You know, I don't remember WoW looking that good. Last I checked, the characters were made out of jagged blocks and the landscapes out of play-doh. Oh, wait... there was that weird filter thing which added a bit of blurryness and tarted up the lighting. Shame the characters still look like someone's re-arranged their face with a chainsaw. If WoW ever looked half as good as that concept screenshot I'd buy everyone in Blizzard a round of beers. That said, I think my money is safe.

Seriously though, I absolutely ADORE the concept screenshot. I realise things are subject to change, and that might not reflect the final version, yadda yadda, but what I see I like. What I like, I'm willing to pay for. That means SE has got my subscription when things change over later this year.

Well I for one am curious about the in game changes we who play now get to experience. The 2.0 idea sounds like they basically remade the game and all the patches we are seeing now are just to keep us busy so to speak. Im excited but 2012 is a bit off and pending we are all still alive lol I will definately be ready for the relaunching of the true FFXIV.

We have today all had a chance of seeing some amazing directions that XIV is taking and I for one am very excited. I also think it is going in a direction that isn't simply copying off WoW which everyone seems to keep refering to. I for one am not a fan of WoW but there is no denying that it is an amazingly successful game and the top dog in its genre. If the developers see elements of it that they think will work in XIV in a way they can make their own then good on them for doing some market research and appealing to a broader market.

You can sit there and type your boring empty threats that everyone has read 100 times over about quiting but at the end of the day Square Enix is a busniess and if they are not making money then you wont have any XIV. In its current state it has been one of the most damaging titles to the FF franchise.

Dev team, I think these plans are superb and I applaud the hard work and dedication you're putting into making this game an enjoyable one. I look forward to paying my monthly fees and to contribute to the futre success and progression of the title. Be proud of all the hard work the team is putting in and instead of trying to costantly please everyone on these forums, maybe stand up for all those hours you're putting in on this title.

On a side note, showing my friends the details for 2.0 sparked so much interest they are all going to pick a copy up ASAP. There's an extra £90 a month for you come December SE.

Everything you saw was concept art, as in rough sketches, even the UI pic you saw was not an actual screenshot, it was a drawn (well) pic.

I, for one, am very excited to see these changes come. after seeing what they have done from launch to date, my inital doubts about SE being able to make the changes they needed to, have vanished. i only wish i could offer my services as a voice actor for the voice content.

I gotta disagree with you man. I played WoW, and FFXIV 2.0 doesn't look like it, at least to me. People tend to attribute all sorts of things to WoW, but most of the time they've been borrowed from other games.
And if FFXIV were borrowing gameplay elements from WoW, why is that so bad, assuming that these are things Blizz did well?

It's quite obvious that the main reason he's so hurt about it is because he wanted to play summoner in FFXIV in future and the chances of that are even slimmer now. Honestly, that's a pretty bad reason to trash on something that the vast majority are excited for.

Makes me laugh when butthurt WoW fanboys say FFXIV is copying WoW or becoming a clone, FFXI was around before WoW and had alot of the features which FFXIV will be getting.

Oh and on another note about the "add-ons" if SE didn't want people to see FFXI's Alliance/party TP etc. they wouldnt send that infomation to the damn client.
