There should be other ways to obtain the Field notes.

I got my mount 3 days ago after living in Zadnor for almost 2 weeks. I said living cuz I'm jobless at the moment so I play 10 hours plus every day.
I don't think I'd get it this soon if I still had a job and can only play 2 hours per day.

It's sad because I really love the lore in those notes. It has so much life in it. I still think there should be some sort of pity system or an alternative to obtaining the notes.
The experience is rather excruciating I can't log in to the game for days. o(><；)oo

Could they just increase the drop rate more? The times I've always done either CLL or Sart- noone gets the notes of 30+ people, because most people are eager to show off when they do to rub it in other's faces. And iirc, the drop % was increased, but likely by a small margin that made no difference than from before.

It mightaswell be 0 with how my luck is with his notes. His first and second notes are all I need and I'm pretty sure they don't exist in Castrum or Dalriada. I guess it makes me feel slightly better though that I'm far from alone on this one.

You will get it, your luck seems to be like mine, terrible- it will just take longer for us than most and it sucks bc we are stuck in limbo- idk about you but this is the opposite of fun and rewarding and I already have 1 foot out the door on giving up.

I thought about giving up, but then decided to settle on only running them for the weekly. I get my chances, I get some coins and then I can forget about it until the next reset.

Don't give up, I'm still trying to get his notes #17 from castrum- I absolutely despise Bozja- I don't do any other skirmishes or CE's & just sit for Castrum- I say that because I'm pointing out a huge flaw in this design & all of this feels like a waste of time BUT each run is a step closer to the moment you'll get it. So, keep at it!

I spent 7 years running the same raid in WoW trying to get a rare mount before I actually succeeded. I'm stubborn like that. lol Sometimes it just takes me a bit to come up with a more ideal plan if I get frustrated. Just needed to take a step back and evaluate my options. And thanks! Kinda just...came together on the character creator. Wanted him to look tough but also like he's seen some things, even though I had to paint his eyebrows on.

I'm 6 days now on just Dyunbu my morale is effectively zero and I spend more time afk then trying to do anything , like the mettle returns in the southern front or so awful I feel as if I'm making no progress. It's so crushing I just want it to end Dyunbu will not give me mercy.

I've never posted on these forums. I generally don't engage with topics, but I have to with this one. I am disabled, about the only thing I can do is sit in order to not be in pain. I've spent the better part of two weeks farming for the last note i need in the southern front, Sart. I have spent about 12 hours a day farming the three fates that drop the note and out of all the groups, out of all the people I've met, out of everything, I have NEVER seen the note drop. I am literally wasting my time in the southern front as the mettle is crap, the lockboxes are crap, the duels literally just one shot you, and the gear is completely worthless to me. I have several STACKS of 999 coins and absolutely nothing to use them on. Every single death sets me back about 10 fates worth of Southern Front fates. THERE IS NO REASON FOR ME TO BE HERE EXCEPT FOR THIS SINGLE ITEM.

This is literal insanity and I am done playing this game. I can understand a grind. I can understand farming something in this game - knowing you're getting close to your reward. I've beaten Sart's stupid face in so many times why the heck can't I write up my own lore notes about him? This isn't the reason I have decided to stop playing for a time, but it is one of the many that have piled up. I am so sick and tired of these lazy RNG designs in these games simply to keep people playing content that honestly sucks, and they know it sucks.

I finally got her notes from "For absent friends" I ran bozja for hours each day for more than a week, it wasn't quite 2 weeks- then it finally dropped for me
I only ran her skirmishes & ignored all others- that's how abysmal her drop is
It will eventually drop- just ignore all other skirmishes except hers & make sure that there isn't any ! icons for skirmishes, go pop those & let them fail, run back to dyunbu locations are- preferably near the crystals so you can teleport if need me

Day 16 since patch release. Spent over 4 hours a day on average in Southern Front doing nothing but trying to spawn "For absent friend" fate chains. Got it about 3 times a day. Scare to go into Castrum in case i miss it.

