My heart goes out to all of the Japanese community, especially to those who have lost relatives and friends in this whole affair.
My prayers are with you. Best wishes from Malta.

It would be nice to get an update in regards to how this will affect the development of the game, and if there are any plans to postpone updates from now on. While I am sorry for the situation in Japan I'd like to know what the management team has planned for the near future. I do understand if everything is not quite clear yet on that front however.
They're still a major company and must act like one, even in these hard times. There's not much they can do except to go on with their lives. Thinking about the potential new quakes and becoming paralyzed by it won't help the situation.
I am sure they are planning something already. Whenever they are ready to update on the status of the game, I'm here to hear it.
Here's some stuff on FFXI: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/2262 That should give you somewhat an idea about FFXIV.
Other major companies in Japan, like Samsung and Sony have closed down some of their plants so it's not just SE that's not conducting business. Have you ever thought that maybe some of the employees have lost family and possible taken time off? Also considering Tokyo has scheduled blackouts, we probably won't have another update until April. Anyway thanks for using a thread that is supposed to give support and sympathy for Japan to ask your selfish question. You could have created your own thread.
I think that is the info we are looking for though. Have SE employees lost family members? I would like to know this stuff. It may be selfish but I am not asking them to re-start the servers. I am asking for 1 employee, any employee of SE in Japan to log on to these forums and make a small statement giving us an idea of the state of the company and any plans they may have talked about thus far. I do not feel this is too much to ask. I am willing to be called whatever names, I don't mind cause if I am wrong, this is still what I want.
Yeah, this is what I'd like to know. XI received an update the regarding the situation, and the two games operate differently with different priorities so it should be nice to know the situation regarding XIV as well.Quote:

I don't mind the employee's taking time off, or the updates getting delayed, or other changes in schedule that need to be made, but I'd like to know about them. That's all I'm asking here. I know they can handle the situation just fine, but the information should keep flowing steadily as the situation changes.
These things in particular affect our lives directly, so I do not think it is too much asked to stay up-to-date on the situation. It doesn't mean I don't care about whats happening in Japan as a whole, but those things do not affect me directly, while the situation at S-E does.
I figured this is the best place to ask, as Yoshida has already posted here twice and I am sure he or someone else is monitoring the thread.
Well considering Yoshi-P has said he hasn't heard from friend, I would say that counts. That person may not be family but they may be important to him. I look at Yoshi-P's log in times from time to time and today was the first day he logged in two days, so either he was busy with the game or taking some time off grieving, we don't know.
Also the game being offline may affect your life, but it really don't affect mine, since I'm not paying for it. If they want us to know something, they will let us know, like what they did with FFXI.
He is not really in a position to take time off. Harsh? Maybe, but that's how it is. I doubt he is going anywhere, although other employee's might. I don't really know what you're trying to say at this point though. Giving them a nudge isn't going to hurt anyone, and I'm sure they understand where I'm coming from here.
The updates are delayed, the servers are offline. You don't have to pay for the service to be affected by the situation. They are also not required to post any updates, but I hope they will. Yoshida seems like a guy who keeps his audience informed.
Rude or not, whatever. They will either get back up asap or get left behind. That's the reality of the situation. Other MMO devs aren't giving them any time for mourning, nor is the playerbase. I'm sure they understand this.
If you think about it, this topic does belong here. If they posted more we would know if they are ok. The point of this post is to tell them we hope the staff is ok. I hope they understand that we are devoted fans and want up to date information because we care about this game and the people that make it. I hope the staff is flattered to know that we are still here talking about the game days after it is shut down. I am patient and can wait to get the game back. However hearing from the staff in the meantime is important to me.
I'm sure he can take off whenever he wants, he most likely has vacation time. It may not be the best idea during this time, but there are others that can do his job while he's away. LOL, I don't know what game you're playing, but XIV is already left behind, also most of the playerbase understand the situation and the ones that do will come back.
Then how about making your own topic asking for information about the game? Why use this one, if it's used to "tell them we hope the staff is ok"? You can show your devotion in another topic.Quote:

The point of my post was to ask whether the staff is ok, the development is ok and the game is ok. It is important to me as well.
But yeah this is the Japanese forum, gomennasai minna-san.
Which makes it even more important for them to catch up, not worry about the aftershocks.Quote:

Doumo arigatou for the letter, Yoshida-san. Hope to have it officially translated soon, good luck.
Well, well it looks like I was right, some of the team members have family that have been affected. Hopefully everyone's family is safe. See Betelgeuzah, you just need to be patient.Quote:
Tokyo, where our development and operation teams are based, has suffered minimal damage from the earthquake and its after effects. We have confirmed the safety of all our team members, but there are those with family in the affected regions. Due to this, the concerns of the nuclear plants, and the ongoing aftershocks, we are not at our best.
What are you talking about >_>
I wanted to know what's up, Yoshida told us what's up. Whether it was due to my post here or not doesn't matter, I got what I asked for. I didn't even say I thought the team members weren't affected.
If I understood this right, since their German and French translators are MIA they're working on things that don't require translations for the time being. Sounds reasonable enough. Obviously due to worrying for their families and the blackouts they can't work as much as they want to, but they're not giving up.
If you don't understand never mind.
We really appreciate the update, Yoshi-P!
As always, our thoughts and prayers are with your team and the entire country of Japan.
I'd like to thank all of you for your concern.
Though my friends and family are safe, a great many have lost their lives.
Our thoughts and prayers are with them.
Naoki Yoshida.
Thank you, Taking the time, which I know right now has to be hard to do, to come say this to us means a lot. If there is anything you would like us to do let us know. I am sure I speak for a lot of us on here when I say that we wish we were doing more to help.
Thank you for the update Yoshida-san!
We really appreciate, that you keep us informed under this terrible circumstances!
Take your time! Life is more important than a Video Game!
Best wishes to SE, all our friends in Japan, their families and friends!
