Materia incompatible with dated equipment.
ok.... :S
It doesn't.
Get over it.
I agree, being born and raised in Japan makes me a "Japanophile". You do know the questions and answers are being translated via Twitter, right?
Since you bring up it:
American companies never translate info for other regions they support till long after the after, it's actually one of the biggest complaints against companies like Blizzard and Bioware.
"Even though the blog is Japanese, please listen to new BGMs to be introduced in patch 1.19!" October 3. English twitter.

"Presenting the Letter from the Producer on YouTube Live! (09/28/2011)
FINAL FANTASY XIV will celebrate its one-year anniversary on September 30th!
To celebrate FINAL FANTASY XIV’s one-year anniversary, we are presenting “Letter from the Producer LIVE,” a special live edition(*) of the Letter from the Producer on YouTube Live.
During this live broadcast, Producer/Director Naoki Yoshida will be answering various questions sent by players around the globe. Be sure not to miss this special opportunity to hear the words on the future of FINAL FANTASY XIV straight from the producer’s mouth!
More specific details will be announced at a later date.
* “Letter from the Producer LIVE” is scheduled to air on October 4th, 2011 at 5:00 PDT.
now show me where in that news does it say "Japanese language only"
#XIVLive Q: How will you earn spiritbond points for Materia Craft? Will it be based on the number of hits? Parties you're in? When does it reach 100%?
A: Spiritbond will increase when you earn experience points.
Oh I forgot that I'm supposed to follow twitter 24/7 if I don't want to be misled by the plethora of information on the ENGLISH SITE advertising a LIVE LETTER ON YOUTUBE.
I saw that I had to ask questions on twitter, but nothing about having to use twitter to know what is going on.
Oh my god, someone please ask him which Mage class is getting which Mage job please! Or else I will die. D:
Spiritbond linked to EXP gains.
Gwahahaha!
#XIVLive Q: We have seen Ifrit weapons. Are there any plans to implement Ifrit armor in the future?
A: The Ifrit weapons are heavily focused on Ifrit’s horns. I wanted to implement weapons with special effects so we will only implement weapons this time. However, we are currently in the process of creating new armor (job specific armor, crafter specific armor, etc.) for the upcoming content. Stay tuned!
On the bright side we get to see all of yoshis awesome live.
That transcends language. >_>
Sorry that we live in the year 2011 where the majority of information is shared over Twitter and some of you numbnuts are too lazy or dumb to understand how to operate it. Read it more often.
On another note, stop raging over this. Holy shit you nerds.
about to go back to sleep. man... ; ;
You cannot be this dumb... The ANNOUNCEMENT IS IN ENGLISH. Would you announce something in a language it's not available in? Seriously?
That's about the blog they posted the music clips on. It has absolutely nothing to do with the letter from the producer live.
I can wave aside the whole Japanese language broadcast thing since we have the Q&A english interpretation, my main concern is that this is my first time using twitter, I'm using the #XIVLive tag, yet I don't think my tweets are communicating to them because I can't see my questions appearing in the #XIVLive list ... idk what I'm doing wrong :/
One thing that comes to mind on the spirit bond is, can I spirit bond items at level 50? Like I have a level 50 miner, can I spiritbond any pickaxes.
As they did tell us to follow on twitter, I would have thought that enough of a clue. But then since Twitter seems complicated to you, maybe not.
Does anybody else see Lvl 60 at the bottom right hand corner of the whiteboard.....?
i hope the subtitled version gets uploaded soon.
#XIVLive Q: Will you be adding chocobo animations while on chocoback? Like waving while riding?
A: Currently we don’t have any plans for this, but if there are a lot of requests, we will look into it.
Q: I understand that the chocobos implemented now are male. Will there be a female chocobo?
A: Chocobos are heavily connected with Ishgard and come only from their at the moment. In order to maintain their exclusivity, currently only male chocobos are being given out to the rest of the city-states. Also when you name Chocobo, you might want to name them male-type names!
Perhaps I misunderstood things, but I was under the impression there would be a reason for those who do not speak Japanese to watch the live stream. I can't understand what it could be, unless they are going to dance like Uematsu did at that XI Fan Festival...
Not to mention it promotes people reaching out to their fans or peers a bit more, something quite difficult for some of you gamers who seem to only be attached to a computer and raging on message boards.
#XIVLive Q: As a gamepad user, I find it difficult to scroll through the list of actions. Are there any plans to update the interface?
A: We will be working on updating the user interface not only for the gamepad, but for the keyboard/mouse users as well. Please be sure to provide us with your feedback.
Chocobos are from Ishgard...
*loregasm*
I lurk these forums all the time, but because of that one-time password, it's usually an inconvenience for me actually to log in and say anything. But this morning, I felt I needed to. For my health. Because I'm really really really irritated with SE.
When I woke up this morning and zombie-walked to the coffee maker, it occurred to me that I was excited for this interview the same way I used to get excited for Christmas. Square-Enix, in all their wisdom (I thought without the least hint of sarcasm), had created a major event for the FFXIV fans to enjoy out-of-game. They were working hard to create a buzz, and that has to start with the core players before it can brim over to the general public. Wow! What a plan!
So there we all are, sitting in our pajamas drinking our coffees, many of us having had only a few hours of sleep, *wanting* to be a part of this, excited to help recreate a buzz for this game; we, the most derided, the most loyal video-game fans in the world, are sitting in our pajamas watching a couple of middle-aged buffoons try to work a camcorder in what appears to be a break room while tripping over one another with social niceties. "Hai!" "Hai!" "Hai!" Hai!" No, I said hai first! No, *I* said hai first! NO I DID! Well, thanks for being so polite, fellas. You woke an entire nation of gamers to gibber at us incoherently without a translator. Another brilliant marketing stunt from SE. And I don't doubt it'll create a buzz--but it will stop with us fans, die on these forums by next week, and never brim out to the public. It will become one more joke at stupid, backwards, pin-headed Square-Enix's expense.
As I type this summa of rage I hear their inane chatter in the background, and that spurs me on. At this point, I am beyond political correctness. Hai, I do not care if you dub me troll. I guess I am trolling you. But, gosh dammit, don't you see--in trolling you, I troll myself; for FFXIV makes two fans as one fan-flesh. I want this stupid, bugged, noisy, flim-flam game to succeed just as much as you do! But what do I get out of this relationship except a pain in my as$? Why the heck did they wake us up? I don't use twitter! I don't want to read the translations! I didn't wake up for a live interview just to read the transcript after the fact. This should have been a professional interview with a live translator, just as there would be at some political meeting. It's just Laurel and Hardy bowing at each other in a broom closet!

Excuse me while I go hemorrhage. And moving onto something completely different, Mr. Yoshida certainly has a deep voice.
B!tch, moan, complain, defend, troll, flame--but whatever you do, this unchecked aggression from SE must not stand! Let's make some more noise! Let's tell them, with one joined voice, that we WILL NOT BE AWAKENED UNDULY!
#XIVLive Q: PvP has often been touched on, but exactly what kind of elements are you thinking to add?
A: First off, we are designing it so that players that do not wish to take part in PvP are not forced to. We are planning 2 things for PvP. The first are battles in the Coliseum. The second is an PvP area where you can fight for control of various influences.
