At this point they should just add some definition for Abs to it and call it a day by adding a six pack for males to flaunt also.

Tbh hole or no hole, that doesn't change anything to me when i gotta raise you for the X time.
I never know an armor show belly can get to 17 pages of discussion, interesting.
I wish I had the time to complain about a non-issue like this.
The female DRG AF looks great.
SE doesn't need to do anything. How entitled.
You completely overlooked the point of the conversation, which was muted when it was revealed to me that the thread was, in fact, a troll post:
Your original thread got my upvote. However if and when the DRK gear for females has (Or does not have) a midriff cut out of it, you cross the line when you demand it be changed. It's not yours. You can call it dirt, but when you screw with something someone else created, it's defacement.
'Critiques' based on personal opinion are just that, personal opinion and are fine. Influence towards future designs (or ideally future options and variants) is feedback that can be weighed in on. The final design is still left to the decision of the development heads.
The line is drawn at demands of destroying something (IE, making a variant no longer available) simply based on an outspoken number's aesthetic values, which is fundamentally wrong. It literally meshes the equivalent of revisionist history and book burning - an act among the darker societal steps in human history, which you seem to accept casually. If I get labeled for calling out such a synonym, so be it. It's greatly disturbing and should not be encouraged.
Furthermore there is literally no point to having it simply just one way. We've got three variations on the gear already. One of which is colorable, so obviously them expanding the item files to provide options isn't really a concern for them. So why this isn't seen as a valid route by the players protesting the exposure of a bit of belly is beyond me.
I personally don't like the midriff for my character. It completely contrasts the image I make for her. But there is plenty of other, beautiful pieces gear for me to explore as options for my character.
So, to meet your request for progression there was an idea presented in my FC about that that I like rather well: Armor Variants. We have gear that changes slightly with the /visor function, where parts completely disappear, move, or reappear with a simple emote command (Think Amon's hat. Scholar's hat, etc.) Why not have questionable pieces of body armor operate similarly? Might actually give some option for male characters who want to show a bit more skin to do so as well.
My thoughts exactly, so many people feel self entitled over a single design, if you don't like the hole then just glamour it to something else, there are many designs i wish could be cooler or be adjusted, but instead of complaining accept some people might like the design and just wear something different if that one thing turns you off of it.
Also for the idiots complaining about gender equality, a lot of women like feeling sexy when it comes to their avatars so don't speak as though all women find this distasteful, i know plenty who like the design, and as a few others have pointed out this game does a great job of not just adding sexy female versions of armour but instead a huge majority is similar in design between the sexes, and this dragoon set at least has a reason for being more open due to dragoons needing to be more flexible when jumping and such.
Go make a thread campaigning for something that actually matters and effects the game negatively.
Looks like they'll keep their hole closed for the new DRG AF:

It need a skirt. I hope the female DRG AF3 come with a skirt.
Please SE, don't waste development time on fixing old glamour. Kthx
So I've always hated it when a set is different between both genders. Always have, always will.
But in the case of goon armor i also don't particularly like how it interacts with my character's skin tone.

So i mean that's another reason i'd like it closed personally.
edit: it kind of feels like it was designed for lighter skinned characters in mind to provide a clear contrasting element to the armor.
double edit: and the closer you get to the actual tone of the armor the more odd it looks.
Regardless of what anyone wants it's more than safe to assume they will not go back to modify this gear. In other instances they've specifically said they wouldn't dedicate any time to old gear and would instead take it into consideration for future gear. Won't happen for this outfit ever.
That belly hole has me thinking... wouldn't it cause some nasty cuts to the characters abdomen if they bend or twist their bodies?
I need to revive this, because I am previewing the armor on my female alt character and I am getting unreasonably tilted looking at that glaring weak spot in the armor.
I am not fond of the idea of having something I personally like erased/ changed because you're '' unreasonably tilted ''.
FFXIV isn't a realistic simulator, if you don't like it that's fine but lets not pretend like this is somehow '' unrealistic '' in the context of FFXIV.
If you don't like revealing gear then you also have the OVERWHELMING majority of gear already catered to you, so it's a bit silly to get mad because this one piece doesn't fit your personal taste.
You're not the only person playing this game.
The whole set is stupid if you want to get into this, the whole concept of '' spiked armor '' is dumb especially if you're going to wear it all day every day ( tbh at that point wearing so much armor is stupid to begin with, no way you'd be able to live like that ).
Even fairly normal fantasy stuff like wearing big cloaks is completely idiotic in the context of combat, this is a very selective complaint tbh that is just a matter of people trying to justify why their taste is '' more important ''.
If you dislike it that's fine but I wish if people were going to make these arguments they'd be more consistent about it and not just selectively apply it whenever something doesn't suit their taste.
I mean I am looking at the helmet your character is wearing in your profile pic currently and am wondering how your character can even see lol.
No. Just make it an option for either gender.
Didn't gladiators beat the life out of each other and fought lions and all sorts of vicious beasts in sandals, bare belly and a ridiculous bronze helmet? This is not as ridiculous as it seems.
"Gladiators generally wore minimal amounts of clothing and fought with their chests bare because this was a symbol of masculinity. They wore canvas loincloths in a variety of colours, called a subligaculum. They also wore sandals, called gladiator sandals, which have inspired the designs of many sandals even today." -Google
And I'm not going to lie, IRL a seasoned gladiator that killed 10 lions and 4 of his kind could probably beat the ever living crap out of a pompous knight dressed in full plate mail that did nothing but chill around in court as noble for most of his life with "some" mock training. Heck, even if they went to battle and killed a few folk they wouldn't stand a chance because none of that armor is going to make up for the fact that the naked person spent a huge chunk of his life in killing grounds murdering others to claw his way out of the coloseum.
Quite frankly a female dragoon with a belly window thats killed a few dragons could come up to a noob and tear him in half. A mail shirt isn't going to stop a magically enhance relic of untold power being swung with super human strength at the armor wearer.
Practicality aside, I just think the belly window looks stupid.
Necro aside it is kind of irritating how often the female version of armor is wildly different from the dudes
I mean the number of times a neat pair of pants gets magically transformed into a tiny skirt or literal underwear is... high enough to be annoying
It should happen more often.
I think every armor needs a belly opening. make it happen.
As a female thats LOVES belly openings, high heels and very feminine clothing irl...we need that added in this game too, soft, delicate, flowing + sexy.
We already have 99% crap covered..can we even out the ratio a tad please?
Less tights attached to everything, clown shoes and boots and all around laughable looking gear?
Pretty pwease Yoshi-P ^.^
Can a mod just lock this already before this forum bumps it another 20 pages oblivious to the fact it's a 7 year old necro.
I have a big beer belly, as a male I request the belly window to be opened on the male version of the armor as well so my belly can breathe! Free the beer bellies!
I wouldn't mind it so much except for that piece of metal hanging down near the sternum that looks like it'll dig into the chest if you bend down. If anybody's done any sort of CPR training that's real close to the spot you do not want to press on because it can break off a piece of bone or cartilage that will slice up the victim you're trying to save.
Now that DRG shares stats with RPR that glam's been relegated to one of my retainers.
