Minor Gripes You'd Like To See Changed or Fixed: A Thread

Honestly, grinds my gears so much that our drawn weapon idle poses are gender-locked. I see absolutely no reason why they can't allow both female and male options on our characters regardless of their gender.

Example: I love Dark Knight. I love the gigantic greatswords. I HATE that I never get to see the tip because when it's drawn, I am forced into the idle pose where I stick it into the ground. The male Idle pose is excellent.

I know theyre getting *better* about this with equipment and allowing stuff to be worn by both genders, but it just feels like a weird Japanese cultural hold-over where females *must* have different poses. Maybe that's not the case, but it irks me nonetheless.

I feel the same, but opposite in regard to the DRK pose. I love the female idle pose for DRK, it's wicked cool and I'd love to be able to see it on my male miqo.

They honestly just need to do away with genderlocks entirely, imo. It's probably the biggest "minor" gripe I have. I agree that it's a relic from Japanese culture where the female and male characters HAVE to have these distinct differences but like... there's a huge spectrum in between to be explored and I think FFXIV and mmo content in general can only benefit from removing the barriers and allowing players to just go hog wild in character creation. Granted, there was a discussion on another forum post about adding in gender-neutral pronouns and as much as I'd love to see it, I can readily admit that poses far more a significant challenge (voice acting dialogue not the least of which) than just removing gender locks. They're taking baby steps on the right path, I just hope that it continues to get better, and get better faster.

Only gripe I can really think of is Glam dresser slots. 400 was not nearly enough and I had it immediately filled to it's max capacity the day it was increased. At the very least give us additional free retainers especially if you are going to continue to do events similar to the Yokai one, I had to store all 17 weapons in one of my retainers which is taking up space I'd rather save for crafting materials.

Yokai Event weapons are one of the few things you CAN store in the armoire.... which is another beast entirely. But yeah, go free up 17 retainer slots and put those babies in the armoire!!!

I now want the glamour UI to have the option to only list items in the inventory or armory chest for the right side as well as the left side/base. Would make finding the relevant pieces easier.

Alarms could use a bit more work. It would feel more smooth if it opens the map to a specific alarm you're tracking when you click it. More character space would be nice too when naming the alerts. But I think linking a zone's map to an alarm would be a bigger QOL adjustment.

What do you mean? The only relevant thing I can think of is the map links which can be posted to chat. But I'm not aware of any way to name them.

The Alarm window that allows you to track timed nodes when gathering. When you set it up and click one, it only allows you to Edit, Delete, or Delete All. I'm saying it would be nice if it also opens the map to a zone for whichever Alarm you pick.

At the moment I have to check the Alarm window first, open my gathering log, then find the timed node I'm tracking. What I'm asking for basically eliminates the need to open the gathering log once you have your alarms set up.

I can't figure out how to add images here, but you can open up the alarm window by typing /alarm in-game.

Okay, found it now. I didn't know such a thing existed in-game. I've always just used external websites for that purpose.

Increasing the amount of items retainers can sell from 20 to 40

I couldn't really think of anything to contribute since this thread popped up. Until last night when I upgraded some gathering gear and began melding and applying glamours. I thought to myself, "It would be pretty sweet if just the gear that applies to the job I'm currently playing shows."

Yeah, the rest is greyed out. But when your armory is near full to full, it's a lot of scrolling, and the item I need is always somewhere in the middle of it.

Another is I wish there was a 'sort all' option for the armory.

It's also time to revisit Odin.

The cap on Poetics should be removed outright. Poetics are used to incentivize helping out other players. It's completely undermined by the cap.

While at it, Double the top tier tomestone cap. Current one is super easy to reach every week requiring minimal effort and time. Additionally it's a detriment to players who like to play more than 1 role or job.

New glamour system that opens an ENTIRELY new end game for FF14 where once a piece of gear is collected it is saved to a viewable closet that is easy to sort through. Here do this.

Copy and paste WoW's system that they stole from Rift into FF14 please for the love of god because this current glamour system feels like it is 10+ years old and is still in beta.

Possible, but doubtful. Odin might have an enrage, but he is still around Titan HM difficulty-wise. Granted, syncing players down to a certain ilv would make the enrage much tighter but he doesn't have EX type mechanics that require things like grouping, tank swaps, and wombo-combo(stacked) mechanics.

I would much rather get him in a completely brand new fight

Valknut still hits like a parade of trucks even unsynched.

And its also the only trial left out of the last step of the anima weapons besides Nidhogg and Thordian, and I suspect it isn't because of the circumstances that surrounded the latter two.

Not "fixed" but something that I find extremely annoying and cumbersome is that the enemy health plates (above their head) do not have a built in cast bar.

Other than that, I'd LOOOOOVE if the target HP frame had a compact version in the HUD, to make it look more like the Focus Target bars. More square-ish rather than long, it would be perfect for more minimalist HUD setups.