I liked the Bozja lore and places (Zadnor and Southern Front), now it looks to me like a daily compulsory punishment.

No Sartauvoir note ... i'm standing at 49/50. I'm exhausted

I have every single note except for Menenius now. What I'm not looking forward to is the fact that because its the same chest as Lyon part II, I believe that Lyon part II can STILL DROP. It is possible I might get multiple Lyons before I get Menenius..

I really wish at the least that they had made TWO chests for that fight, giving each chest a different note drop. That way you at least will eventually get it no matter what, even if it takes a little time. I could get the wrong field note, much to my dismay..

Another good solution would to be able to trade in an extra Lyon for a Menenius note at the historian.. It would be fair to trade one for the other after all.

I only need Lyon II and get my third Menenius today. Imagine turning in a Menenius for a lockbox. *edit. I am on 6 Menenius now. I think I need a break from FFXIV. It's ruined for me.

I fully understand you. I have been chasing Lyon I and II with no success for too long. And I burnt myself out in Delubrum (my bad). Now I just dont feel like doing anything, tbh. I know it's not a good attitude to play a game, so I am taking it very easy, logging in here and there until my sub runs out. Maybe by then I will feel some motivation again, we will see.

I stopped the game and I resumed for a month and I think already stopped when I see the drop rates of the notes on bozja I made at least 200 times the random for the 11 notes I am desperate. you have to be stupid to put drop rates so low

the farm is uninteresting we are in the stupid farm like I had never seen it in final fantasy.

Dear SE,

I entered Southern front for my daily punishment in order to get my last note from Sartauvoir. Someone told me the fate chain hasn't pop for nearly 1 hour so i was hopeful to spawn it in a reasonable time.
We killed literally a gazillion scorpion, clear the fates around like no camping here, had the 2 others duel chain done and we waited and see all the other CE come and go

My timer run out and i haven't seen the "for absent Friend" chain during the 3 hours !

I'm far past furious, i'm starving and i wasted 3 hours

Do something please, exchange note against coin or even against x amount of run of castrum or dalriada .. anything rather than this time wasting rng upon rng

I'm tentatively hoping that the drop rate might be adjusted when the next patch goes live. The RNG is definitely annoying, though - I don't necessarily mind low drop rates but it's particularly irritating when there's multiple layers of RNG such as Lyon's and Menenius' notes being tied to the same chest.

It's been a week that I've missed note 11 a guy from the guild he was missing 8 different notes 3 days ago he just finished everything, it's a completely ungrateful, stupid and unfair farm.

Dabog 2 my last one for over a week now. Done those fates more times than I can count. Literally log in do supersoldier, check if Hyper is being farmed and wait or leave if it isn’t and try new instance. Wait for supersoldier and repeat. I can do about 4/5 fates in an hour this way. I’ve probably done about 50+ in the time I’ve had to me this week. Still no luck. I could do the trial but I’m not good enough for that. So the fight goes on.

That which ruins my mood is the feeling of running a hamster wheel. You are not progressing towards your goal (you cannot gather a certain amounts of coins for it; more mettle or valor or running the raid\squirmish\CE more and more times don't increase your chances to get the note you need. It's just luck, and if you have bad luck... This might be a system reminiscent of old MMOs, but that doesn't make it enjoyable.

I dont mind grinding as long as Im progressing but this is awful game design. If you are aiming for me to hate this zone then you win. over 90 times in castrum with no lyon note. If I ever get it if you want me to go back into this hellhole better add timeworn artifacts to castrum

It's a pretty nasty note and doesn't have the rewards for running it unless you need loathsome. The metal awarded for Castrum for those in Zadnor is a joke and what is earned there sure isn't going to help with buffs. At least the Saunion & Dawon Chest drops although rare have metal awarded by running Dal to help progress your character strength which many are doing even if they don't need the notes.

This is really just a tedious exercise of having to deal with RNG with little reward and lots of frustration. I have some characters with the note and others without. I'd rather sit and help spawn FoF for note 12 and 14 then run Castrum.

A friend and I are actually in Southern waiting on Castrum simply because we need note 17.

