If they make another one and it's unisex, perhaps because the original has tiara on it. (Maybe they don't like male using tiara too but I don't know... :/ )

Personally, I don't think any gear should be gender-locked or raced-locked! I say let the men wear fishnets, pumps, and bunny ears! I say let the Roes wear Lala starter gear! Fashion Anarchy! :D
Well, since they've proven again and again that they can show the same gear piece differently on male and female models (just look at all the crafting tights that turn into skirts on women, and the eerie tights, and the caster soldiery tights, and the WHM AF "trousers", and.... the list goes on), it should be easier to just edit the current item and make it unisex. But meh, we'll see, I guess.
The Platinum Circlet of Healing/Casting has a (tiny) gem on it and slightly different feathers when worn by females. It's both a completely arbitrary and meaningless difference (as both variants are fairly neutral imho) and also proof that the more "feminine" elements of a design can be tastefully removed or altered for the male version without making it an overly conspicuous difference or a separate piece.
So why don't they do that to begin with for stuff like this? Who knows.
If a change = more players are happy then it is NEVER a waste of developers time.
Happy players remain customers.
From a very tiny change to a huge change, customer satisfaction should be any companys #1 priority.
Its a business plain and simple, they do not offer the game for free...they are not handing it out to the world out of their goodness of their hearts, it exists to make money and lots of it!!!
More happy CUSTOMERS = more stable $ flow.
Although I could only chuckle in a lala male with bunny ears ..if it would make more people happy then I would never say no.
Oops I bumped it again :p
IF HILDIBRAND CAN BE A PRETTY PRETTY PRINCESS, WHY CAN'T I? ;_;
I can only assume Japan is still behind the times when it comes to equality.
Perhaps the more droopy bunny ears are for both genders~
"However, there is female-specific gear (such as the head and hand equipment) that can be modified to fit with male character models"
Right!??!
I'm sure SE has an actual reason but the whole character model thing playing into being able to put female gear on male characters makes no sense to me. Character models are just mesh designs so you can adjust them freely as needed (like a breast slider). Unless they have some horribly designed backwards model and design utilities (after hearing about the destiny design tools I think this is the actual problem) or just mean the textures will look bad then whatever I guess but still…if you just don't want to spend the time on it just say so.