I don't if this is something that can be "fixed" or if they just need to start monitoring stuff better?

I've never really been a fan of trying to put stipulations on what can be posted in PF finder, cause who cares right? But when egirls are peddling their onlyfans, it's gotta stop.

Here’s what bothers me in game..

Badly designed hair/outfits. My hair will often clip through a weapon or helmet, and my fringe tends to make any headgear covering my face look weird and awkward, very sad I can’t wear my beast tribe mask I worked hard for.

Crafting materia. It’s just an exercise in Gil at this point. Lots of people with the penta melded sets, they just buy tons of materia from the MB and do it. It varies player to player how much it costs, prices get stupid and it’s too hard to make the best stuff if you don’t go through this. Not fun and out of synch with the rest of the game.

Undercutters. Honestly I’ve given up complaining about this now.

Aggro meter. Give me a proper dps meter. That’s all most people are using this for.

I agree with everything but the undercutters. Unfortunately that's just the nature of the market, both in game and in general. Do you want to sell quick, or do you want to sell big? Can't have it both ways, unfortunately.

Even as a tank it's like "MY SPLEEN!"

I wouldn't have it any other way though. Odin SHOULD be able to dish out a good hit or two.

Because back in ARR days the developers had this silly mechanic where attacks wouldn't deal a static amount of damage, they'd deal damage based on a percentage of your HP.

Same reason some of the Trials of Bahamut still kill people.

Instant death mechanics and HP% based attacks.

I'm getting back into housing and decorating and it's really terrible that the items in the Market Board / Crafting Log / Vendors do not have a "try out" preview window like gear.

Yeah, you can preview the items that you have already inside your housing, but I hate to be all the time resourcing to google just to know what the item looks like before buying them.

When you open the housing menu there's an option "preview indoor furnishings" which lets you preview any furnishings in the game. You can even position them as you want and preview dyes. It's limited to one at at time though so can't preview how some tabletop would look on a particular table, without actually owning the table.

- cannot dye parts of a piece of gear and everything just becomes various shades that slightly resemble the dye you used
- gear is often in shades that do not exist in dyes, so it can be tedious or impossible to try to match things when you want them to
- male miquote hands, female aura base stance, both makes their hands and one leg respectfully, look uncomfortably twisted
- housing restrictions with furniture, there are so many needless restrictions that I cannot even list them all here.
- let me have minions run around my house. I know this was planned at one time, but like many things we haven't heard a word about it since 2 or 3.something
- no beards, my dudes need some facial hair
- open door confirmation defaults to "no"
- new jobs to no get old primal weapons. A Garuda chakram? Yes please.
- no option to reset all retainer ventures with one button or just shut off the obnoxious sound effects for completing/starting them. This includes GC turn ins, I don't need to hear a victory sound for each one. I created a keybind to shut off sounds completely when I do these things.
- healers, need I say more? lol
- let my alts share my house and add at least one shared inventory bag.
- Let us see all hairstyles under the hairstyle selection screen and just lock the ones we do not have.

and finally

- more interaction with the community. It was amazing to have such a cool relationship with the community reps back in 1.x and early 2.x, we knew their names and could talk and joke with them, but this wall of silence is horrendous. I understand that you do not want to make promises that you cannot keep. But that does not mean you cannot chat more with us and let us know when you take our suggestions to the devs. The forums just feel like you are yelling into the void.

I'd like for them to add a 'Z' axis to house. While we have workable glitches to get around the restrictions they're so annoying to use and one mistake can often cause a cascading effect on an entire build. Plus the height requirements for the float glitch are arbitrary and vary widely from item to item. Some can be floated at rug height. Others need to be at least as high as a hingan wardrobe, which also makes building in apartments an even bigger nightmare than it should be.

Im using the Asha/Asura castergear, the not really black drives me nuts but i cant die it as its tainting the metal parts... such things really annoy me >_>

also to piggyback onto this, no new job SB ultimate weapons???! How is it ok for dancers and gunbreakers to put in so much work to clear an SB ultimate but not get anything to show for it??

Oh thanks for the tip! I actually never clicked that option thinking it was just to preview with stuff you had!... But still, a "try out" window would be valuable to the market board and vendors regardless, when you're doing a shopping spree.

Still on the housing Minor Gripes... that is not actually minor regarding furnishing. PLEASE GIVE US THE Z AXIS ALREADY!... Everyone and their dogs are already using glitches to float things, it's just that is a very miserable experience. Takes forever, and the slightest mistake can mess up everything.

Make it so all dungeons are guaranteed to give you 1 gear for whatever you queued as when you beat the 3rd boss. I don't think 50/60/70 dungeons do this. It's a frustrating and miserable experience trying to get glamour gear from those dungeons.

The guaranteed gear drop should at least be enabled when you run the dungeons synced.