Stuck in Bozjan Southern Front for days just trying to get field note 14 and nothing else. So far I got nothing.

I don't feel any progress- I am missing 3 notes overall, but I'm stuck on lyon and sart since the 3rd is in zadnor and i decided to stick to the map that still has the most i need. i have to admit- i do not feel as if im making any progress or working toward something because it is relying on the chance i get lucky. I have 17 dyunbu notes, 4 dabog and several stacks of red memories and countless coins. There should be a way to obtain required notes via something to actually work toward.

This tbh. It's really annoying. I'm still missing many notes myself, and I think while I'm in the front for notes (and weekly castrum) might as well grind ALL fates and get some memories out of it. But there are always 10000 people camping the notes fates, so if you don't camp as well, or at least only do fates super closeby, you're gonna miss the notes fates. So instead of using the wait time to advance other relics you're ust standing there waiting and doing nothing and gaining nothing. And then the notes fates spawn and ofc you get nothing there too. Honestly I even refuse to invest too much time on these notes as of now, apart from the weekly time while waiting for CLL to spawn, cause it's ust a frustrating experience with nothing gained at all.

My last note 14 from For Steel & Flame its more than a week now and i´m so tiered of this. I really like farming and grinding for things but this is awful :( and so many players are annoyed of this too, keep Content alive ist one thing and i understand that but pls show mercy and higher the droprate or buy it from coins or whatever.

I am down to just 8 but the three from southern front I need have not dropped. I have been trying since it has came out.

Agreed. Maybe an NPC can vendor the Field Notes for the zone's highest currency coin (of varied prices, pending rarity) when the content is already several patches old, just like the extreme trial mount model...

i usually grind relic farming for chill time but this note drop is taking me half a month that it destroy my will to play at all lol
(and yes not drop yet) unlike dr you can progress trough coin and see it where will you end, but this is a bad stretch that i literally login to just afk, because knowing it won't drop if I'd tried, plus you gotta wait for it to pop

Should have add the Field Note trade with mettle or coins to those historian dudes.

fate grind like Yokai level is acceptable because the fate is frequent all over the place unlike this, you'll spend longer waiting than the actual fate, it become less of a grind more like tedious waiting for low spawn fate that may drop something

Some dark tales say that, centuries later, she was still trying to get Lyon I and II from the ruins of Castrum and Dalriada...

The two I need come from dates at opposite ends of the zone, and if I'm not sitting at an aetheryte stalking my map constantly, odds are I'm just flat not gonna make it in time to actually get gold if it's the one across the zone that spawns

Actually, i had 6 Dyunbu note drop while working to get my Sartauvoir note which, after well over 70 hours wasted in the Southern Front, i still don't have.

Please, make the notes obtainable with an exchange or any number of objective you can fancy but don't leave it down to layers of random

Sartauvoir's note refuses to drop for me, which I wouldn't mind as much if his FATE wasn't so much of a hassle to pop. Sometimes I'll get lucky and it'll spawn fairly quickly, other times I will be killing scorpions and clearing out other zone 3 FATES for close to two hours before it happens (other FATES seem to have no issue appearing consistently though). His are the last notes I need in Southern Front, and I'm at the point where the mettle gains are absolutely abysmal at my rank so it feels I am receiving nothing for my wasted effort. I understand that the duel has a 100% drop rate for the notes, but if I wasn't worried about making a fool out of myself in front of potentially dozens of onlookers I wouldn't be here (also there's something wrong if you're basically required to cheese to win.)
I think there truly needs to be a "safety net" here where you can exchange coins for notes. Heck, they even have the system in place for the DUELS where if you don't get picked your chances are increased for next time. Even if it's for 999 platinum coins, it's something. You know for sure that if you put in the time and effort, you will get them in the end.

I wish this for atleast Sartavoir and Dabog at the very minimum. Ive farmed for hours nearly every day to pop 'For Absent Friends' and everytime nothing! I wind up with nothing to show for it.
I would gladly turn in 999 bozjan coins for it, or 200 Clusters or something...
