Primal Battle, Ifrit Loot

"Puts hands up" Okay I'm going to jump into the deep end here and join Reinheart and post some of my ideas. Now I must stress I like the new weapons but I do think that the bow could do with some scaling in size. and like Reinheart did for the H2H weapon I want to show you all some of my designs for said bow.

Now, now I know its a sketch but I wanted to get it off my chest quite fast so I only marked the the parts where main glow sections are. I would also like to add that the one on the far right is a sketch of the original and the others are my ideas based off the original they are to scale to each other. So they are smaller too.

different context, you can't really deny that these days designs like that are usually associated with Korean MMOs. Back in DMC's days, there hasn't been much of any Korean presence in western gaming market, so naturally any link would be rather impossible. Remember, perceptions do change over time. Besides, the Korean designs usually takes from both JP and Western designs, which results in a rather distinct style for me... I guess "beautified western fantasy" is how I would describe it.

As for korean anime/manga... for some reason I usually can't bring myself to like them. Outside of a few exceptions, I just don't find the art attractive.

True enough, usually when something uses a lot of something then people start associating that thing with it. Kind of like how The Rasmus kept using the heartagram and people started to think it was theirs, when it was actually H.I.M's creation, or how people associate Transformers as an American cartoon when it was originally created in Japan.

People just forget the origins of these things I guess.

The Pug's weapon I agree, they need to sharpen the edges more, unless its supposed to be a blunt type grip. If so, they need to get rid of that horned look, flatten it down based on the "spike knuckles" model, and make the face of that glow.

It's a joke, just like I hope these Ifrit toys are.

Am I the only one to think that if they are going to have the Pugilist weapon be so large, they should have just made it boxing gloves that were composed of Ifrit's entire head? -- This would obviously be a two part weapon as you would have to kill Ifrit twice in order to get a head for each hand.

Take a looksie at the monk on the front-cover of that magazine everyone was going about with the bowharp. The monk in that has wolf-head shaped boxing gloves :p

The Ifrit PUG weapons are just two horns though, which Ifrit is mostly covered in. They do look a teenie bit silly, but punching someone with them is gonna be like jabbing them with 4 hot pokers all at once, so it's not all bad ;)

Hmm, I guess I never noticed the wolf-head boxing gloves... so at least they have that in the pipeline as a thought.

Of course I was hoping that if I had two Ifrit heads, I could start up a side business doing a puppet show in the town square, but that would require some "controls" in the head that would allow me to do some animations!

As for the four hot pokers, I guess that will have to do for now as long as a new ability comes forth called "burning sensation." This move would use one knuckle to poke out the eyes of the enemy, while the other was used as a hot seat for the gonads. However, this move can only be done on humanoid figures or creatures no larger than arm length as I cannot figure out how that would work logistically on very large creatures...

Easily the most demonic-looking bow I've ever seen, and the glow looks alright too.

These people that is whining about people that likes it are as pointless as taste of music argument, some people like these style some people don't yada yada.

I personally liked the Bow because it's very Monster Hunter-ish, takes monsters parts to make a ressemble weapon, also Monster Hunter is Japanese Game, a very big game too o.o!

Eh, i just think they are ugly... almost every one of them. Dont get me wrong, I can definately see the thinking used when coming up with the designs. I just think they are ugly.

I think the glow is ok though. I dont think its over done. Just ugly. Guess ill just sit back and wait for Dark Souls to come out.

Nice! All of the weapons look really good tho some seem "over sized"? The bow is a little big, maybe the sword (?), the dagger looks like a fat kid on cake, and the H2H doesn't look to detailed. :/ Maybe next time PUGs!

Unless im mistaken, isnt that bow about the same size as a normal crab carapace bow (cant recall the exact name atm)?

idk, that bow is pretty BAMF but the H2H are comical. I wouldn't equip those, not unless they were the best H2H in the game.

I initially thought that clip was a hoax. Now that is has sinked in.. While they look flashy, I think they gone overboard with these designs.

The real issues i see here are that presenting such weapons of this glow and size will make it hard and ridiculous to outdo in the future when more important and stronger weapons will inevitably come. These weapons will just be fancy looking but hardly utilized which is a shame and bad vision for future and longevity of weapons. While not a hardcore player myself, these are the kinda weapons i'd expect to be somethin reserved for end-game, something relic like and hard to get, atleast then they will hold some real value to those who hold it and have bad ass stats and perhaps some Ifrit exclusive abilities tied to the weapons.

I'm dreading the image i have of this game in a few years time when everyone will be running around with different types of glowing weapons from different summons. I'm not against introducing flashy weapons, but dont go too far from the start and i'll have to also agree the size and horn look has been overdone. The pug weapon is just fugly - Neck Pilow as someone stated, gauntlets would have been way nicer. And...has Ifrit munching on some PS Move controllers? >.>

Pugilist weapon looks lame as all get out. Smaller, more compact Pugilist weapons please.

The Marauder/Lancer ones are sweet, though.

Marauder and Lancer look the best!

PUG and ARC could be smaller, and I think the THM weapon looks just weird...

Very overboard. I am disapointed with SE's Weapons Dev team on this one. If all primal stuff is going to look like this and have good stats then we are one step closer to a Korean MMO or a WoW like game.

Why should I pay for that if that happens? I want to pay for quality not free to play aion or something.

Yes, a guy may think the ifrit gear looks korean, probably because the only other place he's seen designs like that were in a korean game/mmo

Yes, a guy may like the new ifrit gear, but that doesn't mean he's a brainless WoW-oaf who can't appreciate a more subtle style.
