Xoria was a goddess of wind that I had in a tRPG I was in a long time ago.
Tepes is husband's last name, taking after the historical figure Vlad Tepes (Vlad the Impaler) as well as the game series Castlevania.
My character's original last name was A'cazut when she was a Miqo'te. It's taken from Romanian to mean something along the lines of 'to fall' since my goddess character had fallen from godhood and became a demon. Basically, her name [is supposed to] read as 'Xoria the Fallen'.
Way back on the ancient times someone called me a helpful pixie in a very sarcastic, bitchy way. So I immediately changed my handle on that forum to Pixie. Went to sign up for FFXI when the PC version hit here in the US and Pixie was taken so I added the Hawk for some bite. I've been Pixiehawk (or Pixie Hawk) ever since.
A long long time ago, before the internet, I began writing to another kid that also liked Star Wars. We managed to find other people that also liked it and decided to call ourselves by made up Star Wars names.
Around that time I also liked Warhammer, although I never actually completed an army to play it. My cousin wanted to make a Wood Elven army and lent me their army book so I could read it. I liked their demigod, Kurnous, and decided to use it as my name.
For the surname I was reading the Dark Fleet trilogy of Star Wars, which featured the yevethans, whose names were all about N'something, so I chose N'tol.
From then to the current day I´ve always been a variation of Kurnous or Ntol in all games I could choose a name. I was thankful I could put my full name in this game.
"Nyx Netherflame" mostly just came from a really old character I made with a friend a long, long time ago. In the setting we chose to use as a RP basis, back in like... early high school? I made a demon character, since I was still really into demon/angel dichotomy in writing, and settled on naming her Nyx. I never came up with a last name, so when I basically imported the name years later onto this character, who was not originally named this, I made up a last name I figured the character would've chosen.
Of course it comes off really edgy, especially for someone who really enjoys DRK, but at this point it's more sentimentality and I've been dating said friend for the better of a year and some change now. Plus I like the "NN" that comes up with the acronym, and the alliteration.
'course Nyx is generally a woman, but I didn't feel like au'ra really did her justice anyway, and the character who is my main is just an old alt I liked a lot fantasia'd to her. Kinda figured to wait for Viera, since I like the one I made in the benchmark a fair bit, and I wanted a taller female race for a bit that lacked the really awkward proportions of Elezen I just could never get over.
Daiza is the bastardization of Dianna which was a common name I used to use back during the First Era of Free MMOs. (We're talking Rubies of Eventide here). By the time I started World of Warcraft again, Dianna was taken so I retyped it and somehow ended up with Daiza.
Auvec was the auto generated family name of my Star Wars Galaxies player, Ovvou Auvec of Ahazi. When that game punched us in the nuts following the NGE, I quit but every game that allowed me to use a surrname, I used Auvec. (for example when im feeling particularly RP-y, my WoW character's full name is Daiza Auvec).
Thus that carried over into this game.
I combined 2 Yu-Gi-Oh cards together lol
Higurashi or "When They Cry". Was a big fan of it when Closed Beta for 2.0 was releasing and was just the first name I tried. Granted the race doesn't do justice but never been one for picking the normal human either if I can.
I jumble letters together with my mouth until I say something I like.
For Autumn, it's a reference to Secret of Mana Theater, and by extension the classic SNES ARPG Secret of Mana. The last name is because I needed a last name and "Autumn Gale" sounded nice.
I always play Paladins and White mages in final fantasy so it fits. If I told you the origin behind my characters last name, I'd have to kill you. All I can say is it's a homage to a game I played years ago and made many friends on. Good times.
Whenever I play a game with a character creator, I tend to recreate characters from stories I've written. I have a bit of an over-arching narrative going on with every single game I play where the character I create is traveling through time and space to visit a particular world that's in need of help (or in need of destruction).
For FFXIV, since there was what's basically a Neko race, I chose to create Kattilina Lionheart. As an orphan, she gave herself that name because she thought it sounded cool (I made her before FF8. Lionheart is just a coincidence).
Once Viera are released however, I'm letting her take a much-needed break and bring in another character named Jeduh Tiikerigaia. Her last name directly means Tiger of the Earth. If Female Hrothgar were coming, she'd be that without a doubt. But Viera's lore does sync up pretty well to her, so I'm fine with them instead...for now.
