Interesting, Dustytome, did you already have one qualifying purchase made? As in did you already get a mount using that account?

Good find then! Seems to be an extremely fickle mix and match system then for whatever reason. I'm looking through for some discounted items to try to match to see if there's any obvious logic to the system.
I did, but I can still see at checkout if the promotion qualifies. I just tested what Ariane posted with 2x Celeste and it does indeed apply the promotion. 1 Celeste and 2x sims 4 does not (separate systems but both are digital).
Also tried: Uncharted collection + colossus = no go. (ps4)
Uncharted collection x 2 = qualifies. (ps4)
Uncharted collect + MH: World = no go. (ps4)
MH: World x 2 = qualifies. (ps4)
Celeste (digital) + End is Nigh (phsyical) = no go. (switch)
End is Nigh x 2 = qualifies. (switch)
End is Nigh (phys) + Crayola Scoot (phys) = qualifies. (switch)
Sonic Mania (digi) + celeste (digi) = no go. (switch)
Sonic Mania (dig) + Crayola Scoot (phys) = no go. (switch)
Very weird system. Thought maybe it was a qualifying items for switch, but the medium of the product had to match type of deal but that got tossed out with some of the tests. Had to manually swap the seller to Amazon for one of those at one point as it swapped to a 3rd party seller when placed in the cart.
Just an FYI, the games have to be both sold and shipped by Amazon to qualify.
Has anyone received a code ?
placed my order yesterday still have not received anything
email that items have shipped but no code
Was there anything on receipt telling you that you will be getting chocobo?
One of my friend is actually trying something to get this mount despite he is a Canadian without American friends...
I think the first attempt failed, but he entered the wrong billing info.
He created an amazon.com account
He used the Hola free VPN Proxy
He bought 60 days time card with his Canadian credit cards
Amazon shown he was eligible to receive the chocobo
Now his order is currently in "Pending Verification"
Hope it is gonna work.
some people did the same thing?
It can take up to 48 hours to get the code as long as the item qualified at checkout. What was it you ordered? Was it $19.99 or more?
The messages you get sent from amazon are also stored on the message center in case your emails have any issues. You can click Accounts & Lists at the top right of the site, then under the Communication and Content portion of the page click on "Messages from Amazon and sellers" The message with my code was labeled as "Here's your promotional credit from your recent Amazon order"
Had another inquiry about the code I was told I would receive. One amazon rep, one "marketing" team rep said it was valid, then I got a third final email not too long ago saying it wasn't valid, and they are now trying to peddle trash games I have no interest in. I could understand the customer service representative, but I got an email from the "marketing" team saying it was valid, then a second email today from the "marketing" team again saying it wasn't valid. On top of that the email they just sent had broken links on it. I do NOT think spending $20 dollars on some trash game I'll never play is worth it for a character only, reskin mount that I would never use, and just get to collect. If I hadn't just spent time with support earlier complaining and receiving a full replacement for this headset (that didn't come with the falsely advertised USB adapter), I would push harder. Not worth it. Maybe a time card, if I want to spend extra for an extra month that I don't need to pay for this month. If I hadn't been told multiple different times I would be fine, and if I hadn't been told two different things by the same 'team' I wouldn't be so annoyed.
So many hoops for such a mediocre prize.
One positive is, I have a large list of trash that is eligible if anyone was actually wondering! From things like a Mobile Gamecube battery, a knockoff controller, a WWE Wii remote... Oh my God did the marketing team actually send me this stuff.
They literally sent me a list of trash that is "eligible". This is unbelievable. I am not even exaggerating here.
No proxy and no us address needed. Just go to amazon.com not .ca. Find a qualifying purchase, preferably digital and order. When in checkout if item qualifies it says in small print.
I did have to log out and log back in for the digital time card. At first got not available in region, after it switched to sold out. Checked a few times till in stock and purchased waited almost 48 hours and got email.
I wasn't going to let it be. I contacted Amazon customer support again, and they made it right. I am happy now, and will have 2 months of sub time more.
Now I am actually just waiting on my fat black chocobo code!
Codes are tied to the specific eligible orders. If you order something that isn't eligible you WILL NOT receive a code, nor can a code be generated. If you cancel or return an order the codes get deactivated.
A North American promo limited to only .com and not available for .ca. The irony in it that is staggering seriously disappointed.
It has to mention that it qualifies on the promo page first, but everyone need to search for a mention of the black chocobo on the checkout page to be sure the promotion was triggered. Trust checkout, not the promotional page. Hopefully your code comes through ok.
And not to spam the image, but it gets lost a few pages back, this is an example of some of the mentions of the black chocobo on the checkout page before you confirm the order:

I finally got my fat bird!

