stop bringing others in to repeat your points. You know who you are.

Actually, during a cutscene in a dungeon you can hear boss abilities and stuff going off which will ruin the immersion. Not only can they hear this stuff going off, but it will put pressure on them to skip the cutscene, which is frankly rude.

I'm not going to let someone who pulled early die, I'll pull off them, but I will think what a rude individual that person is. When people from Japan say Westerners are selfish individuals, I think this is just one of many examples proving them right.

All I have to say is please treat others as human beings, not as nuisances that should be abused because they are a minor inconvenience.

This 1000%. I love sprouts in cutscenes, I hate skipping to the end but understand why we don't do 100% clears. My biggest fear with all the new blood from that other MMO is their system of jump up walls to skip mobs might end up happening here, which always annoyed me when I played that game.

I had an account in 1.0 played for a week or two. But I don't count that as actually playing FFXIV, hell I lost that account when I came back in 2015 because the log in was tied to a Email for Road Runner Internet, and I stopped using .RR.Com by then. .... Sorry 2cents.
