Honestly nope lol. Just kinda popped in my head the day I created my character. Other never heard of dog bountyhunter. :P
Surprised the servers weren't shut down earlier... And to all the people complaining about the game being down, think what I'm gonna suffer without being able to read my mangas and watch my animes? D= But bad things happen, all I can do at the moment is spend my time playing Pokemon and pray that everything goes well in Japan~
you and your manga's shadow... go read the ones you have right now again... i bet they're all lonely... anyway on another note. I really sympathize with what is going on with Japan right now. I understand their need for blackouts and having to shut down their servers for what is going on.
What happened in Japan was not something that they could have warning on. (and I know all this from experience.) I live in Florida where we have "hurricane seasons" and natural disasters like there is no tomorrow. Sink holes that can destroy a house in an instant. The only difference between a Hurricane and an earthquake is that we know when and normally where one will strike (meaning the hurricane) then again those are iffy at that. And quite honestly I'm ashamed of everyone who's been saying the crap that they have been sometimes yes its best to be prepared for the worst case scenarios however how often do earthquakes happen in Japan. It's not like California's San Andreas fault like where if you sneeze the wrong way you'll cause the ground to shake (yes I'm exagerating on that by a lot) But sometimes with becoming complacent when things do not happen in a long time puts people into a lull and their expectations on things become different. Meaning they saw no need to have back up servers outside of the country. In the business sense that is money wasted especially if things do not happen as often. So seriously there is a need for business perspective in those saying "back up servers outside the country".
Again I support SE 100% and my prayers go out to all the families that are going through this in that country and I pray to my goddess that they all find comfort with one another over any of their lost loved ones as well as a speedy recovery.
Am Surprised also the game last this long i was thinking the website would have been shutdown also.
Hoping for the best SE.
Well, not surprised this happened at all really. I just hope everyone over there is holding on okay..
GET WELL, JAPAN <3
Good move, SE. And for the best cause :)
We'll be hoping for the best
I pray for your safety Japan!
Here's to a speedy recovery.
Anyone showing disrespect here should have their accounts banned.
I just want to say that I am 100% ok with the servers going down for a while. It sucks, but its needed.
I wouldn't say that. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, no matter how insensitive.
I just sincerely and truly hope that no one here ever goes through what people in Japan are going through.
May this is be an unfortunate event that brings mankind closer than ever.
Alright perhaps I'm being a little harsh on those who have no morality to them at all. However I do think that those in this situation should take a serious look at themselves. If they are unable to have some kind of emotion and sympathize with mankind on an issue as big as this, then something in their brain is simply malfunctioning. If it's an honest decision to be that insensitive, then you are just a monster.
I pray something like this never happens here in NA, we are certainly not prepared for an event like this.
I do not mind the servers being down. Of course I would like to get back to my character, but real life events are more important. I feel that the staff needs to take care of each other and their facilities before they get back to taking care of us. If you think of any other commercial facility that survives a natural disaster it would be the same way.
In regards to forum trolls I will quote what a famous person once said "There are two things that are infinite, the universe and human stupidity. And i'm not sure about the universe"
Rockne, looking at page 10, can I just say I'm proud to have you as my linkshell master?
wow at all the troll and moralf*g replies. People need to realize that trolls are not need to be fed, and assume a moral high ground then start flaming is not more constructive than the trolls.
anyway, I don't blame SE for shutting down the servers since there's the national call for conserving energy. But I do agree it's not a good idea to host an international game with servers concentrated in one geographic location.
Why does this thread continue to exist?
well you know my heart goes out to the people of japan. But in retrospect at least if the servers are down for a week ( maybe) ill finaly get all my anima back lol
and the big easy was flooded. not to mention the BP oil spill.
Please do stop bringing up that SE only has the game servers in Japan. I think that point is moot. Just be happy we have ffxi ffxiv at all. It coulda been destroyed. And lost lives in the gaming industry. Oh and don't forget 9/11. Worst tragedy on US soil since pearl harbor.
there wasn't just katrina there was also Charlie Ivan then Andrew over a decade ago... also that hurricane that hit mexico and Texas... the list can keep going on and on most of them I've been alive for yet so many people tend to forget about. Theres also those fires they constantly get in California because of the Santa Anna winds... and for the love of the gods I hope I never live to see the day when the super volcanoe under Yellowstone national park ever erupts though there is a lot of activity going on there... the list goes on and on but the point i believe Holy was trying to make is that he hopes something like that doesn't happen on a continent wide scale because WE as in the North American Continent (including Mexico, and Canada) are not prepared for such a thing to occur.
Then again... one could think of it this way... Is truly anyone ever prepared for such a terrible thing to happen? People can complain all they want about not being able to get their way in something that is only a game and has no exact impact on a person's life, but it still just boils down to this... It's a game and at times in a person life it's necessary to put away such childish things and look at the bigger picture. People are dying and or are dead at this moment in time. It's not something that can be taken lightly or with contempt because it's a human life at stake and their value as human beings far out weighs the needs of the few. Put yourself in their place in their shoes and then you'll really know what it's like. To see how deep their fear is running, or to feel the pain they're feeling for loosing loved ones and to see their whole lively hoods as well as the lives they have built up vanish in an instant. Most of them are homeless and have no food or only have the clothing off their backs. And I would hope that the entire human race would have enough compassion to realize that. I know that a lot of times that's asking too much from human beings but aren't we the smarter ones on the evolutionary chain and have the ability to have these feelings to make us better people and more advanced?
@ Alienbaby, having backup of the server would make no difference, they have planned nation wide blackouts in order to conserve power, 3 of there nuclear power plants could go into meltdown because of this Tsunami. watch the news instead of trolling on here pissing people off. I could not care less about a video game when the lives of over 12,000 people have already been lost, i would not want to think of what could happen if just one of those power stations goes pop.
(ヾ(´・ω・`)いってらっちゃ
Wow, Kilta still trying to school everyone.
P.S. Yea, they wont be in control of when the controlled blackouts take place therefore its a good idea to keep them down for the sake of data integrity and protection from power surges ect.
Thanks rannie :D
Good Luck SE and all of Japan will be praying for you
Don't take me wrong, i don't want to sound rude because all the bad things that are happening on Japan, is just curiosity.
They can keep working on the game while servers are closed?
They can and likely will, but they are doing power shutdowns across Tokyo to conserve power for hospitals. It's tough to do coding when there is no power.
Heya!
They'll surely do some analysis to keep things going on, since power is off, but I'd prefer them to check on their family and to stay together in this time of need than to see them caring for the game.
I'll raise my fist on the air for you, Japan! Be Strong!
See ya!
SE will be losing money, but they are also insured against these kinds of things. This happening is unlikely, but possible, so of course SE have failsafes in place to prevent substantial monetary losses from downtime. BUT, this would possibly NOT be one thing you can get insured against... I honestly don't know, because I am not familiar with Japanese corporate insurance policies. All I know is that when I lived in Utah (an active EQ zone), I had to have additional EQ insurance on my home.
Anyone wanna enlighten me?