Sooooo I WAS able to buy the digimal time card last week from Amazon, it just pops in every so rarely as being available. After processing I get the code from Amazon and go to try and add it in to my account and it says that I can't add a time card to my account if my paid for subscription exceeds 120 days already. I look at it and I'm paid up through the end of November currently....
..........
So maybe sometime in September or October, I can try to use the code from Amazon, if it still works, but what are the chances that I don't get my fat chocobo then since the promotion will have ended by then. I pretty much assumed this would happen...
If you're good until the end of November, you probably have around 150 days. Since the time card is for 60 days, you just need to wait 30 days (150-30+60=180), so end of July.
But as for the promotion, I don't know, I would assume it will still apply. Maybe contact Amazon for clarification.
Yeah, tried to use a VPN, but still didn't work ... this is so disgusting from SE ...Why not doing to a whole Region, instead of jsut one country. This is jsut a shit show of how SE can be for promotions, just a giant **** you from SE to Canada players.
What happened?
I showed them the original email from SE that linked me to their entire games page, said I bought the headset specifically, because I thought it was applicable. Sent them the two different emails of how their marketing team bungled the whole issue, and then they gave me a 20 dollar store credit, that I just used to buy my 60-day time card for another 10 dollars.
I waited until tonight to place my order, because the game I wanted just released today. I couldn't tell if it was eligible for the promotion; it didn't say it was on the final confirmation page. Maybe the list of eligible games was pre-set, and a game released during the promotion would be ineligible, or maybe it would qualify but just hadn't been flagged as eligible by the site.
I wanted to be sure one way or the other, so I delayed finalizing my order and used their help chat. The rep didn't seem to be familiar with the promotion, and asked me for a link to it. The best I could do was to link another game that definitely said it was eligible, and this was enough.
I waited a few minutes while he contacted someone in Marketing. He then told me that, yes, I could get the code; he just needed me to finalize the order while we were connected. I did, and after a few more minutes of waiting he told me I'd get the code within 24-48 hours.
If you can't tell whether or not the game you want is eligible for the offer, it can't hurt to ask!
It ain't not far from the truth tbh. (When i'm piss, i can be a bastard... but it rarely happen)
I jsut wish SE could see EU Australia and Canada as CUSTOMERS AS WELL... like why treating us unfairly, don,t they want more money?
Like, idk who ever is making marketing promotion(for digital item promotion) for SE, but they sure are not very good at it.
You have to be careful with this though, multiple people have gotten the ok ahead of time only to be denied days later when the code doesn't show up. It appears to be fully automated to pick up on something marked as qualifying on the product page and also being $19.99 or above after any discounts and before taxes, etc. If it meets those criteria, it will mention the black chocobo on the checkout page and the system will automatically send you your code up to 48 hours after the order confirmed. I wish you luck!
A little update on my situation... this did happen to me. I didn't get the code, so I emailed customer service and they apologized for misinforming me; turns out the $50 video game I ordered is not eligible, after all.
I don't mind, really; it's a game I wanted, anyway, and the chocobo was just going to be a nice little bonus. I'm happy with my unicorn, and I am not interested in buying some other game just to get an extra mount.
But for any future promotions of this sort, I will tell people about my experience with this one so they can make a more informed decision on whether to go for it.
I don't feel like they need to compensate me; it's just something for me to keep in mind the next time I'm considering ordering a game from Amazon.
They pretty much know they have my business for cat food, anyway; thanks, Petco, for dropping every brand made with turkey and rice. My cats and their sensitive stomachs are so grateful, but perhaps not as grateful as Amazon and my friendly local carpet cleaning company...
I'm not going to pay $20 for a game I won't use so I can get a mount I won't use.
About 2 hours and 40 minutes left on the promotion if Amazon abides by the times SE posted. Remember that the promotion must be listed somewhere on the checkout page for the order to have qualified. If it does not show it there, you will not get a code.
Examples of places it may show up at checkout for a qualifying order:
