Get rid of jumping puzzle in Kugane

Im fine with Jumping Puzzles. Im just kind of annoyed with how SE did them. Most Jumping puzzles use the game to define places where you can visibly jump too. Meaning, every day stuff kind of informs you of where youre characters can jump to. But I dont get that vibe so much from FFXIV. So it makes me feel like Im floundering around for ledges to jump to, and having to start all from scratch if I miss.

Also, on some of the ledges, the actual graphic of teh ledge vs what you can jump onto (invisibile platform vs the world geometry) is a bit disconnected. So Id miss a ledge cause the ledge I thought I was gonna land on wasnt as big as it was due to that disconnect in the visual geometry and the platform.

I love jumping puzzles. I want more of them to be frank.

I tend to keep up with the sightseeing log, so this doesn't personally affect me, but it would drive me absolutely insane constantly seeing all the glowing auras if I had no intention of doing them. They really should add a toggle to hide the glow.

Can it be fun? Doing it for the destination makes the journey damned annoying. If you're doing it to see the jumping puzzle itself it's fun.

Do I hate it? Yep. The game's jumping controls are not great.

Did I feel accomplished? I accomplished never having to do it again.

Should they remove the puzzle or sightseeing locations? No... But...

Do I think they should fix the design of the jumping puzzles? YES. This jumping puzzle is a feature and a certain level of quality is expected. It should have the same boundaries and take up the same space the rendering shows it to. If you're requiring skill and accuracy from your players make the terrain accurate as well.

And would you treat sightseeing locations as, well, good places to see the sights and not tricksy travel destinations? The lamppost as a sightseeing location is just dirt stupid: being about 15 feet above the ground does not dramatically change the statue or the scenery behind it.

Except that not everyone plays on a pc/mac, the problem is on consoles in a high populated area, they tend to be really laggy and any bit of lag can cause you to overshoot or undershoot the platform. Besides this is the type of thing that belongs in platforms, action adventure games like Tomb Raider or the likes, not a MMO.

Its actually really badly designed due to hit boxes. If they're gonna put stuff behind something like this can we at the very least make sure that it's well designed?

if this game wasnt so bad at jumping and hit detection, I wouldnt have an issue with it. but after wasting days and thousands of attempts to get to the top, I finally gave up. this is from someone who did most of the jumping puzzles in GW2.

it's entirely OPTIONAL, if you don't like it you don't have to do it, that's no reason to remove it from the game.

Likewise you can also go play a game that has it to your hearts content and not put "optional" content into an mmo that doesn't need said "optional" content. The point people are making is they want to do the content without having to do jump puzzles. There are other ways they can provide content without having to do jump puzzles.

You don't get to decide what optional content does or doesn't get put into the game. That's all subjective. If it was a requirement to get through the main story quest, you may have a point. But it is OPTIONAL side crap.

I think you're confusing content with a completed entry in your log. The content IS the jump puzzle. You're just a completionist who's crying that you can't do the content for your check mark.

It's optional. Move along and pick something more suitable for your skill set and stop advocating for the removal of optional content that others enjoy. They pay the same monthly sub you do.

The entitlement of this generation never ceases to amaze.

Leatherworking guild jumping puzzle is a nightmare. You got two choices for making it 1. dumb luck 2. Be a monk or partied with a monk.

I don't mind it but I wish this game had better platforming controls. Guild Wars 2 got jumping puzzles right.

FFXIV has had jumping puzzles for years now, so anyone who enjoys them as optional content seems to have selected the correct game for themselves.

I'm really bad at jumping, spent 8 hours on it in one sitting and quite a few more on other occasions, still didn't reach the top, though I've improved my pace since then... but it's been pretty fun, and a psychological experience at that - it was quite something to observe your reactions change as hours pass :P

It took me about 2 hours, possibly a little over to climb that dang tower on PS4. Not doing it again though, even though there's a vista at the bottom now that's always taunting me.

I absolutely love the Kugane tower jump puzzle. The content in this game goes by blazing fast, and I enjoy reattempting both the tower and the street lantern jumps every so often when I don’t feel like running mentor roulette as healer or grinding my craft/gather classes. Maybe it isn’t the horizontal progression some people have asked for but I feel like these jump puzzles are sorely needed content.

That being said, I would gladly volunteer if they allowed for a consent-based option to share movement control (nothing else, just movement) strictly inside of Kugane and climb the tower and make the jump for people who otherwise cannot do it (or would just prefer to avoid ripping their hair out). I’ve already gotten both sight seeing entries for a friend while I was over at her house, would love to do that for others.

You're right I don't have any say in anything in this game but neither does anyone else when it comes to whining about DPS, heals, bis, too hard of content or anything else anyone complains about in this game.

I see more people advocating for the removal or changing of platforming in a MMO than I do for the keeping of it. Nice try though.

Yes its optional that doesn't matter as I previously said and will continue to say until kids understand this jump puzzles don't work in mmo's for a reason, they're not designed to do so.

Yep i'm the entitled one and of course your assumption of me being a millennial is rich. I'm not entitled I don't expect them to remove it, just stating my opinion I know it's a hard concept for true millennials like you to grasp.

Btw how many people complain about "optional" content in this game? Quite a few.

Enter the Leatherworks guild and head to the area where the guild master is, too the right as you enter the giant like frame up against the wall. The puzzle is getting on top of that frame and its not easy as its all about hitting the right spot if your lucky enough to hit.
