Everyone has opinions. Everyone has taste. Everyone here is merely expressing it on equal grounds.

I think being able to ride various creatures other than chocobos as mounts would be cool, personally. That, and the Majitek Armors... something like that one scene in FF13 where Hope takes control of the Dreadnaught and you can plow through all the monsters. Imagine a huge battle with the Imperials involving those and airships... that would be awesome.

Another thing that I think would be awesome, and would also be very nostalgic of the other FF games: be able to raise your chocobos to where they could run on water, fly, etc., and be able to access certain areas that would otherwise be inaccessible. Then, you could put hidden treasures your chocobo could dig up, secluded towns, optional bosses... anything you could think of. That said, you could probably do the same for mounts and Magitek Armor as well, to a certain extent, I guess. Maybe they could pull a Donkey Kong Country move and have the goats or other animals be able to ram certain rock formations to break them and reveal treasures or hidden areas... stuff like that. It'd really add a lot of cool gameplay elements.

Um, there's no abortion law when developing a video game that stipulates you have to carry the concept to term just because it's already developed.

Of course not, but it's certainly unlikely that they'll choose to abandon a newly developed system without even using it.

/Dislike monster mounts

Personally... I wish they'd made the chocobo breeding awesome. FF series have had different kinds of Chocobos, from ones that could go on shallow water, to deep water, to flying. They really had a lot of potential with their chocobos and other mounts from previous FF games... I don't understand why they didn't stick to it.

I think sticking to chocobos would really retain that FF feel that he was trying to recapture. By using monster mounts... I think it delves into WoW-esque/Non-FF waters a lil too much.

Lol, don't you think it's funny how everyone uses "It's not FF enough" to justify introducing a metric tonne of stupid crap into FFXIV, and yet the one time this reason would actually prove itself valid (i.e., monster mounts are definitely not very FF), the developers don't bat an eye and keep developing this stupid idea further.

Gurlfriend - look here - that Gobbue mount aint doin' anyone no favors, and quite frankly makes you look fat. Get that crap outta FFXIV before FFXIV ends up on the worst-dressed list of MMOs with such tacky features.

I agree with this sentiment!

If they want flying mounts, special mounts, etc, then why not just make the chocobos do that stuff like they used to? They will probably still add chocobo breeding, but for the purpose of different colors maybe?

I sure miss my white flying chocobo from FFIX...

I just don't get why we can't have Chocobos + other things? I mean if you want to use Chocobos, go right ahead. If I want to ride on a giant crab, I should have that option! There's nothing that says they are unable to be tamed. All that needs to be introduced is an NPC that has the ability to do this and hands that knowledge down to the players, or at the very least charges players to do it for them. No lore conflicts there.

FF has never, and should never, stick strictly to tradition and never deviating.

The fact that they system's almost finish doesn't guarantee its implementation however it does strongly imply it. They wouldn't spend all the time and money necessary to develop it that far if they planned on abandoning it at the first sign of bitching. At this point, I'd say it's highly probable that it will be implemented so:

I personally don't think there's *much* wrong with having other mounts, I just don't think it should be a feature everyone can use (like teleporting..)

There should be a special job, or quest or something that allows such a thing. I said this earlier, a beast master type class would be perfect for it.
